Only thing to look forward would be how Karn Sharma goes in this innings, now that the pitch is turning and with those footmarks.

We just lost wickets at the wrong time and to nothing balls really. Except for Rahane. None of em got unplayable ones. We should have easily gotten close to Aus score had tail shown any courage at all.

Its just pathetic to see our bottom 4 bat like this. And why the hell was Aaron a much better technically equipped bat sent @ no.11 is beyond me.

We have just given the advantage to Aussies. Hard to see us save the game from here. With pitch only getting worse, Lyon would run through our lineup.

You guys needed to bat another 15-20 overs to kill this game. Now Aus should have advantage here.

Aus can score quick runs and then test Indian batting again. 78 overs remaining. Aus can play 70 overs and score around 280-300 runs. They can try to put Indians out for 4-5 overs today and if pick up wickets then Indians will be under huge pressure to save this test.

It's all upto warner now if he start like he did in first innings i see australia scoring about 300 in 20 overs otherwise with rogers tuk tuk i dont ee them scoring with healthy run rate

They simply need to score at the same rate as first two inning. Nothing more and then turn it on a bit in the last 10 overs. They can do ti even without Warner. Indian don't have bowling to put pressure.

Aaron is actually a pretty decent bat, he can defend well. Not sure why they didn't send him to bat with Saha. Having Shami actually unsettled Saha, who was looking pretty composed.

India threw it all away you would have to say. Remove Warner early and they might make up for it a lil bit.

I think it's lack of experience in this entire team otherwise someone should have gone big after getting a start and killed the game. Entire team doesn't have the mindset to bat overs.

karn sharma can play a role here but than again its upto kohli captaincy too how he use his bowlers today

I called it yesterday ;)

Actually, Shami swinging at everything cut down the lead. Anyway, Aus should press for a win here.

Problem is even if he plays a role, I don't see Aus getting bundled out so cheaply. Even if Aus scores 250 all out, it will not be easy for India to chase 325 on 5th day here. Aus is firm favorite in my opinion and Indians have to really bat well to not lose. It's lack of experience or lacking the mindset to bat out time.

There it is! Just how difficult it gets for a batsman when you come over the wicket. Stick to that.

Rohit and Saha really should have got them past 450 after Aus wasted the new ball yesterday. Started off well but then Rohit gave it away. Saha was unlucky tho.

Aus will set a target of 400 by the end of day-4.

India will have to survive 90 overs on Day-5.

Clarke will not hang around once they reach 350. Tbh even 300 is enough to bundle out this lineup. They only really have to work their way to get Kohli, Rahane, Pujara out. Rest will fall like pack of cards.

I don't know about the new keeper but I don't really rate Rohit to play under pressure. I was predicting Indians to not cash in due to Rohit and long tail.

I know this is not Chinnaswamy stadium but I still think India might pull it off anything below 350. :kohli

Clarke won't risk 350

He'll go for 400

Still think it will end in a draw

This Test 'll have a result, unless it rains - still 167 overs left.

I don't see any of these 2 sides surviving 90 overs on this track batting 2nd time. Ideally AUS would like to bat for 70 overs, get a lead close to 350 & give IND last day + 5 overs to chase. But, IND can comeback strongly - get AUS all out inside 200 today & bat for 300 in last day.

AUS is 80-20 ahead though.

Rohit. Just can't figure the guy out :))

This is shaping up to be a good game. Hope Aus set a good total and India go for it - or fight excitingly in whatever aim they set themselves (draw or win).

If India don't make serious inroads with this new ball they are in for some leather chasin.

I don't see Indian having 20% chance of win here. Mainly due to Aus already having around 100 runs lead right now. I don't see Aus getting out within 200 as well. Just one Aus batsman needs to bat well and they will be fine.

I see 90% chance of Aus win here.

He has a huge technical flaw but all I see commentators and many PPers talking about ow talented he is.

The thing is he just look good on crease like that umar amin guy but looking good doesn't make you a great player

Why warner playing so slow, oz need to score at atleast around 4.5 run per over, and get to around 330 in 70 odd overs today. And set india target of around 400, and get full day 5 to get them all out 2nd time. It's race vs time.

post lunch he is going boom boom just wait and see

It's not about 10 overs. Aus will surely score 4+ today. Also, no need to give 400 target. 350 is more than enough in 5th day pitch.

He is surely talented but he plays many shots away from body leaving huge gap between bat and pad. When those shots comes fine then folks go gaga over his talent and shot making but that's a huge red flag.

India has again proved how superior their batting is to ours. The gap will only increase until we seriously do something to close it, perhaps hiring an Indian batting coach would be a good idea.

These type talented players get easily exposed in Test cricket.

IND has less than 1% chance of winning this one, but instead of 80-19-1, I shortened it. Even if Clarke declares tomorrow morning with 90 overs to bowl, IND 'll have to face 2 new balls. AUS wickets are not like PAK wickets - it's hard, rock solid & bouncy. Once the top surface starts to crack, it's really difficult to bat.

Sorry but what the hell are you talking about now? Didn't you just watch the UAE test series where we were scoring massive scores (like 500/3) and bundling out Australia for <300. This pitch is a highway where Aus scored >500 at 4 RPO.

Pakistan played last Test match in adelaide back in 1990 (Wasim Akram and Imran Khan both scored centuries in 2nd innings) and that was a draw and even the 2 matches before that match ended in draw so our record is not bad here it's just that they dont give us this pitch anymore.

Even south africans dont give us durban pitch they offer to lankans and indians.

Yup this is the point, that india scored well god adelaide, but first let them score this much in pitches like gabba than we can safely say indian batting is better than pak, otherwise i am seeing this as action replay of what happened to india in Eng. Strong start on absolute phattas than their batting went downhill. So hold your judgement till end of next test.

So Lords was a phatta then?

When aussies go for it, i would like to see karn's t20 skills come into action or expect him to get dropped for next test.

Indian bating is inexperienced but their young batters have played some gems which I haven't see many Asian batsmen playing in tough conditions. Rahane's inning in Eng was one of the best I saw from any Asian in recent years on a green top. Kohli's knock in the first test(first inning) in SA was also a great one.

Having said this, I will rate Pakistani batting ahead. Simply due to experience of YK and Misbah. Many poster underestimate the importance of experience.

We all know what happens to mighty Pak batting whenever they step outside Asia. They make epic scores like 49 A.O .

Aus can play like T-20 in the last session. Indians will be done and dusted by then. Runs are not going to matter here. It will come down to if Indians can survive 90 odd overs on 5th day. I give them a very little chance of doing so. Indian will have to bat out of their skin to save this test.

Exactly why i think it was criminal of pujara, kohli & rohit to get out after getting starts in easier conditions.

Now they'll have to do the impossible here to draw it.

You can blame their inexperience all you want but at some point or another they'll have to take on the responsibility.

That's where they threw this test. One of them should have gone big and killed the game.

Save this for a Pakistan game to join the others crying about run rate. Our scoring rate is fine.

Word going around that Rogers is going to be replaced by the opener we faced last time - Ed Cowan.

So how come this unreliable Indian batting (its unreliable) outperform SA and England on this Adelaide pitch?

Check 2012 and 2013 scores.

SA made 388 with NO Mitch.
England made 172 with Mitch.

This doesn't mean India is a better side than them.

But this whole "its a patta, anyone can make any score" may not be a fair way to judge.

Not the word I'm hearing- 12 man squad for Brisbane has already been selected.

Poor Hughes. Would have been a monty to make his comeback

Glad you've joined the party; we've done that every couple of years when Australia tour.

Doing it in Australia is another ball game though, literally.

Better yours than mine - my word is sourced from peering around Australian forums every now and then.

Invers was Rogers' biggest supporter on the selection panel so he'll be in trouble without a score. Not really any options though

Have to resign ourselves to the fact that we have to bat out a day and a bit to save this one.

Lyon got a 5-fer in the first innings, no doubt he'll be spitting cobras tomorrow - so this is a tough ask.

Can anyone remember the last time we batted out a day to secure a draw?
