Can't let Australia score at 5 an over and dictate the pace here. Need to tighten our lines and dry up the scoring.

Wasn't out anyway. Would have loved DRS so India could have wasted it

DRS was killed by BCCICCC because selfish players like Sehwag and Gambhir never bothered to ask the nonstriker for second opinion. Now since they are gone for ever, India should retain DRS back.

Aaron has talent but lacks a tactical bowling brain. Reminds me of Gul - he seems unsure where to bowl at times.

Aussies are 80/1

And half of those runs have been conceded by the India's new "paste" sensation, Aaron :yk2

Umesh is worse than Aaron. Didn't Umesh start bowling at like 22? Too old to be a specialist in any sport at professional/international level. Mediocre trundler that will and does get smashed

Ishant has bowled well - much better seam position and good lengths.

No he is not. Bowlers can become good over couple of years unlike batsmen.

He started bowling with a tennis ball in his teenage. Only switched to leather ball at age of 20-21 and was selected after 2 seasons of Ranji.

India need 1 more wicket at least in this session otherwise this wicket will only get flatter.

So what is the difference between Umesh and Aaron, and why do you proclaim Umesh is better? He got smacked more in the warm-ups, and obviously the Indian team (Dhoni, Kohli etc.) bat against him in the nets and don't choose him because he is cannon fodder. Can't find another logical reason of selecting Aaron over Umesh.

Varun and Umesh are pathetic spray guns that have the pace to blind 1 billion Indians into believing that they are any good.

Umesh gets smashed only in Flat pitches where Aroon gets smashed even in good bowling pitches. Umesh's short balls are much better than Aaroon's. This is from my analysis.

Much needed wicket for India.

Poor shot though - similar to a tailender.

Clarke sprints to the ground, looks like he is about to smash a 50 ball 300

Gets a flukey would wicket. He's basically the new Akhtar now.

He did not even play the first warm-up! I think Umesh is better because of the way he bowled against SL on flat Indian pitches and overall watching over the years. Also, he has toured Australia previously and bowled some good spells there.

clarke is soft right now, had a very poor series in UAE. Indians need to get him quick because if plays out overs today and somehow gets his form back, Indians will have a very bad series.

Leggies that don't turn big should be attacked. You get more time to connect

I expected India to start off strong with all the hype over these bowlers and the Aussies still reeling from off-field issues but some things never change.

He's just too wild is Aaron. He needs to keep it simple with odd short ball and the odd fuller one.

If this is the first test match where India historically do best, I can imagine how bad it will be going into the 3rd/4th test :))) bowlers will be broken down and decimated and Australia with their innings wins

Aaron's pace ain't special either from what I've seen here.

Its a flat pitch but with enough bounce to be dangerous if you have a brain. Mohammad Irfan would have been a wrecking ball on this pitch.

Too much hatred for Indians :sanga. I know half of their fans are obnoxious, but give them a break :noori

Warner has been absolutely brilliant with his batting, Not much wrong with the bowling but Warner has simply been outstanding

7years of FC cricket for Karn Sharma and the commentators think he is inexperienced

The obnoxious ones are smart. They always have other commitments at times like these.

I apologize on behalf of my own own kind to the nice Indian fans.

Agree, there's not a lot the opposition can do when a player is prepared to attack like this in a Test match, especially on day 1 when the opposition are looking for wickets, not to contain runs.

The feels when a 40 averaging bowler is you best bowler. :(

The Way it started.... I would say it ended up a decent session for India too...

Varun has been such a dissapointment today...

Ishant continuing his great year...

He is. Test match cricket in Australia will be like nothing Karn has ever played before- a huge step up in class and intensity from Ranji an alien conditions.

Obnoxious fans live in India, it is like 7 am there, probably waking up and getting ready to go to school or something. The ones living in western countries are not that bad.

2 wickets in the first session is a decent mornings work at Adelaide. Obviously India would prefer a lower run rate but it's not the disaster it could have been.

The really hard part is finding 2 more wickets in the hot middle session with an old ball to keep you in the game.
