India actually on top in my book.

Batting friendly conditions and Aus are effectively 354/7 (possibly even 8 if Clarke is too hurt to play in the 2nd). Australia have to be really worried about what happens if David Warner doesn't score. The rest doesn't look particularly great at the moment.

If the batsmen are alright India have every chance.

Not a great day for us, our three batsmen contributed, as usual nobody else did although Marsh made a bit. Good fight back from India.

It's shocking how Haddin keeps getting into the team with his pathetic batting. Australia really needs to find a better wicket keeper batsman.

I think what he meant is with clarke stuffed we are basically 7 down in this dig and already 1 down in the next dig.

Clarke could bat in the second innings.

It's a back spasm- he has these because his back is like that.

It's not a hamstring tear or anything. He could well wake up tomorrow and be feeling perfectly fine.

We do have better options- Haddin as Captain is contingency for Clarke getting forced to retire soon.

This is a very really option so they're not confident in moving on Haddin until they're more comfortable with giving Smith the Captaincy.

How reliable is the news that it's a spasm? I've had spasms and yes you can get over them quickly. I didn't know if he had done some further damage.

I hadn't actually seen anybody report it as just a spasm, be nice if it was.

Most of the papers are reporting it as clarke's while summer now being in serious doubt.

It's an assumption based on previous known stuff.

This is an explanation of his problem
Degenerative disks, the pads that cushion his lumbar spine are getting smaller and more brittle by the day, and causes all sorts of hamstring tightness, nerve pain, sciatica. All sorts of really debilitating issues. He has been battling with it all his career, and frankly i'm surprised he has lasted this long.

It's going to be very tough from here.

His summer is in doubt just as it was when he got injured against South Africa.

His biggest problem is that he has a permanent back issue that isn't going to get any better.

It's going to keep acting up so it's hard to make any long term plans for him.

Amazing with how bad he is that before the summer he wasn't asked (or forced) to choose between tests and the WC, seems like fantasy land stuff him playing all the tests and then the WC right after.

Winning the Ashes 5-0 gives you plenty of clout

The selectors can't keep on running from making the big call though

With another 100 runs on board, Australia are pretty safe to win by an innings. Otherwise they may required to bat a bit once more.

IMO Clarke should not play WC. He looks out of sorts in shorter formats, his SR is very poor. Let Mitchell Marsh/Faulkner/Maxwell play together.

Marsh/Faulkner and Maxwell shouldn't play in the same team regardless.

Two of them at max.

I hope Indian bowlers bowl with some brain and a sense of purpose tomorrow morning to restrict Australia to under 400

Australia will get around 450 easy. All depends on India's spine of Kohli, Pujara and Rahane. Rohit might surprise a few too!

I get a feeling johno will score a 70-80 of 30 balls tomorrow if continue bowling like this.

Day ended on a bright note for India considering how badly it started.

Aaron and Shami totally blew it in the first 1 hour. Karan Sharma is asked to do to much for a debutant and that too in Australia where spinners rarely succeed. Ishant was good.

Shami is a much better bowler than what he showed. He tends to take wickets in bunches followed by a long gap.

Aus can still get to 500 as India usually let the opponents tail wag.

From here on, India should feel lucky if they can save the Test.

Aus will get to around 450 in their first dig.
I expect India to score not more than 300 during the reply.
Aus will take a lead about 150 and then score 300 something declared in their second innings, setting India a target of 450+.
India will be about 200 all out in their second innings.
Aus to win by 250+ runs.

Their best batsmen going into this match were warner, clarke & smith.

Warner got out after getting a century while clarke & smith are still not out on 50+.

Australia v India | 1st Test | December 9-13 | Adelaide | Day 2

Australia will start their innings from 354/6 in the 2nd day.

Should aiming for 400 plus here.

Will be interesting how well Indian batting team play against the likes of Jhonson and Harris.

The track is FLAT .... so the Indians should know how to survive on it. They probably will. But this is a game of Crocket ..... anything can happen. Their batting lineup is not as formidable as it was with the Fab Four. Soooo ... all advantage to Australia. Should be a good contest .... for me though 65/35 Australia !!!!

It is currently drizzling so will be overcast today. Aussie bowlers should get some assistance.

Seeing as it's a flat track, if India make a low score..does that still make India flat track bullies? :D

This score is already higher than all but one of the scores in the england series. India is in a bit of trouble

Bringing on the part time offie when Clarke is 97*?

with 4 bowlers opp. post mammoth total 0ver 500 every time..... then we shd include 11 batsman so there would be chance of drawing the match atleast .... if not win.... no body want to watch indian bowling....bec it is not even club level

The best thing for world cricket right now is to see indian trundlers getting smashed. Stuff you rain

Clarke has scored almost 25% of his career runs against India. Most of them at home as well.

Great to see him battle through the injury and bat on though.

Could really be a tactic. Get Ashwin in for Karan and Bhuveshnar for Varun. Then you can also replace Shami with a bowling all-rounder and that is a very deep batting lineup.

all full batsman can only draw

Dont worry pak & sl fans even if it rains till lunch of day 5 aus will still win this match

all full batsman can only draw

You need atleast 4 mediocre bowlers. Can't play part-timers and expect to compete.

Kumar, Bowling allrounder, Ishant and Ashwin should be good enough to bat and bowl, decently.

I think we might declare after 500, if we get there. That's Clarke's way.

Seems like India have bowled trash today after a good session at the end of yesterday.

This score card looks familiar. Toothless bowling again on display :facepalm
Too many boundary balls.
You cannot play Karn Sharma!! Guy has 60 wickets in 35 FC games!!!
Why won't Clarke just declare?
