I don't know what has happened to Johnson but apart from a few balls here and there he looks average

Thivagar, What are your views on VJ 'n P.U. Jara ?? :ghalib

Okay i need to head off can't stay all night today gotta wake up in 5 odd hours :/

The tail isn't going to last for even 3 overs here. Need to play carefully!

Aus is missing Harris here. Some one needs to step up.

Johnson is 33 years old. Can't expect him to maintain last symmer's form. It was just a freakish peak. The key for us on the other hand is to not give wickets to Lyon.

Eh, Smith should encourage Vijay to hit rather than contain.

Australia clearly missed Ryan Harris today. He would have been lethal on this pitch with bounce and lateral movement.

I am liking this series in Aus so far. A good contest and Indians are not running scared like last team in Aus.

He has one of the biggest difference between home and away averages in test cricket.

If he doesn't make the cut in this series, it's better we make a move on and try other players. And Pujara isn't the fittest players around too.,

Is Pujara done? He is struggling against easy bowlers these days..

I don't think so. He looks class. You guys expect too much from your batsmen in first overseas tours. Give him time and I think he will have a good career.

Given the state of our bowling, it's important for us to have the best batsmen playing their best cricket at all times.

This new indian lot don't seem to have the same issues with bounce, helps that the aussie quicks have been woeful since the start of the uae as well.

Yah, both factors at play here but I like the attitude of this Indian team. It was fun to watch Eng for the first two test but after that it was not fun to see them running scared whenever Johnson came out to bowl.

I meant - I enjoyed watching Johnson but you do want to see opposition batsmen fighting a bit.

Pujara's scratchiness hurts me a lot.

He is THE guy when it comes to knocking out oppositions stone cold.

Kohli and Rahane haven't been able to do that (yet) even though they score centuries.

Pujara has that immense ability.

But now he doesn't look super comfortable like he looked in SA.

Maybe fitness is an issue. Or knee is an issue.

Dunno.

But something is off with him.

Johnson was bowling at a different level last season. He's still sharp and handy for the Indians but not at that level

Dravid on commentary said it is more of a form issue rather than technique. He is getting late on the ball or something, not timing it perfectly. Despite that, hes been pretty decent.

I hope so.

Pujara genuinely has a potential to avg 60 overall.

But his struggles these days are very disappointing.

He seems to lose concentration as well. Lots of dismissals in 20s and 30s.

Last time, he was gone for 70s. That was very surprising.

That's true but almost every Eng batsman looked very scared when facing him. I enjoyed a bit but then you don't want to see that for 10 inning. I stopped watching the series in middle of 3rd test. Johnson bowled really well even in SA but batsmen were not looking scared to face Johnson like English did.

I don't think that Indians will avoid defeat here despite starting well in the first session but I like that they are willing to fight it out.

My channel has contract with the Aussies, so I'm only hearing the Australian commentary and they are saying Johnson is not ready to bowl fearsome bouncers due to the Phil Hughes incident. I miss the voice of Harsha Bhogle. Gavaskar is the cutest when he tries to be funny.

The performance of Vijay and Pujara has been exactly opposite of what one expected an year ago.

Vijay is leaving the ball very well and also cashes in on the odd loose ball.

That I agree with you. To be honest, we have had our share of abject surrenders during the 2011 season where our ageing batsmen turned up only to diminish their legacy..

Australia will hit back hard in the 2nd session. There was a lot of help on offer but they couldn't capitalize on it and bowled very bad lines. These guys are quick learners and will make it count in the next session

Johnson was in a special place last year, lets remember he destroyed SA as well and they certainly weren't scared of him like the poms.

He is a worry though, he seems a highly strung emotional bloke and he loses it very quickly even after being in top form.

Well not starc, he's played the exact same test over and over since his debut.

I saw him trying to bowl good bouncers in his second spell. I think he unsettled Dhawan and Dhawan lost his wicket. But Johnson was surely effected by that incident in the first test and I think it will be still back of his mind when trying to bowl bouncers. I can't blame him to be honest.

This guy is such a talented bowler and actually I expected him to replace Johnson a couple of years back. He has the swing, bounce and the ability to get the ball back into right handers in a deadly way (the way Jonshon does it).. It's pity that he isn't consistent. But if he gets going, he'll run through line ups..

Smith starts well by managing a poor 25 overs in his first session. Both captains should be flogged publicly on Boxing Day if they keep this up. Fans pay good money to watch 30 overs in a session.
