Umpires give the normal amount of howlers. Same before and after DRS

True.

What I don't understand is why not use replays to get rid of howlers. Third umpire can use replays. Simple, no cost involved and also doesn't interfere in close calls. All this fancy stuff and players calls has become tactics rather than a tool to get rid of howler.

Third umpire should not interfere in close calls. That will keep the game moving and also remove all howlers.

I agree

It's actually very funny.

The umpire on the spot can make a call with very little reaction time, yet now with a replay they can't have a third umpire look at the same replay in slow motion at all angles without the DRS method because that would be unfair? Baffling stuff honestly.

Your proposal makes more sense than anything. Just send it to the third umpire who can just go and determine themselves if it is an LBW or not using simple slow motion replay.

Its funny how Star commentators keep commenting about Lyon bowling around the wicket and over the wicket and why one over the other.

Best things will be cost factor here. Many series don't use full DRS due to cost so we have different tech being used in each series even when we use DRS. We must be missing something here because it's looks a no brainer decision to me. I can't understand why ICC doesn't use replays and forget all this fancy stuff. If goal is to remove howler then jut get rid of howler with replays.

For some stupid reason, the technology available to the umpires is dependent on what the broadcaster is willing to pay.

Should be the ICC or the hosting board that pays

How do you define close calls or how do you classify howlers?

I prefer no interaction at all. Let the umps do their job like it's been all these days.

For all those posters who watch too much LO cricket and cry when we don't pick Starc. This is why we don't pick Starc he is ****. Four ball every over all day long.

Good application by this newbie. Got Kohli here.

golden opportunity for Rahane if he doesn't make enough of it that's going to be sad.

Howlers are obvious when watching on TV. Also, let third umpire decide if he saw enough of howler in one replay to take decision. if he has to see many angles then it's not a howler.

And this is why sticking with Siddle because of his experience was dumb

Common sense and BCCI/ICC don't go hand in hand.

Said it years back in cricinfo comments that if howlers are the issue, simple replay is enough.

No cost. Howlers get eliminated.

Good to see Buffet stating it too.

150 up , just three down .

India would be pleased with that.

Yes but Dhawan threw it away. Got out to a 4 ball.

Kohli I heard slashed wide. I was watching the match, then slept off and now seeing that he is gone.

Pujara as scratchy as he may be was not out.

So could have been better bro.

But considering our past performances, its GREAT.

Just started watching, did we lose Pieces to injury? Well at least Bits is still there. Looks like Starc been spraying it around?

Nah, first session was Indian but second was Australian. Aus will be happy to get rid of Pujara and kohli. Now get one wicket and tail starts ;)

The over rate looks a bit off.
38 overs to be bowled in 2 hours. Play will have to be extended a bit.

I think guys like Pujara and Dhawan needs to make a quick exit out of the Indian side these kids have been under performing for how long now ??????????

Again India looks like a 2 man batting show.. Vijay we all know will go close to the 100 or quickly after the 100, who is going to step up ? def not No-hit SHarma...

It's terrible. Not as bad as Kohli in Adelaide but still a joke. ICC needs to make the suspensions for more than 1 game, like 2 or 3 games to get it through these fool captains heads that they are to bowl 15 overs an hour.

Might bowl Warner, Smith and Lyon for an hour. [emoji14]onting

Fantastic hundred by Vijay. Let's see if he can make it a big one here.
