They should look to swap Shafiq and Misbah's positions or even promote Sarfaraz above Misbah with a view to the future.

The way Misbah is playing in this series (reckless), his style is more suited to playing with the tail anyway.
 
So this could be Misbah's final inning #EndofAnEra [MENTION=47617]Red Devil[/MENTION] but the FUTURE is NOW, I hear there's a big dearth in all rounders these days:sohail
 
250-3 at tea. Misbah to end his career with a spectacular, explosive 100. We will chase down 200 in the final session to complete a record breaking victory!!!!

We may as well just go for the win. There is absolutely no way that we can just defend and bat out the full day. Rather get out swinging, at least we'll be closer to the target.
 
If we are performing like this in supposedly our 'best format', what will we do in the ODIs smh? :facepalm:
 
been a rough tour for azam so far, good thing is that he's young and that he'll hopefully learn from this. I back him to become a very good batsmen for Pakistan.

Umar akmal was better than him when startet. Yasir and Amir has out batted this so Called talented Star.
Rubbish and disgracefull batting by barbar

Maybe he will. But one has to ask the question: what has he learnt in playing alll these innings. Same mistakes

Yes, I agree.

He has a few small technical glitches to tidy up. In spite of what people say, he's actually less of the finished article than Umar Akmal was on the same tour 7 years ago, when he scored 199 runs at 33.16. But Umar Akmal had had the benefit of a Pakistan A tour in which he had scored centuries in both matches.

You can score quickly in Australia once you have adapted your game to the conditions. It's really sad that Pakistan thought they could do without Salman Butt and Umar Akmal, who have such good records in Australia.

Sami Aslam and Babar Azam were unlucky to come here without enough prior A Test or First Class experience in Australia. They were expected to learn on the job, and that's tough, really tough.

In Tests and A Tests in Australia you will find that Umar Akmal has 500 runs in five matches at an average of 50, with two centuries.

The problem is the incompetent fools who chose to ignore his track record in Australia. He should have come as a reserve batsman, and if he was performing in the nets he could have really strengthened this team.

Bhai Salman Butt is finished. Barbar has been Rubbish. Both barbar and misbah has been batting like teenage girls, nonsense and Rubbish batting

Babar has been making the exact same error that Azhar Ali made on the first half of the England tour: playing across his pads.

That seemed to work out okay.

So you were half right! that's not bad at all :yk3 Khan is 30 runs away from 10K, how do you feel about that? wish he can get it here in AUS mate, it wont be the same in the empty stands of UAE

I will be enjoying every ball played/run scored by YK in this inns. An ATG for sure.

We might not get to see another Pakistani batsman anywhere like him in our lifetime.

So the question is: Who will retire 1st? Misbah or Younis? I can see Misbah staying if he scores a 100 here and SK wants him to stay. I can see YK staying if he gets to 10K. Would both of them leaving be harmful? Hopefully at least one of them retires though.

Misbah without a doubt, he will call it a day although he may be tempted by WI because he has never won a series there. Younis will be around for a while, you could argue that with both being 40+ that it would be in the teams best interest that they leave but at the same time it would be good to have someone experienced and Khan doesn't look like he's starting to slow down entirely even though he is past his best he remains one of our best bats and his experience can be vital in the rebuilding phase
 
If Pakistan doesn't play poorly then it's not hard to get a draw here.

Agreed, but Misbah hasn't won a match in SA either. Would he stay till 2018?

Probably not, it's safe to say a retirement is very likely especially given that it has been on his mind since England toured the UAE

Unlikely given that Khan is the only other batsman who has been relatively consistent for us besides Azhar Ali, Misbah is out of form, Shafiq has already achieved his threshold and Sarfraz is only in business with good looking 40s. In addition, it will get tougher to bat and Lyon will get more out of the pitch/rough

Younis Khan after scoring runs in first inning to prolong his career, threw away his wicket in 2nd inning, did not try to save the match.
 
Part of me wants Misbah to continue batting like Afridi :afridi

Pressure of the record got to him but he has played that same shot to perfection quiet a few times yesterday if it had gone for 6 we'd be praising it, also credit to Lyon

Problem is lack of application shown by batsmen here. If pitch is very hard or bowlers are putting unplayable deliveries then you can't do much. Getting out with poor shots have been a big problem. So many gave up wickets in that huge collapse in the last test. As I am typing YK did the same here.

That shot has risk attached always even if he has played it well in past. Anyway, Yasir has outlasted 3 batsmen here as a nightwatchman. He is doing a good job here. Even if Pakistan loses this test, it's important to not give up and gift wickets to finish this test very quickly.
 
This match will be over half through the second session...

Pakistan have performed much worse than us and India.
 
Would be nice to see Misbah scoring a 100 in his last innings. He isn't one to ask for a farewell series and neither do I think he will be given one. Guy deserves a good send off.

Balaji was avery good bowler, injuries killed his career. He was one of the few one who could swing in and out from same point and with action.
I had a huge hope from him in a country like England and SA.
Don't judge him from ipl. Even in Iple he sometimes bowl like old time, remember when he clean bowled ABD.

The fastest triple hundred in tests is 278 balls, so he has something to aim for :salute

Dude I have met Balaji a couple of times and he is a very close friend of a friend so you don't have to defend his credentials. I was making a generic comment that's all. Don't take it negatively.

Nah. Double hundreds are yasirs speciality so I am more positive there. All Misbah has to do is score a hundred.
