What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 3rd Test | Sydney | Jan 3-7, 2017 | Day 5

Absolutely abysmal stuff from Pakistan 3-0 the same story specially after the moral stuff from Brisbane pathetic display all around particularly the bowlers as our batting has always been iffy Azhar Mehmood is not made for Test level coaching he is only fit for pyjama leagues need a good bowling coach asap Misbah plz retire as 4 tests against With will help us groom a young player batting unit should be persisted with but bowlers where are you

Many teams have survived 2 sessions with 5 wickets in hand. In fact, Pakistan is effectively 4 down due to one nightwatchman. It's difficult due to the way Pakistan is batting otherwise match is still not lost.

Pitch has held up very well, 100 there for both of these batsmen if they apply themselves.

Balaji was avery good bowler, injuries killed his career. He was one of the few one who could swing in and out from same point and with action.
I had a huge hope from him in a country like England and SA.
Don't judge him from ipl. Even in Iple he sometimes bowl like old time, remember when he clean bowled ABD.

Agree with you Navdeep. He was a good bowler and raised lots of expectation after the Pak series. India lost a good bowler because of injuries. I hope and pray that Shami stays fit - he is our best pace bowler.

Oh Shafiq, why are you playing at a ball that wide?

ahahahaha Chappelli blaming Misbah, he must have a Pakistani grandparent somewhere down the line :))

Chappelli blaming Misbah for Shafiq's wicket!

Says Misbah kept refusing singles to rotate the strike, so Shafiq started to play expansive shots.

Shafiq goes. Too much pressure being applied by the Aussies; Pak can't handle it.

So Shafiq being the inconsistent he is. One significant innings and then goes missing as usual

Not much PPers today. seems like match is getting boring.... But Pak can still eke out a draw....

The way YK threw his wicket just 23 short of 10K runs, there is possibility he didn;t want to complete his runs on this tour and facing the pressure to retire or dropped from West Indies tour in April.

You don;t play this short while saving the test, or was he trying to win it :mv

this is not how one should play for the draw

All I want is one more reverse sweep and a Misbah Surprise Six™ before the day is out.

flat pitch, fast bowlers off,two spinners operating..perfect conditions for Misbah to double his scores.

Both look like getting out any time. Need to bat calmly. Match can be still saved.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS

One final Misbah Surprise Six™

:salute:salute:salute:salute:salute:salute

Sarfraz is really riding his luck here, let's hope his good fortune continues for another 45 overs

Oh Misbah :( Needed some of Sarfraz's luck and was found wanting.

At least now I can finally go to bed.

If that's the final time we see you bat, thanks for keeping Pakistan cricket alive

:salute:salute:salute:salute:salute:salute

Sad sad stuff. Wanted Misbah to end on a personal high. Just why?

Misbah is finished.

Terrible batting.

Not even interested in saving the match.

End of the Legend.
End of an era.
Pakistan ATG.
Goodbye.

For the final time in international cricket, Misbah ul-Haq is

:out

:salute

He didn't announce retirement yet buddy

One of the best Pakistan captains of all time. Top 10 batsman as well.
:misbah3

Shafiq is so damn inconsistent, he only has one innings him a series... you're better off investing in a cricketer who can offer the side more than that. So much time invested in him for such little output...

Misbah, YK's and Shafiq's dismissals were terrible, you're trying to save the Test not chase down 400

I'm sorry who is your #5? Henry Nicholls? :))

And " one of the best" is about to lose his sixth test against 3 countries in a row, has anyone "achieved" this "honor" before , I wonder.

He was young and he's been dropped now because he isn't good enough :ibutt

Shafiq has been given so many Tests and he still has the same issues, you're better off investing in someone else.

I even didn't understand how Steven Smith was given out.

Nor do I understand Wahab.

It seems any spike is enough for the umpire.

It was poor when they gave Smith out earlier this series like that and it is poor now.

Sympathy dismissal to Wade because he finally caught one?

What a joke of a decision!! Steven Smith had something on Hot Spot!! There was NOTHING on hot spot today. Terrible.

Luckily it is in a match that wont matter.

Looks like the Steve Smith decision repeat.

Always thought the hotspot was more trustworthy than the snicko. Apparently not..

Snicko picks up everything. The sound could be from anything. In absence of supporting evidence like a visual deflection, the batsman should not be given out.

Wade was so happy that he managed to hold on to the ball that he called for a review just to show his teammates the replay

He's looked mentally checked out, if the decision is made quickly he'll retire. The only way he continues is if he waits a few weeks and players/coaches/PCB manage to convince him to carry on, or if the BCCI agrees to come to the UAE for a few tests.

In the likely event that he does retire, there is no prize big enough to repay Misbah for what he did to save Pakistan cricket. He was too good for us

Misbah's situation is a like a losing gambler chasing after a last win before quitting.
I dont feel Misbah will retire if the decision is left to him.
Behind closed doors , the PCB may offer him to retire voluntarily or the will force him to retire like Hafeez.
But the cool guy will be back as coach soon and will not produce any good players just like in his playing days and will encourage grouping rifts in the team.

3 hours at the crease for misbah... end of an era, its gonna be sad to not see him again in the pak team.

You have been a fantastic adversary over the years, Misbah. The other side of the coin of Dhoni. The Yin to his Yang. Your fantastic skills as a player have only been surpassed by your character and your integrity.

Fan from India for life. :salute

Lol at people bashing Shafiq. Was our 2nd best batsman in this series.

Averaged 40 in this series. At #6 too.

2, 137 (when the match was essentially gone), 50, 16, 4 and 30.

Shafiq has the knack of scoring runs when matches are lost, one of the best soft run scorers in world cricket.

Like: Mark Nicholas, Mark Taylor, Michael Clarke, Ian Chappell
Dislike: Bill Lawry, Michael Slater, Ian Healy, Shane Warn, Waqar Younis

You're right. 100 vs SA. Lost match. 100 vs NZ. Lost match. The rest aren't soft runs. We lost the Gabba Test match by 40 runs. Not 240. Showing your true Indian colors man.
