And the new guy is out next ball

249 all out

Very poor.

And South Africa were shocking in the field today - 4 dropped catches.

inns closed 249-9. Ntini ends with 3-39 Looking at this performance so far by Australia, they won't even be in the top 3 ODI sides soon.

Barring a miracle, the Proteas should be leading the series 2-0.

This is a real chance for a series whitewash

kallis out jp duminy comes in the most improved player most probabaly

Most improved?

Duminy has not improved. He has always been brilliant

Game on. 78 off 53 needed.

Btw, did you see Ryan Harris today?

A 29-year old debutant bowling around 145-146K today.
Why does Australia delay blooding these not-so-young quicks??

Steyn n Ntini were brilliant today.
If 7 topline batsmen cant chase 250 in this era, they deserve to lose.

/I have a feeling that Albie will win them the match one more time.
He's the next Flintoff I reckon.

Shall I sign him up for the AA meetings then?

54 from 26.

Looking difficult since the boundaries aren't coming easily.

From what I've seen, he wasnt moving the ball much. Of course, that might be different in tests where he might get more seam movement.

The answer to your question is obvious: they had an amazing bowling attack up until 2007 and didnt need to "blood" anybody.

Bowling's not threatening enough.

Yes FBM, but better Hilfy than Bollinger.
Or Harris over McDonald, given that both are allrounders.

Hell. Even Bracken would make a better 'control' bowler (read 'spin') than Hauritz & Co.

Correct. They messed up the order. Hilfenhaus has far more potential than Bollinger. And as far as McDonald goes, he's probably the Darren Pattison of 2009. This whole idea of an "allrounder slot" is quite silly, especially if the guy cant get into the team with the merit of atleast one discipline.

Damn !! 49.5 Hilfenhaus to Morkel, 1 run, well bowled, full and wide and Albie can only steer it to deep point :(

Congrats to Australia. Fantastic death bowling by the Aussies. Dumb decision by the Proteas to bring McKenzie ahead of Morkel

That would have been too early for Morkel (36 over). I would have rather brought Morkel in before Bouch (41 over). Bouch was quiet for a long time. Only at the end did he really open up. Proteas could have easily won the game if Morkel came in at 41st over and not the 46th over.

In my opinion the Aus ODI side has really lost it's sparkle.

Actually i feel the Powerplay rule has changed the complexion of ODI games especially in the last 5 overs. It makes it difficult to contain and the rule has made things difficult for the Aussie bowlers.

With Lee, Johnson, Symonds and Clarke to come back into the team batting, bowling and fielding will improve.

Plus add Watson who is the first choice opener, Tait who was unavailable today and Stuart Clark who is not a great ODI bowler but would play with the current injury struggles.

Any country - take 7 players out of their first choice ODI squad of 15 and see how well you go. :batman:

What ( who is) is in a bigger decline ?
A: Israeli propaganda machine?

C: Aussie team

You mean the team that won the match?

man Brad haddin has to be one of the worst OZ players to take the field. Everytime hes on strike, Im reminded of like venkatpathy raju trying to bat; This guy cant bat for his life. He always puts pressure on the other batsman and they end up getting out cuz of his ineptness.

You sure about that now? :))

The match could have easily gone the other way just like the first game but this Aussie team for the past one and a half years is clearly in decline. You guys have a lot of players to cover for i am afraid. And please get rid of that offspinner Hussey, you need a better 5th bowler than that. Symonds can fill the roll.

I still have a few question marks about the bowling. Lee's is unpredictable, Johnson is improving, Tait is horribly inconsistent, injury prone, Siddle is raw, Harris is raw, Hilfenhaus is raw, Bracken will at best contain. No leg spinner at all.

Hayden is gone now, no Gilchrist, New batters still have a lot to prove. This Aussie team will need some time to get into the groove.

Yeah it is likely it will be a while before we are back to full strength.

But we still beat world number 2 side - which is supposedly daylights ahead of us - today with 6 of the first choice players unavailable.

Actually if the series happens the matches against Pakistan will probably tell us a bit about where the Aussie team is at.

However, 2 years till the next WC so no panic required.
