What's new

Australia vs Ind | 4th test |Day 2 Adelaide | 24/01/2008

We have really softened up Ponting & team in Perth. Doesn't look like the same team that played in Melbourne and Sydney.

Its Tea Finally .... :-D

Sheer commitment from Indian tail amidst all these braindroppings of Gavaskar from the commentators box. 19 year old Ishant Sharma is proving to be a better ambassador of the game than Sunny.

India was largely under-prepared at Melbourne. But in Sydney they played well despite the loss. In Perth they outplayed them.

Yep I am.

Will still beat South Africa later this year though. Will be the Saffies best ever chance so they are guaranteed to stuff it up

No arguments there ...I know we will probably stuff it up . It won't be as sweet if India beat you though . I rate them rather mediocre so it will undermine our achievement .

I do think our batting can handle your bowling though . I see nothing there that will bother them . I also think our bowling can trouble your batsmen ....on paper it should be a hard series for both teams .

Most certainly but it is the drop in Oz play standard on display here that is amazing. Dropped catches, unimaginative bowling. I am not watching so don't knwo what the body language is like but it couldn't be great.

Dhoni should make Tea for every1, RP should clean cups! Sharma can have extra cup if wants..
do they actually drink Tea?

Gilly has become worse. May be just a slump. But today's cathces were more due to tiredness, raggedness. Everyone was walking in slow motion. I saw brett lee and symonds walking to pick up the ball. Legs are tired. Australians are both mentally and physically weary. So i don't think they are going to be sharp on the field.

True but you were calling him a white supremacist not arrogant and mistake prone :D

RA, lets enjoy the game man. If you found the white supremacist bit disgraceful, then I apologise. Here, have some banger and mash :116:

All good Dhonifan - although I am not really enjoying this game all that much now. Losing one game is OK but Oz are looking down the barrell of another loss.

Excuse my ignorance ...is there no fifth test ?

No just 4. Used to be 3. But three years back they changed it to 4 after seeing India established a famous rivalry with ozzies in 2001. Moreover these two countries generate lot of interest anytime they clash. So they made it 4.

It'll be 5 after this... I say burn the stumps after this test..put em in a damn urn..and have a series every 2 years and call it "Ashes-2"....Tell england that they can play "Ashes" with NZ or WI..

lol Ashes 2 nice.... they might rename border-gavaskar into tendulkar-warne trophy.

This is a crucial knock from Kumble. Could be the difference between victory and defeat.

There is a lot of cricket left in this game. Let us see if Ponting can rally his boys in the next 3 days. If not the next series against Pak can be ineteresting.

Good...20 overs for us to have a go at the aussie line-up..just nice for the bowlers to steam-in and try to do as much damage as possible till the end of play..

or "Harbhajan-Symonds" trophy.. :D

That should be the one day trophy

On a vaguely serious note Gavaskar's name should be removed from the trophy. He is no ambassador for the game. Tendulkar would be better.

A name like the Ashes would be even better, no naming after players - now who can come up a good name? :D

How about the Agit Agarkar/Brad Williams trophy? :D

No Warne, No McGrath

That shouldn't affect our display in the field, though, except for maybe Warney in the slips.

Do you guys think AUS will play positively and go for the win or settle with a draw? because remember a draw is enough for them to win the series.

Fielding was certainly very poor. I am seriously concerned about Gilchrist because over the last 2 or 3 years he hasn't done much with the bat and now he is starting to drop sitters.

Will be going for the win - draw is last resort and only if we absolutely cannot win. Can't remember the last time we tried for a draw.

I just meant that we always felt close to a breakthrough with those two and so the side psyche reacts accordingly (and fields better).

When it looks like you are not going to get a wicket heads start to drop.

Having said that Australia sets very high standards in the field and we have come nowhere near the standard this Test so far.

Spinners look to be the key here Harbhajan & Kumble looking dangerous, we are set for an awesome day tommorow.

add sehwag into the list too...he was mighty impressive in the second innings of the perth test..with his flight and turn..

yup. If only we can somehow get Hayden. Basically with Hayden, we are clueless how to get him. Lets just hope he gives it in quicket this time.

Another good day for India, we need to get Hayden out quickly tommorow or prepare for tough times ahead.

I think we'll go for the win - we've got the trophy after all.

Don't see Aussies scoring more than 350...
today kumble showed us what he could do with the bat
tomo's going to be kumble's day to show what he can do with the ball...

Amen!

What is going on with Aussie fielding. They are still good at stopping boundaries etc but they are looking like Pakistan when taking catches. They dropped 3-4 catches last test. They dropped atleast 3 this test. Were the catches not difficult enough for them?

Indians .. will they pick up even 1 wicket on 26th of January? It's India's republic day and also Australia day.

Have to agree with you, even Gavaskar was good batsman and all, but he is not good ambassador for game. He is just a cry baby and arrogant person. His name should be replaced by Tendulkar
also how about Chappel/Ganguly trophy
