Australia vs India | 1st Test | Adelaide | Dec 6-10, 2018 | Day 3 Thread

How is Murli Vijay still allowed to represent us? Do selectors even watch domestic cricket?

100 ahead . Aussie heads dropping ?

Nah, Aus will come all guns blazing after tea time. If India doesn't lose wicket in the next 10-15 overs then heads may drop a bit.

I still think we are on course for over 250 which should be dicey for hosts .

Glad to see that India is playing so well. Hopefully they will be able to bring a positive result out of this test. I have alwtafs wanted India to do well in. Overseas conditions.

Kohli seems to have a mental block against the Aussies since the 2017 series. Hope he can turn the tide here, a little bit of luck will help.

I never understood all the hate against Rahul. Kid's seriously talented. He has the talent of Rohit but the conditioning of Kohli. He'll go far.

Fact that his place is always under constant threat is more to do with India's slew of capable batsman creating healthy competition than his own limitations.

He should be let free and allowed to go for his shots, thats the best way to play him.

I'm usually not the type to heed to the "t20 cricket ruins cricketers" notion, but I think it's a bit true for him. He started off well in tests and after an IPL season or t20 series it affected his thinking process in tests.

India was always going to bat well second time around, Aussies missed the opportunity by batting poorly in first innings.

If you are playing him in the XI , you have to give him freedom to play shots.

First of all that shouldn't have been given out, these umpires are in a hurry to get Pujara out, twice he has successfully reviewed howlers. Thank you DRS !!!!

Both were close calls. The first one was hard to tell if he nicked it, and here it barely missed the stumps. But good thing we have DRS.

Anything above 250 would be very tough for the Aussies to chase. India is in a pole position, provided they don't bottle it here

2000 runs as Test captain both home & away:
Allan Border
Ricky Ponting
Graeme Smith
Alastair Cook
Virat Kohli

This is what you call a captain. Leading from the front , playing against his natural instincts for the betterment of the team. Not hiding behind others and calling it "tactics" :)))

India is a no 1 team truely by some distance. They are the only Asian side which can challenge Australia in Australia
Bravo.

Syed1 only comes out in situations to his liking. He will hide for few days now after NZ win, it may lengthen if India beats Aussies.

When did being an Asian team and challenging Aus in Aus elevates a team to be a truly no 1? Now winning a series in Aus will be different.

If they do go on to win this series, there will be no doubt about that. Still feel we lost a big chance in SA where our bowlers bowled out SA for less than 300 in all the 6 inns.

True that. But by that logic, who is no.1 if not India? Everybody loses overseas these days.

India is number 1 ranked team simply due to doing better than others.

I was just commenting on logic behind truly number one.

You are contradicting yourself. Either they are no.1 or they are not. What does truly no.1 even mean?

If you are trying to compare to ATG teams like Australia (1998-2007) or West Indies (1975-1989), that is non starter. No.1 team DOES mean better than everyone currently, whether they are bad or not.

Got one ...........

One more will do nicely here......

I don't think I am contradicting by pointing out that Asian team challenging Aus in Aus had nothing to do with being a truly number 1.

It is going well so far. Good to see Pujara doing well. Vijay as usual isn't contributing and KL Rahul has managed to secure his place for the second test.

Australia is playing their full strength bowling attack. I don't even remember when Josh, Starc and Cummins played together last time. To perform against them under these conditions isn't easy.

Rahane is walking wicket against spin here.

Rahane survives Lyon. Aus should open tomorrow with Lyon.

In hindsight, Rahul's attacking approach got India to a decent position. Run scoring looks very dofficult and his 44 runs seem like Gold dust.

India could win that series had India's batters been focused . Bowlers did the job so well, they made batsmen's duty easier, yet they failed. India lost a big big chance of winning there.

India's game to lose, don't see Aus batting line up chasing anything over 230.
