If you ask me, it (good boy behaviour) doesnt suit them one bit. :D

kallis? I remember, aussies got him in the world cup match by picking directly on him pre-match, something like "we would like to get kallis in ASAP" and he got out slogging.

I agree Bones - it's just not right. We are not building any pressure.

Yep that one worked on Kallis - but usually he ignores everything said on field. That was off field I guess :D

Ah go Brett Lee!!! Must be time to sack umpire :D

tendu out, was not out! hitting outside line of off stump. come on! lets get asad rauf out this time.

oops , India on the bad end again , Asad Rauf makes a mistake ,

I think Tendulkar being only like 5ft 5 " hurt him there

Lee to Tendulkar, OUT, Lee gets his man, as he pitches on a short length and gets Tendulkar back in the crease, playing down the wrong line and copping it very, very high on the knee roll again, umpire Rauf takes his time to give it out ... replays show it was indeed high and going over the top of off stump ... another of those marginal calls and Tendulkar shakes his head as he walks off

Was really aggressive appeal. They started waving both hands, all of them, completely intimidated the umpire.

My goodness lol Perth pitch.. Lee bowling.. pitched short of a length.. hitting outside the offstump... extremely unlucky to be given out.

I'm not watching it live. Was that really a horrible decision or just a marginal one?

Apparently, Asad Rauf has something against India too now. That has to be the only reason for this latest decision. Get him out of there BCCI!

That is aussie way of purchasing wicket. Won't blame rauf. Previous Lee shouted for a ridiculous leg before decision at top of his lung. Then this.. Rauf.. was mentally blackmailed to give that out.

Asad has been pretty good in this match so far.
That was a classic case of intimidation though that he gave Tendulkar out.

Going to run out of umpires India :D

I think it's time to bring Warne on...oh wait :6:
Wrong forum, we would love to see Warne anyday anytime. for that matter, i will play your Warne. :27:

57.4 Lee to Tendulkar, OUT, this time Lee gets his man, he pitches short of a length and gets Tendulkar back in the crease, playing down the wrong line, the ball hit him on the top of the pad and at the time of contact Tendulkar was jumping in the air, Lee appeals confidently and umpire Rauf eventually raises the finger ... replays show it was indeed high and going over the top of the stumps ... Tendulkar shakes his head as he walks off
SR Tendulkar lbw b Lee 71 (129b 9x4 0x6) SR: 55.03

Hmm nice insight. Poor umpires. But credit to them for creating opportunities

Was Symonds LBW appeal out?
Ok. Even. But point to be noted, very intimidating appeal, umpire totally lost his mind. Spirit of the game, hard, fair etc?

it was a bad decision , but in all fairness when I looked at the first time I thought it was out as well.

only with replays i could see it hit higher , real life it seems that it hit a little lower. I think every umpire besides Taufel and Dar would have given that out.

and this is not to defend Rauf because he is Pakistani. Its a fair opinion. At lees pace it jsut looked the ball hit him a lot lower

It was nothing but initmidatory appealing.

Our appeal is intimidatory now? Did we shout too loud?

What is next, bowlers run up is too aggressive?

I can wear most of the criticism of the Aussie team but not for appealing for a wicket - come on you have Anil Kumble captaining your team. :) The walking LBW appeal.....

No Symonds LBW was also not 100% clear out. It was marginal. It would have just clipped the bails.

In Sydney, more plumb lbws were not given against Hayden & Hussey in the same over from Kumble.

Hopefully similar decisions is given against Aus too during their innings.

Not out..

Yes not out said the umpire so it was not out (even though it would have clipped the stumps)

Tendulkar out said the umpire so it was out. That's the breaks...

Dude.. i am not complaining. Rauf was forced to give out that decision thanks to that "pleading for life" appeal earlier. There is no other reason would give that as out.

Unfortuntely his appeals seem more like a desperate cry most of the time. Also, our own guys sometimes dont support him in his appeals :P

If Rauf looks back he would be disappointed. But from an indian perspective.. why can't those marginal calls go against tailenders. always goes against Tendulkar or Dravid or Ganguly. Overall Rauf did a decent job today.. It is more disappointing for us since it was Tendulkar.. playing for the last time at Perth.. was in good touch to get a 100.

Ah maybe he gave it out because he thought it would hit the stumps?

If Rauf only gave it out because of the appeal and not because he thought it was out then he should not be umpiring.

Well it was close call which could have gone either way, but usually benefit of doubt should go to the batsman. Until and unless the umpire is damn sure he should not give the batsman out. In this Rauf had some doubt, and he gave it to the appeal by Brett Lee. I would not complain if Rauf is consistent in the remainder of the match.

I think let's not scold Rauf for just bad decision... I'm sure he already would be under too much pressure later today when he would see these replays!

All is well, till he's consistent ...

there you go Indian , Bowden just gave you one back

as Chappel said that would have knocked middle out

Well that was plumb and not given. I wonder if the Indian whinging will stop now.

Was nice to see the frustrated look on Ponting's face. I am sure if it was McGrath was there, he would have slapped Billy

Maybe the umpire didnt think so

Well it says not out in the book.

Just funny that people start howling because of the Tendulkar decision and then it evens out.

For one tendu, we need 5-6 Dravids. It will probably even out then.

Aussies have got this habit of getting a few wickets in the last half hour. lets see what they pull out here

Tait has bowled crap today - so much for 160 kph.

Looks overawed and is running in much slower than I have seen him.

On that note, dont know why he even runs, almost has a stop at the crease at the time of delivery.

Yawn South Africa - coming to beat us again with your fearsome bowlers no doubt

Nor our fearsome bowling as much as your straight up and down bowling ....even andre nel can move the ball sideways and he's useless....

well given not out again. That was going to crash in on middle/leg

2 lives for Dravid thanks to Billy

Actually it's the other way around. As a neutral, I feel that Dravid is a much more important cog in the Indian batting line-up that Sachin is. Or at least he has been for the past 6-8 years.

When his rhythm is right he doesn't have that stop - but you are right atm he seems to be slowing down as he comes into his delivery stride and then almost stops before bowling so it is all the arm. Still sent a few past the outside edge though.

Dravid batting really well here - the class players in the Indian batting have come to play today.

We shall see what happens later this year. :19:

But agree this Australian bowling attack is nothing compared to the previous McGrath, Clark, Lee, Warne

Or McGrath, Gillespie, Warne, (insert random seamer)

Another one out! A couple more and things are looking up.

Australia have bounced back well in this session. Match is evenly poised now. Hope these two add another 50 odd runs tomorrow.

Good comeback from Australia - it was pretty hot there today.

Lee continuing to bowl well, Clark & Johnson OK, Tait no good - should bowl better tomorrow hopefully.

Poor shots got rid of Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman - needed someone to go on and make a big score on this pitch. Still, nearly 300 runs on the board is good work on the first day, gives India a chance if they can bowl well tomorrow at an inexperienced Aussie opening pair and an out of form captain (but no Bhaji!!! :D )

For all the hype, chin music and bloody nose promises, Tait has been a disappointment on day 1. India have themselves to blame for not being in a better position.

What do you guys think of Symonds subdued response to Dravid's wicket. Was he making a point against the criticism of exuberant celebrations in the Sydney game. Seemed quite in contrast to his own excitement when Hussey caught Ganguly.

India could have claim the day had not the un-intelligent shots of Dravid and Laxman. now the rest of the batsmen are going to add utmost 60-65 runs to the total.

Good day of cricket :19: ! Some good batting alongside rash strokes combined with good bowling with some poor deliveries.

Let´s hope for some more such cricket over the next four days :19: .

If India can cluster together another 100 runs it will be very hard for australia to win this one....anything less than 350 will see australia back in the game though...

I went to sleep after Jaffer's wkt, too pis*** to see the expected parade. So it's a pleasant surprise to see India close in on 300. I don't think 400 is possible but even 350 is a fighting total.

:( :( slept through most the match ..

caught the first hour and perth didn't live up to all the hype.

seemed like a decent batting track.

Yes, when indian FTB's score some runs in Australia, especially at Perth, then the pitch must be a road.

I wonder how it behaved a few years back when other sub continent teams played there. must have been bouncing like a concrete pitch! :))

too bad so sad kashif

anyways it's pretty even at the moment. Tendulkar and Dravid played really well and Tait looked like nothing dangerous. Upto Dhoni now to take us to 400

He doesn't do anything with the ball !

go back to bowling school Tait ! Even andre Nel is better than you !

Perth is a known graveyard for subcontinent teams. Today Indians countered very well. Now they say "it is flat" blah blah. Perth has always been a good batting wicket if you get through the initial part.

????

it's a fair track..

decent for batting and bowling ...

certainly not the monster it was being hyped as.

Definitely our day.

India needed to get 450 as a minimum to bat us out of the game here. If we can knock them out in the next 50-70 runs it will be a guaranteed victory for us.

As for the pitch.....Perth USE to be a fast and bouncy wicket. However in the last 3-4 years or so it has lost its pace and bounce. This pitch has got some of it back but it is by no means a return to the glory days of Perth's past.

A pitch is a monster or not is determined by quality of batsmen. Perth has always been a good batting surface. Look at ozzies. all of them average 50 plus on this very same pitch. How come Australian batting always succeeds here.

Australia way behind the over rate today - Ponting will have to hand over some cash the way this is going.

It's always going to happen when you are rotating four quicks, particularly guys like Lee, MJ and Tait that bowl off reasonably long runups. Ponting will definitely be fined at some point.

It is a quick track with good bounce but that is what quality batsmen make runs on as the ball comes onto the bat and you can hit through the line trusting the bounce.

Don't understand why we didn't open the bowling with Lee and Tait - Tait can swing the ball at pace. India gambled on Sehwag and it paid off. Aus went conservative from the start.

I knew from the start that this was not going to be the trampoline that a number of (non) experts were implying before the game - it was going to be faster than it has been in the past few years but nothing like what it was in the past. It's always been a pitch where you can score runs if you play to the pitch.

That said, 350 would be a pretty good score I reckon. With the heat, it will start cracking over the next couple of days which will bring Kumble into play.

The only thing that bothers me about this Ausralian bowling line up is that they are making the Indian batsmen look good these last 2 games....when in fact the reality is the bowlers are just not worth anything ....

LOL at Saffer - the day you lot don't manage to lose to a rabble like the West Indies, you will be qualified to compare your team with India or Australia. Plus your only decent bowler just retired. Till then have fun swimming with the rest of the minnows.

LOL at Jackal. Sh!t happens dude - you will get given out when you are not out, and you will get given not out when you are out. That's cricket. And what's this "mentally blackmailed" stuff? You don't get a dismissal if you don't ask the question. It's the umpire's job to make the decision - nobody blackmails him or anything.

I didn't want to get into this whole umpiring debate again, but if you're going to mention "ridiculous LBW decisions" why don't you mention Kumble appealing whenever the ball hits the pads when he bowls? I have no issue with that. THE WAY CRICKET'S DISMISSAL RULES GO, IF YOU DON'T APPEAL THE UMP IS NOT GOING TO GIVE BATSMEN OUT OF HIS OWN VOLITION.

Come on mate, regain some perspective. The rest of your countrymen have a much more unbiased perspective - at least they are willing to mention when decisions go in your favour. The only time you mention umpiring is when India get a bad one. Why is this?

This pitch was never going to be a monster. It's fast and bouncy, but people who were suggesting it was the bounciest pitch ever were just overhyping things.

If you are a good batsman, and you're patient, you can score runs on this wicket.

India threw away a good opportunity to score 400+ runs .with the kind of weak bowling we have 400+ is a must .

It happens. Dravid probably one of the most sensible batsman India has produced. must be more disappointed than all of us. But he insists that shot was on. So it is no point in blaming them. Only because they were positive India was able to score some runs. If they kept leaving the ball eventually they will get a good one and get out. 2 wickets fallen at the end. That's okay. Not everyone can be perfect every single delivery. India should put up a total over 350 then bowl tight.

Jackal ,i am not blaming them . They did a fantastic job ,played positively contrary to what many poeple believed .I am happy with that .As u said ,thats the beauty of test cricket ,fortunes swings .
