What's new

Australia vs India | 4th Test | Sydney | Jan 3-7, 2019 | Day 2 Thread

Double century lads? :vk2

What's with you. You seems to be delighted he didn't get 200. Such a low minded thought, your whole team can't make this much in SA in any innings. Try to appreciate other performance.

That knock probably won the series here. Indians don't need to hit out here. Just need to keep batting.

Zakaz Bhai , before you celebrate too much please remember this. If India win this test , we would have won 3 tests in Australia in the last 40 days or so which Pakistan have managed in the last 40 years or so. An eye opener for you brother. :)

For someone whose team has been getting hammered in Australia for the last 2 decades, you talk way too much.

We all know this team is nothing compared to the Australia of last 2 decades.

Pujara is all class.

"This" Australian team managed to draw a match in the fortress.

Lol what are you saying? They didn't even play Cummins and Hazlewood in UAE. That was an Australia 'D' team and PAK still needed to win both tosses and a once in a blue moon performance from Sarfraz to beat them 1-0. :)))

please delete... thanks.

If Pant does his first ball singles with tail on other side(once again) it would be unforgivable.

Pant is third highest run getter this series." -- 40 runs more and he'll be second on the list.

Interesting to see Pant putting a price on his wicket. There is no need for him to get aggressive. He is just knocking the ball around and killing time in the middle.

Australian have been bruttaly hammered by the Indians. 500 runs on the card. Its really a shame for them.

Aussies have been batted out of the game. Very well played by India. New crop of Indian batsmen is very impressive. Mayank, Pant, Vihari, everyone chipping in.

What a performance by India! Impressed

This is the Indian batting I remember from 2017 before they went to SA and England. Score big and bat the opposition out of the game.

Which genius thought that picking a part time spinner like Marnus Labuschagne against this Indian side would be a good plan?

Pant has ended Saha's career sadly but one never know how things shape up..

Pakistan should feel lucky that they aren't playing any test series against this Indian side.

If we don't find anyone else , we can groom Pant purely as a number 6 batsman and slot saha in at 7. Drop rahane for good. I'm a fan of Saha's.

Pant does look like he is a good learner. today he resisted his plea to go for big shots against Lyon & Labuschange earlier. Now looking good for 100 as well.

Bangladesh should feel luckier for not playing series with India despite extremly friendly relations.

Saha's wicketkeeping has served India well. Not sure if Pant's wicketkeeping is good enough at this point to not bring Saha back in the team.

Drop Rahane for Gill.

I would like to see this lineup in tests

Mayank
Shaw
Pujara
Kohli
Gill
Vihari/Pandya
Pant

What lol Pant is ever improving. Not like Saha didn't make mistakes. Pant brings lot of energy. Provides excellent balance. Saha is over-rated. He had couple of a good series. That's it.

Pant is as good against the quicks. Only way to develop against the spinners is by keeping against them. He is the long term keeper and needs to be given those opportunities.

Saha has also been broken for a long time now.

Saha is better than pant at wk for sure but he too is not perfect.

It's already a weak batting lineup. Pant is a silver lining and that is shocking to me. The way he is batting with maturity is at odds with what I saw in LOIs. Saha is done and dusted. Pant had a hundred in Eng, couple of 90s and now close to another hundred in AUS. He scored close to 260 runs without breaking a sweat in this series so far. Hos keeping was good too. He's here to stay and after the WC, will be India's no.1 keeper in all formats.

Difference between saha the keeper and pant the keeper can be measured in kilometers my friend. Pant is a batsman who can keep, saha is a keeper who could bat.

Saha is so under rated by fans.

He is one of the best keepers the world has ever seen.

But not so good with the bat. Mediocre infact. With no.6 spot still in the air and Rahane very inconsistent, Keeper needs to bat well. Saha can't fit that role anymore.

Can we afford to play a keeper who can barely bat outside India?

At this point, the difference in their batting skills can be measured in miles

That's what the logic says but Rahane will be in the team to fill the Mumbai quota. Shastri will make sure Rahane and probably Rohit are around

Pant is at this moment well on his way to become India's greatest ever keeper-batsman.

That is bit of a stretch lol. He is poor man's mushfiqur rahim. Clueless batsman. He missed easy stumping in Srilanka.

He certainly dropped his fair share of catches against the quicks.

He is not a very good keeper against faster bowling. His long absence has made people forget all his drops.

Don't get carried away. Pant's Test average is 38, Saha's is 31, that's a difference of only 7. However, a dropped catch can cost a team 20 runs on average. I am not implying Pant drops one more catch per match, but dropped catches need to be considered when making a comparison.

Yup. I have seen the so called best ever missing atleast 5 chances during last home stretch. It is a common practice to hail someone the best ever if he is good at one aspect compared to other aspect. I have seen Sarfaraz hailed best ever player of spin just because he is good at spin and incompetent against pace.

Couple of dramatic catches everyone act like he has 100% record in catching and stumping lol No he doesn't He immensely affects the balance.

Yes 1 missed chance clearly proves he was a mediocre keeper, kohli must be poor man's Chris Martin by that standard what with his 8 ducks in test cricket.

Against spin. Ever seen is a bit of a stretch but certainly in the modern era.

Most subcontinental keepers from the 70s and 80s were very good against spin.

Against pace too.

Couple of drops in Raipur doesn't make him a poor keeper.

The flying catch of Umesh was incredible.

Has been consistently good against pacers too.

Saha does not have the X-factor in him and is a very timid player, I still remember the way he got out(bowled) to Lyon in the Adelaide test last time around, when only 60+ runs were required to win the test match. I hope, he wont make a come back to the Test team again!

Scores less but scores important runs.

Saved India's *** on the Kolkata seamer friendly track.

Would hav come good in SENA. Not statistically but impact wise.

And i love Pant.

Agree. He may be a good wicket keeper but his batting was always rank ordinary.

Pant's average is almost 45 (though of course a wicket will bring it down) and these are in much more challenging conditions. He is India's 3rd best bat.

I get what you are saying but that is a bad example, how many times has pant thrown away his wicket needlessly when India required him to bat well.

I have seen definite improvement in Pant's keeping this series. But it's his batting that has been a revelation. The headless chicken in T20s is not the guy I saw in tests. The way he negotiated Lyon and pacers all series shows he's got time and dare I say, temperment. He's still a work in progress but this series has cemented his place I'm sure.
