What's new

Australia vs India | 4th Test | Sydney | Jan 3-7, 2019 | Day 2 Thread

Scores less but scores important runs.

Saved India's *** on the Kolkata seamer friendly track.

Would hav come good in SENA. Not statistically but impact wise.

And i love Pant.

Saha was a weak batter SIF. Not sure why you think he's an impact batter. India needs someone that can take the game away from the opposition and Pant suits that role better then Saha.

Shaw is from Bihar, his actual surname is Gupta & Pandya is Gujju. Even Rohit is not actually Marathi, we do not have any batters in the current team like olden days :|

It might be due to descrimination or jealousy towards mumbai people. Looking at how much cricketing infrastructure and economy Mumbai provides, there should be at least one Mumbai player in the Indian team.

He's a weak batsman.

No questions about that but he wasn't useless like people are making him out to be.

What is with the talk about declaration by everyone at commentary ? Why not keep batting as long as possible ?

Tim Paine's predictable tactic of setting defensive field for Pant from the get go, played right into his hands of Pat.

550 is a good score to declared at. Australia will take a lot o time to match that score. In the process could lose a few wickets.

Saha should Open and see off the new ball, he would show more determination than Rahul!

Kohli being patient with Pant's century,he was patient with Karun Nair's triple as well before dropping him off , you never know with Kaptaan.

Karun was given few more opportunities, apart from that triple he did nothing. BTW KLRahul scored 199 in the same match, look at how he regressed. Probably they are 1 season wonders.

His 2nd test ton in 7 tests, with 2 '90s as well!

Impressive. If only he can improve his keeping (and chirping!)....

Well played rishab pant, so sad that kohli can't captain a odi team and thus the ranchi has been is still allowed to play for India.

He holds the record for highest catches in a series by any Indian. Do you know how horribly Kirmani started his career before becoming a decent one? Pant is far better than.

Why the heck they brought Dhoni back in. Damn. this kid is in awesome form. Technically much better.

Yeah but the amount of opportunities given to Rahul/Sharma/Dhawan vs Karun is a joke ,I imagine similar fate for Mayank/Vihari/Pujara as Karun incase of non-performance.

Never said, he can't improve...Thats what I'm hoping for actually,...

You consider RP to be technically better than MSD !!!! The kid is just starting his career. Give him a year or so before making that comparison

Tbh credit for that goes more to our bowlers for creating so many caught-behind chances. SENA keepers usually have the record for most catches while subcontinent keepers have the record for most stumpings.

At 21 Pant is made himself known to Aussies ,kudos to him, second highest run getter for now.

This!

Apart from a few, others were regulation catches which any WK worth his salt will pouch.

Who'd have thought before this series started that Pant will overtake Kohli in most runs scored table?

So is Lyon best spinner in world now? I'm asking this as the standards set for Ashwin are far higher!!

Yeah lol sounds ridiculous but guess Aus has been good exposure for the man, glad we didn't go back to Parthiv.

All credit to Pujara for wearing them out in back to back tests. You could clearly see a tired Australian side. They barely have any energy left.

He threw his wicket away atleast 4 times because tail was exposed. Otherwise his average would ahve been much better.

Whatever people say about Pant, he'll be first choice WK in most test XIs today except for SA & Eng...

lol, now even Khwaja has been handed over the ball.

What are you talking about ? Kirmani was excellent right from the first test. Kirmani has been the best wicketkeeper that India ever had.

I'll take him above QdK in tests. He has been exposed quite badly recently and drops a lot of regulation catches.

More than a decent chance of Uzzy outscoring Kohli in the series now. Well played Punter.

@everyone 3-1 is still better than 2-1..jus saying

Yes but both look better than 2-2 and this pitch is way worse than mcg, there at least there was variable bounce we don't even have that here.

I'm pessimist so I'm saying if India manage to lose from here then really need to go and look at itself.

You are an optimist to go for the win .... I’m the pessimist here wanting to give no chance to Australia whatsoever ..

Test cricket is funny game ... No big demons in Pitch so far .. it will be good for batting until day four .. So why give Australia the chance?

There is something called scoreboard pressure. It is not like they have Virendar sehwag or Gilchrist.

Didn't India lose a test in Aus in 00s after scoring around 540 in first inning?

I recall Eng losing after putting 500+ in Aus.

There are some who thinks this worn out Australian side can still win this test lol. You do remember even if they equal this score they have to take 10 more wickets agianst India right?
