What's new

Australia vs Pakistan | 2nd Test | Adelaide | Nov 29 - Dec 3, 2019 | Day 3 | Match Thread

This is seriously un-aussie approach. Not going for the kill

He is resting his quicks and is probably happy for this to be prolonged so the next innings starts around twighlight period.

Pak should look to maximise runs in the window before that and risk getting out so they don't have to face a new cherry under the lights

they can collapse on phatta wickets of UAE.

Once CI started to upload archived Test match score cards, I actually have gone through the scorecards of every Test since 1876... The greatest collapse I can recall is PAK's ~100 against Deverndra Bishu, with a Pink Ball and under dew .... on a wicket where in first innings PAK declared at 580-3, and WIN scored like 350 in last innings, against Yasir bowling non stop from other end - so, you never know!!!!!!!!!!

Because:

Shadab Khan scored a fifty and took 4-80 two Tests ago. His replacement Iftikhar has managed no runs and no wickets.

Faheem Ashraf played that Test too and took 6-99. Three times as many wickets as Imran, Naseem, Abbas and Musa combined have taken in two Tests.
His replacement was Yasir till he made all the runs. :yk

Basically the world bowling is like they can't take wickets with older ball. Just see off first 30 overs you can pile up runs.

I have seen them collapse against Marcus North on English ptches lol. At least Bishu is a regular spinner.

How are Pakistan going to even get one wicket lol, this pitch is a highway

Now, I believe Aussies will enforce the follow-on - these two last pair have scared them ... they'll keep 200 overs at hand for 10 2nd innings wickets.

2nd innings is a different kettle. The reason is the mindset of batsmen. They can't do the same in the 2nd innings as if they lose wickets they lose the test. They will be a lot more circumspect.

Gosh it’s gona be embarrassing for batsmen if Yasir gets ton
Though it already is

Yes. That magical period when the pink ball speeds up, bounces more and swings and seams in opposite directions in one delivery. Neither dogs can hear it nor bats see it then . A certain English poster can confirm it for us :srini

Please note that it is only for one hour, not two. Second hour ball becomes flat and even tailenders will score centuries
#WitchingHour

Even Saqlain Mushtaq scored a century in Newzealand so there is no surprise if Yasir is scoring.

Do you reckon the gate ticket sales have anything to do with the Ozzies releasing the pressure?

Abbas has them running scared :abbas

This is not the Lyon i have seen at the Adelaide oval. He would turn square usually. What happened to his bowling.

Top order should be really ashamed of themselves.

they have mentality of kids. a bit pressure and they forget how to bat. Asad angle bat edge despitr 70 tests experience was pathetic and the way Azhar tried to play off side ball to leg side was also poor. These are basic things and these so called seniors can't even get it right after playing for 10 years

Worst part is - they are coward, looses marble when chips are down. Once McGrath was hit for couple of boundaries by Sarwan ... so he asked him - how it tastes to suck Lara's C**k. Sarwan responded that, you should ask your wife .... and McGrath raised question of spirit .... because his wife was suffering from cancer!!!!!

Our Ashraful is B-kolom (can't speak even Bangla properly), but Bashar has a Masters from DU... so, in that famous game that we won, when Ash started his innings, Aussies started their antics - Basher told Ash that don't listen, keep playing your game ... Ash assured him that whatever they are talking, he didn't understand a single word.... But, Basher later said that at times he felt complaining to umpires.

Now, in last 50 runs when victory was insight, Ashraful started to respond Aussies based on their body language and facial reaction ... with his classic Dhakaiya vocabulary .. 'mathar - ch*d; Khank**r pola, tor ma re ....' - these are universal language - everyone understands. ... and he showed Hayden (or Ponting) handle of his bat in a strategic way, using his fingers of other hand nicely .....

As Basher told - Aussies became surprisingly silent that time ....... just like when they were caught read handed with sand paper.

Ha ha. Glorious.

Although the pitch is flat, bowling attack is world class. So it is a creditable achievement by Yasir.

But, bowlers will be tiered as well.

Technically, 2nd innings runs sounds great, but I have analysed many times - the most valuable innings is like a 213 on Day 1 or 2 (2nd innings of the game), against fresh bowlers, that sets up the game. That's why I actually rate Lara's 214 at Kingston '99, one of the best ever innings - he dominated a full blooded Aussie attack to submission and snatched Frank Worell Trophy alone from Aussies iron grip. And, that's why to Junaids' disgust - I rate YK's 217 at Oval one of ATG Test innings..............

It will be interesting to see the performance of tailenders againgst different teams that too after a collapse.

No - but had PAK been all-out inside first hour, I believe Aussies would have batted long enough to take the game to Day 4 at least.

Feel Sorry for Babar to miss out hundred. Hope Yasir make it.
Shame on Misbah buddies Iftikhar, Azhar and Shafiq

When other commentators don't get Wasim's lame jokes, Wasim quickly turns to stats..:))):)):)))

How many proper leggies have 100s? I know Kumble got 110. Benaud has 3 centuries but he was an all rounder. Warne got 99. Qadir/Mushi/Chandra didn't get that.

Mushtaq had 10 I believe and Intekhab 2, Wasim Raja 4(?). Probably L Brand one as well in 1900s.

Shiva used to bowl leggi and SRT has about 100 International wickets with leg spin .....
