The forecast for Sydney is for only a shower or two. It should be fine, though mostly cloudy, during the day. Fingers crossed they get a game, we've had enough cricket washed out in Sydney including the third women's one-dayer yesterday between Australia and England.

Game about to start in a few minutes

1.50pm News just in, Australia have won the toss and will bat.

Australia look like this: 1 Adam Gilchrist (wk), 2 Matthew Hayden, 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Clarke, 5 Michael Hussey, 6 Andrew Symonds, 7 James Hopes, 8 Brad Hogg, 9 Brett Lee, 10 Mitchell Johnson, 11 Nathan Bracken

James Hopes????
im sure they have a better allrounder in their system
He is quite useful. Not the most gifted but still quite a useful cricketer.

hayden and gilchrist start their last series together.

Look at the aussie team
they have nothing but stars on every number, james hopes name in the middle of that line up just doesnt do any justice

Yeah he isn't as good as the rest but the in the last series against IND he played few really crucial innings

malinga pushing 150kph in his first over.

ozzies once again showing their weakness to gentle swing ..

kamran hussein should def be an option for the australian tour.

save for a Jayasuriya blitz (which is quite likely given his record at this ground) I think Aus will win this one.

It will be very hard to get K Hussian in the team and even more difficult for him to get the new ball.

SJ won't do anything. There will be some swing for the fast bowlers tonight so i expect him to score less than 15

Opening batters, opening bowlers thats our strength :19:

Yet another 50 for Gilchrist!

Very Well Played Gilly :14:

What the hell is Silva doing... he's only scored 3 runs in the 30 or so balls he's played; he's really digging Sri Lanka a huge hole.. meanwhile his partner at the other end has 41 off 39 (Sangakarra). Stark difference in S/R b/w the two and Silva really needs to pick up his game!

Sangakarra furious with himeslf for getting out... he departs and SL r gonna be goin downhill now... little change to them. Aus look set to take lead while India will be behind them in 2nd place in the tournament!

Sri Lanka 110/8

Bracken has been outstanding tonite with 4 wkts.

Bracken should get man of match. Hes a very good ODI bowler.

Looks like India was robbed of a win against Lanka by rain!!
Come on SL, buck up, give some fight to the Aussies will ya?

Lankans depend on one man while batting. Sangakkara. Rest do well in patches.

Sri lanka are highly dependant on their top 4 scoring 75-80% of runs in games and if they get knocked over cheaply the rest tend to just fold.

It might become difficult for SL to pick themselves up after this, particularly if India wins tomorrow. That would leave SL way behind on the points table with 2, Aus 6, India 8.

I still believe that SL team is comparatively better than India team given the value of experience with the respective teams. India team has more players that hold promise, SL has more 'proven' players.

That said, today's performance by the SL team was downright pathetic. The three-pillars, Jaya, Sanga, Jayasuriya really let the team down.
