What's new

Awkward moments...

They don't mind being called ma'am. I hate that word though, along with madam and miss.

Why??!! Did you do it deliberately?? I mean wouldnt you just call her "Miss" or something. Anything other than Mam lol. The poor teacher, Being called Mam all day haha

lol never thought of those things, plus the teacher's don't care as well.
It is just a word used to address them, no feelings attatched :moyo

I don't call them by any name. Feels weird.

In Medical colleges you've to call them Doctor which is fine.

I see there's been a misunderstanding.

Mam and Ma'am are too different words.

Ma'am is short for madame and is polite

Mam is your mother

Calling your teacher Mam is the equivalent of calling her "ماں" (i hope thats correct)

I called my teacher "Mam" once when i was 8

I haven't come across a girl who doesn't love M&Ms. Is this awkward?

But know-one calls their mom as mam!
Never heard of that!

Obsession of girls with chocolate or anything related to it is awkward. If its a girl you know she is going to love chocolates.

This Mam vs Ma'am debate reminds me of the movie "Snatch." Turkish and Tommy are talking to Mickey and the other Irish Travelers, who want a caravan, which is ironic because it was Turkish and Tommy who wanted one to begin with.

Mickey: Its not for me. It's for my Mam.
Turkish and Tommy (with incredulous looks on their faces): Your what?
Irish Travelers (in unison): HIS MAM!

Then they hand over a picture of Mickey's mum.

I said "love u" to one few weeks ago. I am glad I am a regular and she is kind of a friend so it went all in laughs and she replied back in same otherwise would have been dead awkward, I had this habit from old times to say it after take care so it just came out automatically.
Jab larka-larki raazi, tou kya kareyga qaazi:asadrauf? Did you say in German or in English?

What's happening to PP thesedays?

Especially Time Pass. Every thread seems to have merged into one mega "let's just senselessly chat" without any regard to the context of the thread.

Getting pretty boring to be honest.

Suddenly come to remember a somewhat awkward moment for ~Red Devil~ bhai from a conversation with me:

Now, the Urdu word "pee" (derived from the word "peena", which means "To drink") has a different meaning in English as the educated folks out there would know. So "pi" wasn´t an option either due it its pronunciation in 'Life of Pi' (2012). So he goes on to spell it with three Es ("peee") and I immediately drew his attention to his sharp-mindedness.

:))

That was hilarious.

The awkward moment when you ask someone to repeat themselves twice yet you still don't understand what they said

What did he say? Must have been something great to leave you speechless :))

You're too old. I'm talking about 5 year olds and stuff.

Nothing now, but it's happened. The sort of thing that ticks you off but when you start to say something you think, "he's a kid, what the hell am I supposed to say?"

Sorry for asking, it was personal.

Was a very good thread this, shame it has turned into a random talk one. Just teenagers with nothing to do after school posting nonsense.

The awkward moment when every thread in the time pass section is the same.

That awkward moment when children call you "uncle" when you're 14 years old.
Happened to me while distributing sweets at a wedding

I felt pretty awkward when I was called an uncle for the first time. Now I find it very, very cute.

:)))

Spelling it as "pea" would have been a good idea I reckon.

So there´s this Bollywood film called 'Policegiri', and yesterday my elder sister ended up misreading it as "PoliceGirl":)). More of an embarrassing moment for her than anything else. She requested me not to tell her husband as he would make fun of her. Well fine, he doesn´t have a PP account though.

Hmmm.... I can´t remember what ~Red Devil~ bhai wanted to say exactly, but the sentence surely wasn´t "Mei´n abhi pee ke aya.... "

The awkward moment when you go to a mall with your sister and your old high school friend thinks shes your gf. (true story, happen to me once before)

This reminds me of a time I picked up the DVD of Blades of Glory from a DVD shop in Pindi.

Opened up the CD. The shop-owner had written on the obviously duplicated CD - "Bloods of Group".

The same shop owner also recommended I purchase Contagion because he said it was a hit. Except he called it Container.

Reading fail.

Hahahahaha:)))! Both are crackers!

Mind you, I have heard quite a few Pakistanis pronounce 'Titanic' like "tai-tanic", which in Punjabi would mean, "Two and a half tanic."

The awkward moment when the girl who lived for six years next door who never spoke/smiled/acknowledged my presence bumps into a friend of mine and raves about the close friendship she shared with me  .

Lol. Amazing.

Once I asked the same movie shop owner what the latest movie out was and he said 'Swaaaaaat' (SWAT) but pronounced like elongated cat

The awkward moment when you are walking home and you see your Indian neighbour defecating on the road because he wants to recreate his youth.

Excuse me while I go sit in the corner and die of hernia.

That awkward moment when you tell a woman her son looks good only to be told he is her elder brother. What makes it even more awkward is she is your girlfriend. Becomes triple awkward when you go in expecting to be slapped only to get appreciated as sarcasm.

Lol.

I've told someone their son is cute and been told it's a girl. This has happened twice.

I'm extremely sarcastic in real life. So even my genuine appreciation is seen as mocking and some acidic insults are seen as jokes. I told my girlfriend she looks good and she is eyeballing me like I called her fat. Come on... :|
