Bangladesh [249/7] beat Afghanistan [246/7] by 3 runs in Asia Cup Super Four encounter

Afghanistan despite losing to Pakistan have some momentum they won their other games prior and almost caused a huge upset. Bangladesh has not looked too convincing
 
Afghanistan will win. Afg is boogey team for BD. BD on low confidence, batting order is a mess. And the opening pair is a misfit for international cricket at top level, Litton Das is a hack. Shakib is never a #3 and should be at #5 for ODI, Mossadekk adds nothing but takes up a spot as a passenger. Mahmudullah gone asleep, the fizz lost his mojo. No experienced Tamim Iqbal hurts BD set up badly, now only Mushy is real main batting reliability but he too isn’t 100% fit.


So result will mean and be 5 loses to Afghanistan across format. Thank God they’ve got test status prior to that, otherwise it would’ve been worse disgrace losing to ‘associate’ side 5times in a row across format. Phew!

Advance congrats to Afghan brothers.

IMO Bangladesh will win this. Don't think they are going to lose to Afghanistan two times in a row.

Have lost 4 games (3 in T20s and one in ODI, in a row now to Afg). What makes you think they cannot lose again?
This BD batting is hella weak! It would’ve been stronger had Soumya and Sabbir been there and performing bit consistent as these two add power, bigger threats and have played a lot of cricket since last world cup. I miss Sabbir in the side he is one player has the power and shots just look at what he did against SL in the last Asia cup when BD was 2-2 early on!

I could’ve understand if both Mushy and even Mortaza being rested last game. Mushy carrying injury to his ribbor or somewhere, Mash playing two back to back and with all his injury probs it’s too much for him. But Mustafizur being rested, he is a youngster and fit?! Why was he rested? Fizz could’ve cleaned up Afghan tail and target been under 210. BD still might’ve lost but the way afg batted towards the end took the whole momentum with them. If it was under 200 BD batsmen would’ve took time and had more confidence.

Right. They have no shame loosing to AFG so many times. All they had to do was win against SRL and AFG matches thats all. Any win against IND or PAK would've been bonus but was not required especially without the full strength team.
 
I actually want Bangladesh to win looking at scenarios.

If Pakistan loses to India today, Pak vs Bangladesh on 25 becomes virtual Quarter Final knockout.

If Pakistan wins against India today, Pak vs Bangladesh can cause India to be knocked out if Bangladesh win against Pakistan and India slip against Afghanistan.

A Bangladesh win would be good for competition scenarios.

Well let's just focus on Afghanistan first.

Last time they had a 100 run margin on you, which is not easy to overcome.

Think Pakistan, even with that performance against Afghanistan, will have enough in the tank to go past Bangladesh.

I don't think Fizz is a threat to any batsmen,any team. Let's see today. He is so disappointing as a bowler now. Batsmen are not worried about him at all now a days.
 
Mushfiqur will be the key as Shakib is struggling at 3. Tamim really is a huge miss. He would have done well in these conditions.
 
I think Afghanistan will win this. They have the spinners for these conditions and Bangladesh have struggled in must win games.

Being too positive isn’t good for your ph level😁.

Any clue about the starting XI? Another English coach & he hasn’t tried the other SLAO spinner in squad so far and we have played games at Abu Dhabi - only guy not to get a game, even in the dead rubber.

To be honest - no. It’s in Dubai on a true surface and PAK is short of 2 spinners. In any case, in Asia IND should have been favourites.

But it’s a new game, you never know - couple of early strike and IND is exposed from as early as 3rd wicket. I think, Pandeya’s injury is a blessing in disguise - now they’ll bowl 35 overs with 4 spinners and barring Malik & FZ, not many spin player in PAK line up.

And finally, in such big games, you need captain to lead from front - Sharma v Sarfraz ..... you know.

But good luck to both teams - may the better team in day wins.
 
All the things I wanted most of them are happening.Batting first, Mosaddek Rubel out, Imrul Nazmul in.i wanted ariful in place of shanto
 
Liton looking a lot more composed today especially the way he is playing Mujeeb. The key is to play him as a medium bowler who brings it into the right hander in his first spell and Liton seems to have figured it out.

Nazmul seems to be struggling a bit.

Let's target 170 first :( I think, 220 is a good score here - what we need is to play old traditional cricket here - that's take the innings to 3 down by 30th over and try to double score from there on.

Good luck & congrats to AFGs - they are definitely the better prepared team. You don't expect to win a game losing your best two batsmen run out, when you are ahead in the game.

Please change the tiger nickname. As passionate fan since childhood. its time they get rid of it until they an icc event (which is not happening till post 2023 word cup and we dont know maybe not in our lifetime)

They threw it away completely today. And nazmul is very mediocre. I think even Sowmya would have done better.

you think for fundamental cricket, you need diet and all those staff? That shot of Liton just after hitting a boundary needs a straight sacking, not diet.
 
BD should have learned from PAK. Smash Aftab and Naib and maybe Nabi. Mujeeb and Rashid's 20 overs just knock around sibngles, two's when possible. Poor planning i think.
 
Kick out all these useless new players from the team. Bring back soumya and amanul in the team. These new batters in BD team r absolutely worthless.
 
I think, AFGs will feel the stress here. 250 isn't impossible to chase as PAK showed yesterday, but AFGs let go a position of 85/5 to this. Those 2 run-outs probably cost 20 runs, but still it's a good total.
 
Tremendous comeback by BD, I particularly liked how Mahmudullah handled Rashid. I think BD are favorites to win this match by good margin. They have 3 spinners and all of them have reputation of being economical.
 
After two sloppy run outs BD were 85/5 but at the end they somehow managed to score some runs thanks to 128 run partnership between Mahmudullah-Imrul. Will 249 be enough to defend?

When was the last time BD bowling won us a match? AFG batting is no where near Pakistan. If we bowl well, BD should easily win this.

Yes,Bangladesh made a crucial decision to include 3 specialist spinner in this match. But the game isn't over yet. Afgans I don't why always feels confident against us.But our team will feel rejuvenated after reaching 249 from nowhere.Its a real fight back by the tigers.

It's a different wicket and AFG are chasing effectively close to 300 here, unless it dews like rain. Bowling picks are also good. I am actually impressed the way batsmen summed up the situation after 2 run-outs. AFGs inexperience helped but still we were 1 wicket away from collapsing under 170. Team should feel like jail break today.

Surprisingly, bowlers have won us many games, trust me - from the PAK, IND, SAF, ENG games in WC to 2 series against IND & SAF. Need to make it tight at the start, so that Shehzad doesn't blast the new ball.
 
This shanto should be kicked out immediately. Can't stand this guy.

Why our batters kept taking risk against Rashid. Wish they had a bit of brain.

At the end, celebrate in the face of Afghani players in the most cruel way possible. These guys don’t got any sportsmanship and don’t show them any either. Take off your shirts and spin them in the air, do a snake dance, mock Rashid’s celebration, be creative and have fun!
 
250 Target good recovery. In the end if someone came in and played a cameo could have got 270, Mash and Miraz could not deliver.

Shanto poor kid asked to open in a tournament like asia cup having never played odi or loi before. kid looks a fish out of the pond.

Afghanistan will chase this down, they gave good competition to Pakistan. Scored 250 against Pakistan’s bowling attack, against BD attack this will be a walk in the park.

I dont know is that confidence or arrogance with these Afghan players but we were different when we first came to play in international arena. Perhaps little bit arrogance is not a bad thing but you must not hateful to others.

Statistically speaking he is the best opener with Tamim we got. He just needed to work hard and improve on his game like Tamim did.
 
Mashrafe bowling 75 mph :))) This guy is finished man. He will lose this game as well with his pathetic trrundling.
