Bangladesh [508] beat West Indies [111 & 213] by an innings and 184 runs in the 2nd Test, lead 2-0

Congrats boys - first time I see them winning a Test with thumping domination.

I think, with 2-0, we have crossed WIN in ranking table. Miraz should be MoM & MoS as well - fantastic bowling and gutsy batting whenever called for service. And, he has taken probably 6 catches in this 2 Tests.

Congrats to my fellow bangladeshi ppers for the great win.
This the BD's first ever series win against WI at home and first ever win by innings.

Unfortunately after losing against ZIM we will still remain below WI by 1 pts with 69 points.

The Ranking predictor has changed dramatically :( Now we are 13 points behind WIN:(:(

Congratulations. Hopefully we'll continue our dominance in Lois as well.

Losing a test to Zimbabwe has hurt bd's ranking here.

That's the reason. one should value ranking, particularly in longer 2 formats - it benefits the more consistent & ruthless teams. Ranking is built on being ruthless in games that you are not expected to lose.

That's utter domination by Bangladesh. Feel sorry for WI getting crushed like this.

Impressed by Miraz - he couldn't speak in proper Bangla couple of years back, must have worked lot on his English, which actually tells about the character.

Shakib gets a MoS muft me :( Doesn't deserve it only for that shot in 2nd innings at Chittagong.

That was an unacceptable loss. And also a big big failure by BCB not to arrange a 3 test series . It would have been 2-1 and 3-0 in both the series which would have made BD surpass WI.

I thought we toured NZ last time, why are we touring them again? Shouldn't they be touring us?

I have always liked this Miraz guy ever since I saw him in under19 world cup where he was the Man of the Series. I have had high expectations from his batting which was his stronger suit in the world cup. Surprisingly, he has become bowler who could bat a bit when i thought he had all the tools to take over from Shakib but it seems he doesn't take his batting seriously. He is an exact opposite of Mahmood Ullah Riaz who came into the team as an off spinner but really worked hard on his batting and is now one of the better batsmen in the team. May be, Miraz would also find his batting mojo sooner or later or amy be not.

Yeah, they also lost an useless match against AFG in Asia cup where they lost like 5 rankings points I think.

Well afghans played superbly throughout that tournament and you can expect an upset or two here and there in lois. I'd say that BD win over Pak sort of cancelled out that loss to AFG. In test matches though you have to be absolutely ruthless especially when you play at home otherwise it will be difficult to close the gap with windies and SRL in the test rankings.

Yes. This is a good start though. Im not sure BD can compete in NZ though if the pitches are favourable to bowlers. Should look to atleast draw 1 test match but it's difficult.

Can't blame bcb for that. Nobody expected Zimbabwe of all teams to win a test and they certainly are not a top drawing cricketing nation to warrant more than two tests especially when other teams have not played more than 2 either.

No. Why would you want to invite the first non Asian team to whitewash SL in SL since 2004 to BD. Im not sure BD can beat them! They look too strong. Get SA,NZ, OZ to tour instead.

England toured not too long ago in 2016 and almost lost the series in Bangladesh

New Zealand however hasn't toured here for last 5 years

We should invite NZ and Ireland. Against Ireland prepare sporty wickets.

Top test teams like India,Australia can do that I mean they can play one or two off tests with bottom team Zimbabwe, but it is not the same case with Bangladesh. BD is just beginning to win test matches and the gap in quality with Zimbabwe is still not too great. On the other hand top test teams still are not eager to play test with us on regular basis. So whenever we play test with Zim ,WI or AFG we should play at least 3 in a series. It will definitely benefit our players.

Yes, at present ENG will feel very confident to win in Asia. Infact an Engineer vs India 5 match series in India will be a fascinating series for the viewers. We should play 3 match series with Irish, Afgans,WI,SRL and Zimb home and away. That will easily make at least 9 tests per year. I can't remember when we played 9 tests in a year last.

Last time Eng toured BD, Mehidy Hasan took 19 wickets in 4 innings. He is now a far superior bowler.

Aus would be easy team now to be beaten by BD at home. Call them and see their guts. Last time they chickeed out of that fear and canceled the tour. Chicken head Aussie.

Epic win. That should calm some nerves after losing to Zim. Was very impressed with Mehedi in the U19 WC and he has been very good for BD so far. After the WC, I thought he was a batsman that bowls a bit but it's the other way around. Kid is charismatic too. Not sure why he isn't talked along with the Shaheens, Shaws and Heymeyers....he is right up there or probably better than his compatriots.

England didn't have Foakes, Curran and Buttler in the side back then. They are much, much stronger now.

Bangladesh also didn't have Nayem Hasan, Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar. Liton Das can hit Curran for six sixes anytime of the week. Come World Cup you will see Liton Das scoring a double ton in odis against England :kohli #anedo

Height of exaggeration
Liton Das is one the most inconsistent batsman I have ever witnessed.

Curran won't be doing anything effective in BD. Actually that team that tour BD was probably stronger than the one that just toured Sri Lanka. They had their best test batsman Alistair Cook playing at that time. The players that will make difference for Eng is Moin Ali and Adil Rashid.

We should compete with Poms much better than SRL, because of the bowling combination - 6-7 left handers against 2 quality Offies isn't a good idea in turning tracks. Having said that, Liton is not going to make it much difference; rather I think the spin quartet of Shakib, Miraj, Naeem & Taijul will trouble them and we have a decent batting depth now.

Bro Liton Das hasn't boomed yet, if he comes to the party opposition are doomed. I hate posts like that oh England didn't have Kuddus Bhai, Belal Bhai, if Belal Bhai played you guys would have lost. Belal Bhai is Parar (Area) Best player, this kind of claims reminds of my childhood days when I used to say after losing a match :butt If Kuddus bhai played half of your team would have been in Hospital

CWI Release

DHAKA, Bangladesh– The WINDIES suffered an innings and 184-run defeat to Bangladesh in the 2nd Test at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The WINDIES 111 & 213 all out, with Shimron Hetmyer top-scoring in both innings with

Resuming the day on 75/5, some 433 runs behind Bangladesh’s first innings total of 508 all out. Shimron Hetmyer and Shane Dowrich started the morning looking to salvage the WINDIES first innings but it was not to be as Hetmyer was the first to fall for 39 when he gave a soft caught and bowled dismissal to Mehidy. Dowrich was not far behind as Mehidy trapped him LBW for 37. The WINDIES last two batsmen were back in the dugout with the addition of 13 runs to the overnight score.

Mehidy Hasan finished with figures of 7/58, while Shakib Al Hasan had 3/27.

The rest of the WINDIES wickets capitulated quickly, all out for 111 and well short of the follow-on score. Batting a second time the WINDIES again started on the backfoot, as captain KRaigg Brathwaite was LBW to Shakib Al Hasan for 1. Kieran Powell’s wicket soon followed after, when he charged at Mehidy and was stumped for 4. Sunil Ambris provided no support for Shai Hope as he too fell for 4, LBW to Taijul Islam, Roston Chase continued the slide as he too became a second wicket for Taijul.

Hope and Hetmyer looked set to give the WINDIES a chance to get back into the match. The pair batted sensibly against the Bangladesh spin, with Hetmyer the attacker. They had a 56-run partnetship before Hope got a top-edge which Shakib held on to firmly giving Mehidy a second wicket. Shane Dowrich was caught for 3.

Hetmyer was joined by Devendra Bishoo, who allowed him to continue his fearless batting. Hetmyer struck Shakib for 3 sixes in a single over, giving the WINDIES further hope that with the tail-enders support, Hetmyer can take the team to the Bangladesh first innings score. Mehidy returned which signaled the fall of another WINDIES wicket as Bishoo was caught for 12. With another Test century in sight, Hetmyer going for one more big shot was caught in the deep for 93, off Mehidy. A knock that included 1-four and 9-sixes, tying him with Chris Gayle for most sixes in a Test innings by a West Indian.

Kemar Roach and Shermon Lewis were the only other batsmen to offer any resistance to the bowling. They added 42 runs for the last wicket when Lewis was out LBW for 20 off Taijul. Roach remained on 37 not out, which included 7-fours.

The WINDIES losing by an innings and 184 runs. Mehidy Hasan was Player of the Match, while Shakib Al Hasan was Player of the Series. Speaking afterwards, WINDIES Captain Kraigg Brathwaite said “I think it was a very disappointing series, the bowlers did well but the batters didn’t fulfill the requirements… Being three wickets down put us behind the eight ball every game and we were struggling because of that. Conditions also play a major factor, but we just didn’t make proper shot selection at the right times. As batsmen we have to raise our hands and take responsibility for not playing well.”

MenInG Any notes on the test rankings? I see that Mehidy Hasan gained a whopping 14 points on the test bowler ranking after the WI series.
