Bangladesh v India | 1st Test | Chittagong | 17-21 Jan 10

A collapse of Pakistani proportions seems to be on for the Banglas...

I like the way SRT responded

"Sehwag said it. You have to go and ask him. I won't be answering questions of that kind."
Sachin Tendulkar refuses to enter debates over Bangladesh's ordinariness

Disappointing, toothless stuff this. :13:

I might go far as to say pathetic. Bangladesh batsmen cannot handle pace at all and he is delivering medium pace? Zaheer Khan at 34 is bowling faster. Do CricIndia still list Ishant as Phasst? :13:

These boys don't know how to play test. Right after the first wicket should have went to the umpires to check the lights. How can you bat under this dark conditions? Two wickets could have avoided. Anyways, good on Ishant and Zaheer. Round one is over. Waiting for round two to start.

BD batsmen handled Roach and Co. It is the lights (lack off) they can't handle. Situation just got worse as the day progressed.

That one won't cut. If there was lack of light, they could have spoken to the umpires and if the light meter agreed, they could have walked off.

Great start by Bangladesh ... Im rooting for BD to Win this particular Test Match.

Hope Sehwag gets some Medicine, and learn to shut his A$$ in the name of frankness.

Why will you wish for a indian loss?! ( that is..if you are indian)
Sehwag has already been made to eat extra helpings of humble pie already......... :13:

Pretty sure Roach got about 13 wickets in 2 Tests. And I recall they were not able to handle MJ up in Darwin a while ago.

Just was saying that Ishant used to be able to bowl quite phaast if he can't crank it up against the 'Desh he has lost it. Whatever it was.

Mate .. I'm an Indian... The arrogant talk in the form of frankness or straight talk that he made before start of the Test does not hold good ... He must learn to respect the opposition Team.

But this time, this so called frankness should need to haunt him ever and that would stop his blabbering. Make no mistake....

The entire Indian Press is after him for his mouth crap...

Do you think Mahi would have ever spoken like this ? That's called leadership qualities. Respect the opposition team...

No sir. We are happy because our boys answered Shewag. We know our place in test cricket. However, no one has the right to humiliate others for no reason. THat is what Shewag did. Win or lose doesn't matter, this should be a lesson for everyone, specially the wanna be #1 team leaders.

As they say 'class is permanent'. This low class attitude will never leave Shewag and his cronies.

Yup..Spot on. Totally agree. Viru's comments were uncalled for and it pays to be humble when on top.

Bangladesh did extremely well on the first day and full credit to them. Whether they can sustain their intensity is a different question . All the best to them though..

As expected. Bangladesh couldn't maintain that high standard they created on the first day. Looks like India will have a first innings lead and with Bangladesh batting second, India should win this one easily.

A lot of depends on Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur - this is the last pair that can bat.

Nope. That decision is now out of the players hands and entirely in the hands of the umpires.

The umpires have sole discretion with regards the light. The batting side cannot go to the umpires anymore (nor the fielding side for that matter).

The umpires will get together and make a decision about the light. If they decide that it is "too dark" they will send the players to the dressing room and onl;y then take a light meter reading. That light meter reading now becomes the benchmark for the rest of the test match.

Even if the batters say to the umpires that the light is fine and they want to continue they will have to accept the umpires ruling.

Indeed? When did that happen? Got a link?

Apparently it changed quite recently. No link though. I will try and find something. Bishy spoke about it at length during the final test of eng vs sa.

Nice recovery by my boys, 6/173.

Go the mighty tigers!!

If by some of fate India lose this series they will go to number 3 in the rankings. Would that be funny or what? :D

And i'm still here...good fight back so far...let's atleast get around 220+..we'll have a nail-biter then :)

As soon as the IPL auction started the Indians stopped taking wickets!

Bangladesh all out 242............... India lead the average bangla by a mammoth 1 run :69: :69: :69:
But honestly it could have been worse

India take 1 run lead. Is there enough time in this match to force for a win? With all the fog and bad light issues every day. Probably not?

ordinary lead for an ordinary opposition i guess.

what kind of lead will india look for? 300? 400? even more?

BD has a decent shot of looking for 20 wickets to put another one up sehfag's azz

I think India will bat till tea time tomorrow or maybe a bit after tea and look to get at least 325 but given the fog and light issues maybe even that is leaving it too late, there is delay every morning and light is offered very early especially yesterday when hardly any play took place.

BD has matched us blow for blow in this innings, great fightback. Let me know if it's time to start learning the words to Amar Sonar Bangla.

Too much romali................. why cant u wish for both ;-)

Bangladesh face a stiff task now as they have to bat last. They will have to roll India under 200 in the 2nd innings.

Seems Sehwag and Gambhir are in the mood for some serious damage.

18/0 and we're just in the third over! :O

Hope Bangla can make some inroads, or this could get quite ugly for them...

bangladesh threw this away big time, they were even scoring at 3.7 rpo? why? this was their chance to bat once and finish the game with at least a draw

well Bangladesh wud in in trouble now...if they cant restrict India below 200 they surely will lose the game and i cant see Indian batting line up failing twice against Bangladesh consecutively...right now 33 for 0 in 5.3 overs ..India will score around 400

Surely Ashraful has got to be put out to pasture for a while, I doubt there's been such a weak performing player retained in any side for so long, even allowing for the fact that he's played in a struggling side.

His average has actually dropped below 23 after today's effort, 12 50 plus scores in 98 innings is beyond shameful for a top order batsman!

Does have a very good record against India, but hard to understand what keeps him in the side.

One inns game now and i get feeling India may wrack up a match winning total in 2nd inns here.

It might be truly moral boosting that bangla didnt take a lead

They had their best chance to gain the upper hand in a decade. Don't think any more doors will be opened for them in the rest of the series.

Oh well mishra batting like sehwag...........Mishra for guvnorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I agree, must be one of the worst top order batsmen to be regularly selected for a test-playing nation, if not the worst. The number of quality international innings he has played in five years of being a name can be counted on one hand. Must be such a frustration for Bangladeshi supporters because you watch him play and he looks better than the figures suggest.

Mishra is still batting...great Bangla...forget about the drawing this now...

From Cricinfo commentary:

-If he reaches the century, Gautam Gambhir will become only the fourth man to have scored centuries in five consecutive Tests. Don Bradman holds the record with six in six.

- Also Gambit man has what something like 10 consecutive 50's in 10 matches and the record is 11 by Viv Richards ?

Gambit is having a good run here..

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS SRT in, PLEASE PLEASE GET A 100.............

No chance, we should declare with 100 more runs to ensure we have a good shot at winning the match.

they are gonna milk them further...400 on cards if they play for 35-40 more overs

Cricinfo

We're a few minutes away from the start of the post-lunch session. It's George Binoy at the keyboard for the first half hour ... India are in a pretty comfortable position and they will look to put Bangladesh in at some point today. That is if India don't get bowled out.

After Sehwag every one wants to be PC

BD still got chance if they restrict bhindia under 350 runs. it would be tough chasing that but you never know if tamim or ashraful or shakib got a 100.i would be one happy person if BD wins this test. i want them to win badly. plz ALLAH kare BD jeet jaye. im all for supporting BD. this is their chance to win it.

It's because I felt that they had a good chance in this game and they gave it away.

Why kisn';t Sehwag declaring against "Ordinary Side" with a lead close to 300.

Or he thinks his "Extra-Ordinary Bowlers" won't be able to bowl the "Ordinary Side" under 300 in 4th Innings? :13:
