If it's another turning pitch we are toast. They have good spinners and good players of spin. The way some of our batsmen played the Afghan spinners it was downright atrocious. Pray for a flat pitch or one that favors seamers, otherwise they will eat us alive
 
guys we're playing at the Oval! Pakistan never loses there.

Also the wicket is slow but decent for batting. Should be a 270+ wicket.

Toss won't be an issue: Pak wants to bat first and Bangladesh loves chasing.

If Pak scores 320 somehow our pacers should be able to bag this. Wahab's reverse swing will be key at that dry wicket.

Always enjoy playing vs Bangla bros. At least they are civilized and well mannered people unlike a certain minnow
 
Lol at people thinking we are heavy favourites for this.
Bangladesh have been playing good cricket.They are an improved side and professional too.Shakib is in good form especially.We need to bring our A game on Friday.None of the crap we displayed today because we wont get away with it against Bangladesh.

It's at Lord's, at least according to Google. Lord's is good too, pretty flat but some swing and bounce for the pacers. Bat first, score 300+ and we win
 
LOL at people talking about playing spin. Today were the best conditions for the Afghan team. We are a pace heavy attack.

These wickets are very tired and favour spin. Chasing is almost impossible yet PAK did it back 2 back!

VS BANGLA it wont be easy but back the boys to come through it.
 
I’ve backed Fakhar a lot but this is getting out of control, running out of patience.

Whoever bats first and scores around 300 should win the game. Strength of BD is batting while strength of Pakistan is bowling.
 
Fakhar isnt having a great WC so far but IMHO, he has been the best opener we've had in last 10-15 years. Shahzad although did well but never had the acceleration plus had other issues.

At this point of time, we can do nothing but to support him all the way. Despite of struggling from a long lean patch, he did got that 138 against Eng not that long ago. Same situation with Hafeez, we just dont have any replacement on the bench ready to come in and its too late for changes.

Only thing I would suggest is change in batting order. Haris @4, Sarfraz @5 and Hafeez@6. It will give much needed freedom to Professor to play those cameos and Sarfraz is also struggling to for big shots down the order. It will give him an opportunity to play in 25-35 overs and do the singles game.
 
And this is where Pakistans journey in WC 2019 comes to an end :shakib

Hope the Pak players have their luggage ready before the game

It won't be meaningless either way technically, if Eng win then Pakistan will need to thrash Bang so bad that there NRR goes above NZ.
 
well whatever happens i will still go to this match, pak came back strong in this tournament.

Maybe next time..
 
I think NZ were always more likely to defeat Eng than India were. So this wasn’t that big of a blow.

Anyways the batting positions of Haris and Hafeez need to be switched and some sense may be put in Fakhar.

If bd beat India , they will have a healthier nrr that most
They could possibly be the only team out of the two who could go through
 
Time to unleash muhammad husnain. Amir will bowl from other end. Shaheen to follow with shadab. Dropping fakhar at this stage will not be sensible. Do not distrub your openers. Hafeez should come at 6 or 7. Hope we sneak into the semi's.

So who are you dropping for Hasnain? Imad?
 
How are people saying it's a dead rubber? If they are saying with respect to Bangladesh chances, then it might be true but otherwise it's not officially.

If New Zealand wins, then we just have to win this game to get through.

If England wins and hopefully by some margin, still we will have a chance mathematically and before our game against Bangladesh we will get all our calculations done in order to qualify, we won't be out irrespective of what happens in the games before.

Also, if a miracle happens and BD beats India, then there might be a chance of them disqualifying too.


In case New Zealand beats England, we should go with the same team, but if not then we will need to improvise in order to increase our NRR significantly and won't mind losing in taking a risk for Semi-Final berth.

We just don’t believe toothless nz will beat England..it would have to be a monumental choke job for eng to lose here..just being realistic

That is what I just said, even if England wins, we can still qualify mathematically irrespective of how tough it would be.

Fakhar needs to play, he's a gun fielder and we have no replacements for him anyway.

But...given his struggles opening lately he should drop down the order. Hafeez is the perfect swap given he too is struggling in his role.

The mathematics will be similar to bowling Bangladesh out for 100 then having to chase it down in 7.3 overs.

In other words unless Eng lose to NZ, its a dead rubber.

We still don't know by what margin will England beat New Zealand, that is if they do win. You can't assume it by yourself, even though I know it would be tough.

Even if they win by 1 run, the margin will be something crazy like win by 310 runs.
So it's impossible. The only way we can qualify is hope that nz beat eng and we beat bd
 
Babar should open against Bangladesh instead of Fakhar Zaman..

Hello Everyone,

In my opinion, Fakhar Zaman would be a walking wicket against mehedi hasan in the initial overs. For this reason, I would like babar to open the innings instead of Fakhar. In this way, we would be able to tackle the threat of Mehdi and Shakib much better as compared to both left handers opening against an offspinner.

Yes this is the only way. Our NRR is too poor to change dramatically in 1 match.
 
Asif Ali should play next match if qualification is dependant on the NRR. In that case, if we are chasing perhaps Fakhar and Asif could open.

The problem is that Pakistan will have four left-handed batsmen in their top six; Imam, FZ, Haris, and Imad.

No doubt BD will open their bowling with spin and in my opinion, should not introduce pace until over 15.
 
Not sensible at all. No 3 is ideal for babar. Fakhar and imam should open. Hafeez need to come at 6 or 7.
 
Both Fakhar and Imam are passengers and burden on this team, they can get dismissed anytime playing an irresponsible shot befor Pakistan crosses 50 mark. Shamefully all of their dismissals are soft.
Toip order is a mess.
They'll either go slow or get out.


Just remove Imam he is of no good for this team. Once he enters score of 30+ he slows down the game.

Babar is too vulnerable on the new bowl and this team depends on him. If he gets out their will be a batting collapse.

Should experiment with Asif Ali or push Hafeez to open. Asif can hit better when 6 fielders in the circle.

After Afghanistan game Bangladeshwill definitely put on a spinner from one end. Fakahr and Imam are both in danger.

He used to play superbly as an opener 6-7 years back. Once Asif clicks he demoralizes the opposition with his barrage of sixes.

I think they should let WAHAB open batting or SARFRAZ. Both can slog sweep which u need in powerplay overs
 
Fakhar will suddenly find his form if this match ends up being a dead rubber (high probability it will) and cement his spot in the team for another tour. If he crashes and burns then he will most likely be dropped.
Too late in the game to make changes though. Have to stick with him
 
Need to wait for the NZ v Eng and India v Bangla result 1st. India can throw this one too.

How can you say 1 run? England can even beat them by 150 runs.

Dead rubber? I think not. Both of these two teams, even if England is through, will play for pride and that 5th spot so that fans can brag about it later on social media. There is never a dull moment when these Bangladeshi boys plays either you guys or us. Win-Lose, after game social media/tv media part is the best out of the outcome of the match :cobra --> let's not forget the entertainment we get from these kind of things LOL

If Bangladesh win, more teams will take them seriously and not unilaterally cancel tours with them.
 
This match may very well be a dead rubber. I do not see New Zealand beating England unless the conditions assist Kiwi pacers.

Both teams should still play competitive cricket and head back home on a positive note.

In my opinion, both Bangladesh and Pakistan have surpassed the expectations of their fans.

I think if you go to the NRR thread the calculations are there for you to see its literally impossible for us to qualify through NRR. We really need NZ to win to have a chance.

But one thing I find funny is how you wrote a long post a week or so ago about NZ being ovverated now your backing them to beat England.
 
Pak should win this in all honesty. If they don't, it will be a major disappointment

Lol. If I thought pak were the aus of 00s I would have expected them to win the world cup not come 5th.

Having a 67% of winning a match and then not winning is a major disappointment.

Before getting all sentimental, look up the facts.

You're the underdogs. Don't get your hopes so up that when you lose the match, you feel like what Mickey Arthur felt like after the India match.

Jeez, the attitude from some of these Bangladeshi fans. You'll think they've won 5 icc trophies by now.

Your team hasn't even won an away series against a top 5 side in your whole cricketing history let alone an icc trophy :)))

Even if Eng beats Nzl, I'll wake up at 2:30am to watch this game, IA. It'd be end of the World Cup for me, and watching a surging Pakistan team's final performance will be fun. If Pakistan wins, it'll be a great end to this World Cup campaign - perhaps the best we have ever played in a tournament without qualifying for the semis. If we lose, well ......

I would probably watch the game too even if BD gets knocked out. May the better team win.

We don’t have single batsman who can play spin. They were struggling against Afghan spinners for reasons
And Bangladeshi spinners are far better. They can choke us down like West Indies match.
 
Bangladesh are the better team on paper but I feel the game will be decided by whoever bats first.
 
As many people have pointed out, NZ have to beat Eng somehow or else this game is meaningless

Need a miracle for that to happen. Just cross your finger that eng is defeted which gives you guys a chance to semi title. IF you are really curious about by how much, there is a cricinfo article stating in details what needs to be done to go pass the NRR of NZ. Again, A MIRACLE NEEDS TO HAPPEN for that to occur (one of those 100+ lose/win type of scenerio for both match).
