Shamyl - Aggressive Rohit sharma style striker of the ball.

Shahzaib - Played back to back solid innings against India and Afghanistan in U19 ACC cup. Really knows how to pace his innings.

Riazullah - Aggressive 360 stroke player with a good technique. Made a solid 70+ today.

Azan - All good things of Shahzaib but even better.

Notable mention: Saad, a really good aggressive captain who is also an aggressive bat. Yet to see more of him.

Absolutely loving the new talent. Please keep an eye on these. We have abundance of high potential batting talent coming up. Can we keep this thread to track their performance?

Tayyab Arif has the priceless ability to play off the back foot but looks a little down on confidence.

Saad is already a better captain then Babar Azam from what I saw in these 3 games he really thinks out of the box and pay attention to very minute details , sadly he is just not good enough batter

Right on the captaincy but you are too quick to write him off. You have good insights but need to have more tolerance for young players. You literally wrote off all the bowlers before the India match. :))

He is when nothing is at stake. Losing an U19 match makes no difference, no one cares or remembers. The rationale of U19 is to find talent, results are meaningless so there is no pressure because there isn't a job to hold onto

For a youngster captaining a national side, the stakes are unquestionably high especially when they are not corrupted by PR.

Bro if you watched his field changes and the plan he gave to the bowlers you will literally think that he is more of captain of some high profile national team , he was highly calculative and creative , I have never seen a captain of U19 with such intellect when it comes to captaincy.

Arafat Minhas hasn't done much in this tournament but I think he's got the most potential out of the batting group.

He was incredible in recent U-19/A tours that Pakistan have done recently and there's a good chance he may get a proper shot in PSL too.

That's good to hear. But to compare this to the pressure Babar faced is more than a little disingenuous

Agreed. Hopefully he can take the all rounder spot in the next couple of years.

Shamyl is more talented than Azan Awais and Shahzaib Khan

Tayyab Arif in on another league.

Shahzaib Khan aiming to go big at the ICC U19 World Cup

Hailing from the city of Mansehra in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahzaib Khan will be crucial to Pakistan’s success in the ICC U19 World Cup in South Africa. Featuring in his maiden World Cup, Shahzaib will be shouldering the responsibility of opening for Pakistan. Taking inspiration from Saeed Anwar, the left-handed batter wants to serve Pakistan cricket by going big where it matters.

Shahzaib’s brothers – who were avid players of tape-ball cricket – shaped his love for the game. Watching his brothers in action motivated Shahzaib to pick up the sport too. Much like his brothers and many others in Pakistan, he too started with tape-ball cricket opening the door for his progression.

While speaking to PCB Digital, Shahzaib said, “When I started playing cricket, I was really supported by my family. My brothers were already playing, so that helped my situation as well. I believe my journey became much easier just because of how much backing I had at the time.”

For Shahzaib as well, the dream has been to represent Pakistan in all three formats in the long run. Representing Pakistan at the ICC U19 World Cup is another stepping-stone for him. Adamant on pursuing the sport professionally, he joined Junaid Khan Cricket Academy in 2018. From there, Shahzaib went on to play regional U13 tournament in the same year, followed by National U16 and National U19 tournaments in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

His success in domestic cricket earned him a call-up to Pakistan U19 for the home series against Bangladesh U19 in November 2022. In the assignment in Bangladesh in May 2023, Shahzaib hit 174 in the solitary four-day game scheduled in the series. He recounts his valiant 174 as his favourite performance yet because of the tough conditions in Bangladesh. During the same tour, he compiled a century and two half-centuries in the one-day games.

He backed his performance by scoring important runs during Sri Lanka U19’s tour to Pakistan, including a century in the four-day game. In the ACC U19 Asia Cup, Shahzaib struck two consecutive half-centuries – against India U19 and Afghanistan U19 – to help his team qualify for the semi-finals.

Reflecting on his role for the World Cup, Shahzaib explained, “We won convincingly against India U19 in the Asia Cup because we performed really well as a unit. When you are batting at the top, you sometimes struggle at the start. Building an innings thus requires patience and that’s how I play because my role is to bat deep.”

These are the same boys who lost to UAE in Asia under 19 cup Semi-final, so keep your expectation checked.

No real talent here to be honest , Shamyl has a habit of scoring ducks and no other batter seems international material , only Zeeshan can play for the national team in couple of years, all other players are just not good enough.

I agree ..there was no body who stood out. they all looked mediocre.

Then again it is good we are not hyping anybody as that hasn't done any wonders at all

Shahzaib Khan with fifty in U19 World Cup game against Afghanistan - Still looking good

Shahzaib Khan shines for Pakistan Under-19 side against Afghanistan Under-19 with a solid century. His impactful knock has helped Pakistan in posing a formidable total on board for the Afghanistan U19. He is currently at 102* off 123 deliveries.

Gone for 106 (126) - should have stayed on.

I am impressed by Riazullah the most, he is an ideal player to play in middle overs , he is good against spin and bashing medium pacers , however he struggle big time against anything above 130k , hopefully he can improve that aspect
