Best Indian Fielder of All Time

Mohammad Kaif!

His catch during the 2004 ODI in Karachi finally turned the match in India's favor.

Robin singh, who was also india's fielding coach sometime back

ashish nehra ????.......... no but in all seriousness they had an allrounder in the 90s .... left hander ... he was a very good fielder .... i think his name was robin hood

It's between Azhar and Kaif. It was almost impossible to get the ball thru point when on of the guys were placed there.

Never, he cheated on the game and the country and doesn't deserve any credit whatsoever in my opinion. Best fielder in current team by quite a margin is Suresh Raina.

Doesn't change the fact that he was the best Indian fielder.

As far as I am concern, facts should be thrown out of window when someone deceives his country/millions of supporters and CHEATS.

You are die hard Afridi fan how would you feel if god forbids Afridi cheats on Pakistan/supporters (which he never will because he is a pathan :D).

Azharrudin does not deserve to get this recognition.

Yuvraj was at one time but right now in this current team no one comes close to Raine (when he actually plays)

By the way I love your avatar it takes a very intelligent in fact a genius to come up with that idea:D

Afridi doesn't cheat. So this is a useless comparison. case closed.

:)) When did I say Afridi cheats? I actually praised him, Afridi_Fan you are really good at misreading my posts:)))

In fact the moment I mention Afridi you assume I have something bad to say about him.:))

Kaif was the best we ever had. Quicker than Yuvraj but UV's catching and stump hitting capability looked more refined.

Azhar was superb in slips and Eknath Solkar was a freakish close-in fielder. Have heard about his blinders a lot of times

I am just sleepy and you are an Indian. I think you might know why I am acting like this. Sorry.

I remember that catch ! That was heartbreaking, just urging him todrop it and was definitely the turning point.

Kaif edges it.

It has to be someone from the 80s. Thats when Indian Fielding was at its peak and one of the main reasons India won the world cup and ODI championship in Australia.

Kapil Dev, a brillaint fielder in the outfied, great in the slips and inside the ring, was quite sharp and accurate at hitting the stumps.

Azza - look no further ... He'd make it to top 5 fielders of all time list too ... In fact had read an article by Ian Chappell who placed Azhar third in his all time best fielders list ...

Md Kaif. I still remember his amazing catch which caused us the match against India.

Kaif had the best onfield presence !

That guy was so fit , he was always in the game. This stunner he pulled off at Karachi was probably what separated the two teams in the end and made India win. Only if Kaif had not done this unbelievable catch, you guys would have been talking about that as your greatest successful chase to this date

he was poor in the slip cordon, that's where Azhar was better.

And Azhar wasn't as spectacular as Kaif inside the circle and deep

Robin Singh or Ajay Jadeja the best ground fielders. Azharudhin the best catcher.

oh completely forgot about Jadeja, he was a great fielder

I think 5 best Indian fielders that I have seen and in no particular order are Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, Mohammmed Kaif, Yuvraj Singh and Robin Singh

Raina, Kohli and Rohit Sharma are also coming up

@OP-If you mean out-fielding (not just catching) then

In the current team Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli (Both are electrifying fielders with nimble feet- raina might get slight edge over kohli in hitting the stump regularly)

In the 2000's Kaif (Again somewhat decent)

In the 90's Robin Singh (just about decent)

I don't know much about before 90's

In catching our team's all time best fielder is Rahul dravid (very very safe catcher in slip)

lol @ the fielders giving a pat on the back of the bowler. All he did was bowl a pathetic wayward delivery.

I am not disagreeing with you, to be honest I don't even remember Robin Singh, I just wanted to know if you were about to quote a commentator on this issue and start a new thread.:)))

And later start whining when your threads get merched without any respect to you :))):))):)))

Apparently that bowler is David Johnson, I have never heard about him....checked on google he's played 2 Tests....looks decent

NSAVI.. do you think that very poster is notified when a thread is merged?

you seem to have a serious misconception dude. ( just like commenting on a fielder you dont even remember. there's nothing funny about it )

This is a no brainer, MS Dhoni. :p

Saw the entire video now. The inswinger to Ponting was actually good.
Seemed to have good pace. Much like today's Sreesanth.
as per cricinfo ''could never really make it big in the international arena what with the lack of penetration and his tendency to spray the ball all over being obvious shortcomings.''

On a different note, both Ponting and Sachin used to have French Beards those days. Ponting is looking very Jack Sparrow.

an Indian :sami then

Mohammad Kaif by a country mile...
Then Yuvraj in the days when he wasnt fat

From the ones I have seen and remember

(1) Mohammad Kaif
(2) Suresh Raina

Dravid is seriously underrated. He doesn't hold the most number of catches for no reason. One of the most reliable slip fielders you'll see.

Kaif will be the best, Our Indian fielders make Arjuna Ranatunga look like a marathon runner lol.

Best fielders are...

1) Yuvraj Singh (when he was slim)
2) kaif (He was like an Impala)
3) Robin Singh (Old but built like a bull and runs like a deer)
4) Sachin (The little man never drops a catch and has a terrific arm)

Azhar was by far the most talented. Sometimes lazy, but the man had ridiculous catching skills, made it look easy.
