Best TV Shows of All Time?

Really looking forward to Fargo season 3 in april, they cast Ewan Mcgregor to play the lead twin characters, the teaser trailer is so typically Fargo in it's genius underrated tone.

Yes that is Ewan Mcgregor in the teaser.

Being a massive fan of the movie, I absolutely love this show. Riveting stuff.

I'd rather watch stuff like this & Better Call Saul than the overrated GOT.

Ok thanks.

I'll try Spartacus or True Detective.

I've not watched the show you mentioned before, am watching Preacher at the moment; absolutely love it, its worth checking out KingKhan. Something different but you'd like the religious element to it as well and Ameican Gods is another one which is a bit similar in terms of how unique it is

GOT is the cola of TV shows, I like it but don't want it all the time

Has anyone seen the 100 which airs on the CW ??

I applied for a 3 day off, directly after the weekend to make it a 5 day stretch. Now right at the end of Day 5 I am done binge watching nearly all four seasons. Can someone please tell me that I've not wasted my time.......PLEASE !!!

I kinda enjoyed it for a bit then I went online and read reviews claiming all the plot holes. For the last 30 mins I've kind hit mild depression as I starting to think how gullible I truly am :(

Game of Thrones is the undisputed ATG of all TV shows. At least, that's what the numbers agree with (as well as I).

Although this is a thread about the best TV show, I'm gonna give my insight on a few very amazing TV shows that I'd recommend:

- WESTWORLD: Set in the future where you can enjoy a "theme park" filled with AI where the theme is western. A really compelling series where the episodes make more sense, the further you watch it. By the final episode, there is a feeling of completion and you really do grasp the full picture. One of the most audacious TV shows I've seen in terms of story-telling and character development.

- BLACK MIRROR: A stand-alone series where each episode is not connected to another, so are like mini-movies. A series that takes a turn for the worse with the introduction of technology and the negative associations that technology can cause. I personally enjoyed all episodes, with my favourite being White Christmas. I couldn't recommend this TV show enough - although the episodes are stand-alone, you feel every ounce of emotion as if you were watching a 10 episode show. Due to its success, Netflix took over from season 3 onwards, and I'd say that season its the most consistent. Overall though, you won't watch another TV series like this and that's a fact.

- THE OFFICE US: A comedy. But not just any comedy - THE funniest TV show period. If you enjoy dry humour and wit like I do, you'll love this. Every character is niche, and they synergise so well with each other. Michael Scott being the spearhead of the show - you really can't ask for more.

- POWER: A 50 Cent production I believe, and overall this TV show has a great storyline. A club owner/business and family man has life going well when his former high school lover reinters his life, who also manages to be a cop. You can already tell that the story gets juicy from there. I can't think of many other TV shows that puts a gangster/crime narrative thought out as well as this one.

There are a host more of TV shows I'd recommend like SHERLOCK, PEAKY BLINDERS, HOUSE OF CARDS, but I don't wanna bombard the forum with solely a huge list with a minor description of my thoughts for each of these TV shows. I tried choosing a few above with different genres but I do believe they're the best of the genre (e.g: Power > Billions, Empire, etc) but some TV shows are unique like Black Mirror where you can't really compare that to a Mr Robot, per se.

GOT is good but its not the greatest tv show, personally I found Westworld to be more intriguing,GOT storylines though are great although any tv show that crosses 5 seasons usually falters sooner or later.

I guess thats why I rate GoT so much because of its consistent seasons. S7 and S8 should be the best ones as they've shortened them so less fillers, and there'll be a lot of action.

I really like the 100, don't bother with reviews. I know it's really popular in the US and here in the U.K. the only way to watch it is Amazon Prime Video or trying to catch a CW livestream. There were some plotholes and the first season wasn't that great however it's pretty enticing and the next season is coming out next year. What did you think about the characters and overall plot?

GOT is famous and is on the top of the list, because of the scale. It has really large canvas not only in production cost, stories and characters, there are way too many, managing all of them in one show is very difficult task. I have not seen a TV show(or movie series) that is of that scale, I doubt we see that kind of scale in near future as well...

Band of Brothers?

Breaking bad and Hannibal for me.

True detective season 1 was special barring the ending and season 2 was bleeding brilliant!
The walking dead (season 1) some of the best TV viewing in human history, then came the storm, there were budget cuts- endless time spent in woodlands, going around in circles, and that my friends is how the show will end. 😎

How is hannibal and walking dead series?

The Walking Dead first few seasons are in my opinion the best TV shows ever made. Even if you don't like horror you should watch these as the show is more about how society breaks down and reacts to loss of law and order as much as it is about the walking dead themselves.

Besides The Walking Dead another show which AMC have produced is called Preacher, have you seen it? it's excellent, based on the graphic novel and stylistically is similar to Tarantino's work and something different in a good way compared to other TV shows. After Stranger Things and Vikings it's my favourite TV show at present.

I tried watching it but couldn't get past the first episode to be honest. I wanted to like it because I've heard good things, but it all looked really confused, still not really sure what it was about. I'm a huge Tarantino fan as well, but I've never had any problem getting the vibe of any of his films from more or less the first few minutes. I didn't like Vikings either, again I couldn't really get much from the first episode. Stranger Things I did like because it had the Stephen Spielberg 80's vibe.

I had similar impressions at first but the Preacher show grew on me, you should give it a go until about episode 5 in season 1 before deciding if you want to get rid of it; American Gods is another one but you might not like that because at first it gives the impression of a premise which lacks clarity but if you give them a chance you might change your mind. Yeah I loved that, can't wait for season 2 think it will be releasing around the Winter; Netflix sent me an email that they will give me another free trial, will activate it once that season comes out and The Defenders :butt

The first few seasons were amazing but it just gets repetitive. And it's not really about the loss of law and order more like the quest of survival. Obviously the choice of different personalities makes the show brilliant but as I said, it's a repetitive show, and I look at the show as a whole rather than seasons 1 & 2.

I pretty much liked the first four seasons, seasons 5 and 6 were still decent, but pretty bored with the whole thing now and just waiting for it to end. But those first seasons were the best tv I've seen, although it's obviously subjective.

For me I think Breaking Bad is the best although LOST is my all time favourite

Eastenders anyone ? :yk loved it between late 90's and mid 2000's, then just stopped watching. Other British shows I loved were The Bill and Mr Bean

Brilliant show. From the 1st episode it intrigues you. Are you upto date or a bit behind?

I'm up to date - waiting for the next episode on Monday. Luckily it comes out on Netflix but this season has been so intriguing, I got a few assumptions on what'll happen but it's just unpredictable.

Used to watch Eastenders but stopped about 7 years ago LOL back when there was Bradley hahahaha
Same with The Bill - watched that as well. It was a few of these shows that were family orientated so I'd used to watch it with my family.
Mr Bean is too funny. Used to watch the animated series too LOL.

But nowadays, I hardly watch TV and tbh watching TV shows online has taken over.

There were so many amazing characters but I've forgot most of them now, last time I tuned in was when there was that preacher who killed someone I think and hid the body? black dude can't remember the name, the Mitchel brothers were my favourite, Kat, Alphie, Dott and Den

Remember The Bill theme? that was the best on Telly with the camera shot at their feet as they walked

Am like that as well now, there are some British gems on BBC Iplayer which I check out every now and then; they have gems, quality stuff which is underrated

Lol I'll be watching it on Sunday. Yes it has been so intriguing. There are so many angles which I enjoy. There is definitely a season 5 as well!

I probably would still watch it but lost track of the storyline's and characters a long long time ago, is it still any good

There are some great storylines and then there are some bizarre ones. Current one about Max Branining has the potential to be a good one but it has progressed as I hoped it would.

Fawlty Towers was comedy gold back in the day. One for the desis in the UK was Mahabharat or The Sword of Tipu Sultan. Can't remember if it was on BBC 2 or Channel 4

Power is on its way to joining this list.

Which show are you talking about. On imdb there are two shows named power. One is a crime show and the other is crime/sci-fi type of show which has that saffer actor who was lead in district 9

Another suggestion i would like to put forward since i have noticed there are a lot of the wire, sopranos fans like me on this thread.

I haven't seen breaking bad but from what i have heard it is similar in its execution like the wire & sopranos. The show is an italian crime show called Gomorrah. I watched it last week and I have to say it is the best show I have seen. Too gritty and authentic

After the astonishing reaction to this year and last year's seasons, I have to say that

LINE OF DUTY

is miles ahead of any Police show in history.

How good is happy valley? Because I have seen it frequently mentioned on social media as one of the best british tv shows

Happy Valley is very good indeed, but the location and accents mean that really only Brits, Irish people, Australians and New Zealanders can appreciate it.

Line of Duty is the real thing. The only show that EVERY educated person in the UK across the generations has to watch live. If you think of the hype and hysteria around Game of Thrones, multiply it by ten and you have Line of Duty.

The show about a drug dealer who is also a club owner and is ten between the legit and illegal life.

Saw all seasons of GoT, BB, DareDevil and Flash already so Dexter, Prison Break, The Wire and Homeland next in the download list.

Saw Fargo first season but found it overrated.

Narcos, Supernatural, Fear the Dead Man Walking, True Detective & Sherlock got all of them downloaded already but not sure which one should i watch first because i am not going to give Fargo season 2 a chance after being disappointed by season 1.

Stop watching supernatural after season 5. Those first five seasons were so good. This show has lots of similarity to the x-files. Brilliant story as if based on graphic novel.

The original creator had made the show with 5 seasons in mind. But it got such a good response that they have been dragging the show ever since. Finest example of brilliant show being milked to death by money hungry executives.

I mentioned this here a few years, Gomorrah and Romanzo Criminale are 2 of the best tv shows I have ever seen.

Thanks. I have to check out Line of Fury, reviews seem to suggest your hype is justified.

I only discovered Line of Duty recently, it's annoying that BBC iplayer do not make it available as a box set. It's a little bit of a golden age as far as the quality of entertainment from the BBC is concerned with regards to drama's . More recently, thoroughly enjoyed Taboo staring Tom Hardy

I haven't seen Taboo - thanks for the pointer!

I thought SS-GB was brilliant too. There are many of us on the left of the Tory Party who think that the BBC is the greatest thing in the history of world culture. I certainly do.

Yeah Denise's husband, I remember that. Think you mean Mitchell brothers right? The way Phil used to bully Ian was hilarious

The Bill's was nearly as iconic as the Champions League theme. But not quite

I feel like it's because of the onternet and everyone knows that online TV shows are the way forward. And I gotta agree BBC has some spectactular TV shows. Peaky Blinders is one of them. Top notch. They'll be releasing a TV show detective series called Cuckoo's Calling (based off the book) which I wanna watch. Not to mention iPlayer has some real good documentaires too

I didn't know he said that. There will definitely be a season 5.

Speaking of 50, this is one of my favourite songs of his that tends to fall under the radar; love the narrative, lyrics, flow and awesome story telling in the video as well :))

If he's involved in the making of that show it must be good! I have also read that Starz is the TV network who aired Power and they were behind the incredible Black Sails ! you guys should check that out as well

He is definitely involved as he also stars in the show. And 21 questions is a dope track.

Never heard of Black Sails but I'll add that to my list.

Black Sails is the most authentic and edgy take on pirates, none of that jack sparrow disney rubbish and an awesome show I think Donal Cozzie is a fan as well.

Power has been out a while, I like binge watching so that's great; no longer have patience for the one episode per week :))

What's Black Sails about? Not a show I have come across.

What's Black Sails about? Not a show I have come across.

It's a historical adventure series with the most edgy and authentic take on pirates inspired by the most influential novel on pirates "Treasure Island"

Black Sails is set roughly two decades before the events of Treasure Island and during the Golden Age of Piracy. Feared Captain Flint brings on a younger crew member as they fight for the survival of New Providence island. This is the opening monologue from the first episode "In 1715 West Indies, the pirates of New Providence Island threaten maritime trade in the region. The laws of every civilized nation declare them hostis humani generis, enemies of all mankind. In response, the pirates adhere to a doctrine of their own....war against the world."

Shaz speaks the truth, BS is easily one of the best shows I've ever seen and its absolutely criminal how underrated and unknown it is.

Watching so many funny moments of the office US on youtube brings back great memories.

Shame they took it off Netflix (well, last time I checked it wasn't on there, will check again though for sure)

shaz619 Ive started to watch Lost because you said it was your favourite show. I cant believe I havent watched this until now, although I was busy when it first aired. Please tell me all the seasons are as good as season 1? I'm on episode 7 now.

I enjoyed every season, it stands the test of time and is one of the best ever for me; think there would be more hype around it if it came out now during the golden age for tv shows but I recall it being the most popular show around during its release along with prison break which I am yet to see. Who are ur favourite characters so far?

Sounds good thanks. So far I think it's Kate, she is a strong willed and very mysterious. And the chubby kid, cant recall his name.

Kate is my all time favourite TV character , I also liked Sawyer, Saeed and John Locke.

Kate was also elf girl in the hobbit movie and she was in the ant-man as well, done quiet well for herself after Lost.

I thought I recognised her from somewhere.

I need another show to watch in between. Any other recommendations?

My definitive list

1) The Sopranos
2) Breaking Bad
3) The Wire
4) Game of Thrones
5) Narcos/Deadwood/Rome/The Shield

This doesn't include mini series like Band of Brothers or Fargo

Breaking Bad - the most overrated series in existence. The AB de Villiers of TV series.

I gotta say as i'm growing older,I like light tv comedies, right now hooked to Cornered Gas ,remarkable show and so comforting seeing rural areas, very well written and none of those American Texas Ranch type stereotypes.

Give Casual it's pretty decent, it's the only American comedy I like outside Big Bang Theory and a few similar shows; any other suggestions ?

Comedies are hardly good,I realize many have different tastes but i really liked One day at a time, starts cliche and then gets better, probably a top immigrant comedy.
