Big Bash League 2025/26 - Discussion Thread [From December 14, 2025 to January 25, 2026]

On top of it the guy Phillipe is a keeper.

He 100% is worth the $200-300k bracket in PSL

Those guys are utter rubbish in this format. They keep getting picked in franchise leagues and keep failing.

They should pick Saffers like Esterhuizen, Hermann brothers, Aussies like Josh Philippe,Kiwis like Matt Boyle, Ackeem Auguste from Caribbean etc.ahead of those guys(Smith, KW)
I also sense PSL franchises are tired of giving young overseas talent a platform to just say goodbye forever for the next decade or so.

PSL wants names that are world known and not newbies who will play one season and perform in PSL and then play IPL for the rest of their careers. :inti
How did that work out with guys like Dwarshius, Akiel Hossein, Alzari Joseph etc?

Somebody in cricinfo, rightly pointed out that why pakistani players plays like **** even in the leagues. They dont even try new shots , learn new stuff or improve themselves. They will do the same things o er and over expecting magical results.

Not really.

Most of our players have done well in leagues in the past. Saim was player of the year in CPL. Even no hopers like Azam Khan have done well. Chacha even built a name for himself.

Shadab, Amir, Imad, Haris Rauf have been consistent in the past too.

bbl picked players for Instagram likes not based on abikty or even form.

In terms of quality, gap is really increasing between the pak players and others. u can take example of good t20 players( not exceptional cases) like Tilak,Markram, Rachin etc. They are much more impactful, consistent and have better power hitting range than most of the pak players .

The glorious cover drive was seen finally, which makes legend like M Waugh in awe of Babar.

That cover drive is pin point artillery stuff, text book standard

Opposition chase the score in no time

I’m sure Rizzu’s lovers here would have said the pitch is tough and Rizzy had to bat at this pace

Amount of runs being scored & chased is fast making this as a paata league . Today SydThunder do a over 100 run opening partnership !!! 144/1 in 15

Afridi getting torched again

Boy really could do with a Pakistan selection against Sri Lanka right now!

Shadab superstar not sent out to bat yet with Thunders looking for quick runs at the death

Seriously poor captaincy by Ashton Turner. The game was there for the taking for Perth Scorchers... not bowling out Cooper Connolly and saving the penultimate over for gentle medium pace Hardie were weird decisions. All in all, an entertaining match though

Heat still won.

They might have lost if Shaheen bowled his 4th over lol
Trundling, bowling at max. 136 kph. He is of no use unless he can swing the ball at 140 kph.

Doesn't have the skill or the accuracy to do well as a 135 kph bowler.

Melbourne Stars have the best bowling attack in the tournament so far. Batting also firing on all cylinders... Sam Harper has been a revelation. Funny thing is that he wouldn't even be in this position if it were not for the injury to Tom Rogers, which led to him being promoted.

I am enjoying Big Bash League.

I think it is the best T20 league in the world. Much better than overrated IPL.:inti

The KFC Big Bash League yesterday recorded its highest ever attendance for a single day.

A total of 105,767 fans attended the KFC BBL|15 matches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Optus Stadium.

Yesterday’s attendance broke a decade-long record, eclipsing the 101,327 fans who came through the gates for matches at the MCG and WACA Ground on January 2 in BBL|05.

At the MCG, a crowd of 68,124 watched a thrilling run chase as the Renegades reached 174 with one ball to spare and became the first team to raise the Melbourne Mace.

It was the highest attended match since BBL|06 and the third largest crowd in the history of the League.

The day’s second BBL|15 match saw the Perth Scorchers defeat the Adelaide Strikers by 33 runs in front of 37,643 fans.

In Sydney, 49,574 attended Day 1 of the Fifth NRMA Insurance Ashes Test, taking total attendance across the three matches to 155,341 – the second highest attended day of Australian cricket behind the record set on Boxing Day.

The landmark day follows a season of strong crowds across BBL|15, with cumulative attendance through the first 23 games the highest since BBL|07.

Alistair Dobson, Executive General Manager of Big Bash Leagues, said:

“Yesterday was a landmark day and showcases the popularity and strength of the Big Bash.

“To set a new single day attendance record of 105,767 is a proud moment for the Big Bash Leagues and we thank all those who attended or watched on an incredible day for cricket.

“The atmosphere at the MCG last night was electric and the match was an instant classic.

“KFC BBL|15 is delivering incredible performances, record run chases and a continued trend of nail-biting finishes in front of massive crowds.

“With two huge weeks ahead before a blockbuster finals series, we look forward to seeing packed venues around the country for the remainder of the summer.”

I can’t understand how this guy Kuhnemann hasn’t been called for chucking?

Australia are taking him to the T20 World Cup

Why are you even trying to argue with me on this?

Have you ever seen me doing Bhangra over Babar and Rizwan’s platinum status?

And where did I ever claim he is PSL pride because he chose PSL over IPL?
First correct youself. He never chose PSL over IPL but unsold in IPL so he has no option but to Play in the PSL.

And don't forget he is highest paid players of PSL in the entire history. Level dekh ab.
