Bollywood Corner

Only Aamir Khan deserve to be rated, otherwise other two khans are pretty overrated and over hyped. I also think Vivek Oberoi has been wrongly treated, in term of talent he is so much better than other superstars or actors.

True !!! People do not go gaga over Morgan Freeman over....say somebody like Will Smith !!!! A star is a star for a lot of reasons.......Just because they become part of main stream...does it mean they are bad actor....Big B..Hrithik...Aamir....Ajay...are as good as these actors ...and they do not become "Gutter" level becuase they are not as good as actors as these theatre actors...or because looks play a part in their stardom!!

And believe it or not...These stars is what drives the industry..everywhere...you need Cameroon to make an Avatar and expand the reach for his wife to make a hurt locker and get decent returns out of it !!!

We need Ek Tha tiger ..as well as Kahaani ....otherwise it will end up like Malayalam or Bengali film industry...where there film industry growth becomes stagnant...and there will come a time...where there are no stars...nor there is no as good a creative work it used to have... !!!!!!

Who said they are under rated....they all are highly paid actors too !!!! And today if they act in a movie...there is a minimum guarantee return !!

Amir Khan may be a good actor..but he didn have the integrity to refuse acting in rip offs..watch his Mann, it is a scene by scene rip off of an affair to remember. but this is common in copywood, and good actors dont mind participating in plagiarism.
 
He was infact defending Ashwariya and that ***** ditched him. He did nothing wrong there, the whole media wrongly supported Salman because of his star power and underworld connection.

I feel sorry that guy, he should have never been treated like that way that he never got another solo hit.

True !! Sadly...especially a lot in 80's and 90's....Bappi Da made a career out of Rip offs....now we have pritham !!! It is good these days that they are buying rights because of more reach....but seriously some western company or a lawyer should come sue pants of people like Pritham and these people....It is atrocius how they copy stuff from different parts of the world....it is not like they are not talented either...Barfi was a great original album from pritham !!!!!
 
I enjoyed Special 26; more than anything it was good to see Manoj Bajpayi in his role.

I also felt the Director did a great job in recreating the late 80s; everything from the phones to the cars to the clothes...

I just feel that many people dont appreciate their work so much.
However it could be because of the star power other actors has.
 
Watched Race 2 yesterday. Deepika is becoming worse day by day..necklines going deeper, and she is starting to look cheap. no expressions on her face, no strength in voice. such a weak personality but i wonder what many find good about her.

in one of the dialogues she said "this horse has been running for the last 30 years". didnt she have the GK to tell the director that this line doesnt make sense, the lifespan of a racehorse is very small, and here she was talking about a horse who has lost every race since 30 years. what a dumb actress.

saif ali khan is again a james bond wannabe. he can do parkour style chasing, fly a car and jump from a building and charm every woman he talks to. he is stuck with playing that irresistible charming debonair man, when he just looks like a balding uncle on steroids.

but hey, the movie still earned 100 crores, so another hit to these talentless hacks. and long may it continue.

yeah...I agree Race 2 was pathetic !!! I dont remember that 30 yrs dialogue....But why would attribute a dialogue an actresses says in a movie to judge if they are intelligent or not???

Shahrukh, Salman, Aamir..heck..paresh rawal...nana patekar all have been part of unintelligent cinema....I am not sure if Deepika is intelligent or not...coz I donno her...but I definately would not use dialogues in a movie to judge anybodys intelligent....Directors are responsible for it..even then I would not judge them either..because it is escapist cinema......and dont you think Rohit shetty does not know cars dont fly...and his movies are unrealistic..he knows...but he makes them coz he wants to make those movies and people like escapist cinema !!! So it is ridiculous to judge anybody's intellect on dialogues they utter or movies they make...it is either movies is intelligent or movie is not intelligent.....or if it is entertaining or not entertaining !!!!

Yeah...Even Saif Said he is done with these type of movies..and he does not look good anymore..his next movies are with Raj and DK (Shor in the city, 99, flavor director)..and Bullet Raja(With Tigmanshu Dhulia...Director of Paan Singh Tomar...this is close to done with shooting). He is done with looking good type of roles...even in Cocktail.... he seemed out of place at few scenes among young actresses like Diana Penty and Deepika !!!!

Deepika was only bearable thing of Race 2..she looked extremely gorgeus !!!...Anil Kapoor and Ameesha Patel were the most irritating parts....

100 crores is not a big deal anymore...it should be attributed to growing market than used as a benchmark for praising or dissing....

also watched special 26, last night. i kept looking for flaws but they did excellent work to show the life in the 1980s..there was a scene at connaught place delhi which is always busy..but they made sure that everything looked like 1980s..with autorickshaws and old model cars. akshay kumar looks refreshing when he is not doing a dumb role. anupam kher is a veteran and can easily switch between the authoritative CBI officer to the meek and scared conman. manoj bajpayee as usual has a strong screen presence but i expected more from his role..you always want to see more of manoj, such is his acting. jimmy shergill is being smart by playing small roles which catch your eye. he came with mohabbatein, all the others vanished but he has maintained his visibility by doing small but important roles.

one interesting scene was to show a fake cbi officer and a real cbi officer at a 5 star hotel. the fake one can afford expensive drinks but the honest officer struggles to choose the cheapest item on the menu.

and as usual it continued bollywoods bias of showing the uneducated politician as corrupt..which is always the case..the media likes to lampoon laloo yadav, mayawati etc because they have rustic background..but they have soft spots for corrupt but educated politicians like chidambaram.

and they made fun of a guy who stammers. when will bollywood develop the sensitivity to not use any disability for comic reasons?

but one thing in that review caught my eye " I kept looking for faults"....why would you do that?? why not just enjoy the movie with out specifically looking for faults...it is one thing if it catches your eye...but I dont think you can enjoy a movie by keep looking at faults !!! Just my opinion!!!!

biggest culprit of making jokes on disabilities is Sajid Khan....he makes racist....sexist..homophobic jokes....and yet gets a U Rated...but show some mature sex scene....Censor boards strikes with " A"(A is justified...but it should give an A to Sajid Khan as well)..pathetic state of censor board we have !!

but I again we also should learn to take jokes as jokes...than look at inner meaning towards it. and be all sensitive....South Park...Family guy they all make fun of everything....so if it is a joke...let it be a joke!!! And blame the director if you want too..not bollywood....same bollywood made Taare Zameen Par too.... Movie 43 recently had jokes on a 11 yr old girl period in hollywood.....that movie was insensitive....but hollywood is not !!!

Curropt politicians are curropt politicians...educated or not !!!! There are lot of movies I can list where an educated is the villian in bollywood...for Example Dr.Michael Dang played by Anupam Kher in Karma... !!!! I havent seen the movie..but I am guessing for them to believe that somebody fake is CBI they needed to be uneducated(just assuming)

anyway, watched bollywood movies after a long time. watched race 2 to confirm what i already think of deepika and saif..and special 26 to see what different they had to offer. the standard it so low that any movie that offers something slightly different gets race reviews..the crap movies are making it easier by lowering the bar so low that an ordinary movie starts looking great in comparison. why raise the bar when you can lower it.

it is fine if someone quotes my posts, but he should not expect a reply from me, because i ain't replying.

It takes time....We are way way way way way better than what we were in the 90's.....we cant just go and make schindler's list...first of all we do not have big enough market for niche cinema to make tonnes of money...today we do.....that is why likes Oh my god and Kahaani have made close to 100 crores....

Race 2 is not supposed to be path breaking cinema..it was an escapist cinema....like action films or comedies hollywood dishes out....that is not the standard...just like we judge hollywood with quality cinema....we should also judge bollywood by movies like GOW or Paan Singh Tomar !!! An escapist cinema is supposed to escapist cinema...and nothing more than that ...it is not supposed to be intelligent...and intelligent people are intelligent enough to know when to use their intelligence...both kinds of movies are needed for an industry to sustain !!! Each movie is different...each movie has different standards...personally if it entertains me and makes me forget my world....it is good cinema....Baand Baaja Bhaarat is good cineme.... "A wednesday "is good cinema...Django unchained is good cinema for me....and they all are independent of each other...no movie is setting a standard for the other....
 
I watched Table no. 21 couple of days back...

I was not enjoying the movie..and it was ridiculous at a few places......but the last 20 min were so touching and heart breaking that I cannot say bad things about the movie...

Paresh Rawal -- Brilliant !!

I wish such a strong and message driven movie had more engaging stuff....still a good film...it is a short movie...1 hr 40 odd minutes....

Rating: 3/5..

Ending and message : 10/5 !!

mahesh bhatt is born to a hindu father and muslim shia mother, and there are rumours that he converted to islam to marry his wife who is alia's mom. he fasts during ramadan (has said that himself) because his mother taught him, and alia fasts with him too. but bollywood islam and hinduism is different from what the rest of the world practices. Anyway God knows best.

i am a fan of alia..looked great in SOTY, and gave tremendous performance..she will be the next style icon..and many think she got a chance because she is bhatt's daughter, but she was selected from an audition of 400 girls..so she has earned her way to get the movie.
 
lol..nice sarcasm !!! I hope she does not spoil Ananya Swaminathan's character....she is playing her character in 2 states ...that role requires a matured look...Alia should stick to teenage movies which are coming in bwood unlike before..she has still a very baby face...

I cant imagine Alia to be a strong headed confident girl like Ananya and pull that off....

Looks good !!!!! Nawazudhin is a find of the decade.....he just looks so different in each role...it is hard to believe that police officer in Kahaani and Guy in Talaash and Faizal Khan in GOW I are the same person...changes body languages with ease !!! Bipasha always shines in horrors...
 
just watched Rakta Charitra part 1 and 2

Loved pure violence in the movie, the villain in part 1 was a proper badass.

I would give 9/10 for both parts

Navrocks....your home state, so maybe you could give more info, if the events were close to reality.

But, yeah after a long I loved RGV movie.
 
Yeah....I know the story completely.... RGV did not do justice to the complete story due to many political pressures.......but parts of the story he told...he did it well... and he altered the character of Suri so much...and timiline of the story was also severely altered...

It had potential to be the mother of Gangs of Wasseypur.....incredibly violent...and that much more complex characters...but midway through the research he was under so much pressure from the Paritala Ravi Supporters from Ananthapur, Former Chief minister NTR supporters...it became virtually impossible !!

RC 1 and II were definately good movies....but there was so much more story to tell ...Events were real in the movie...but he did not show many events too..it is a story covering a long time..!!!!

I was in 10th grade when Ravi was killed....State Bandh was called..and schools were closed around 1 Pm and we all went home...it was tense for couple of days !!!

I watched makhee the other night and it really was a good movie. You get attached with emotions of the makhee!
 
Yeah....Background Music helped a lot in connecting to the emotions...and also loved the physics of the Housefly..pretty real ...all achieved within a budget of 30 crores. Sudeep acted brilliantly as well..considering he would be acting with literally nothing during the shooting...
 
I have to say one random thing that Yash chopra is one of most overrated directors I have ever seen.
 
^^^^^ Actually the Word " King of romance" they use for him is over rated !!! But when he was young and he actually made movies...he did it really well...Watch Lamhe, Chaandni, Kaala Pathar, Deewar, Kabhi Kabhi, Maashal....even Darr. It is after Dil to Pagal Hai..everybody started calling him "king of romance"...and then all his brilliant works took a back seat when people talked about him....he is actually a good director who did try various genres in his hey days....

Shaitaan was very good. It is a recreation of Anurag Kashyap's 'Paanch' which was not cleared by the Censor Board in the 90s. Paanch is available on torrents. Is a bit violent but KK Menon is simply brilliant in the movie.

London Paris New York was OK. It was much better than the crap which is Son of Sardar and Khiladi movie.

Heard good reviews about "Special 26", downloaded and started watching on TV but power cut :|
 
London Paris New York was terrible , songs were good though..only thing I like in Ali zaffars acting is his accent .
