Bollywood Corner

#Akshay2000crore was trending worldwide earlier today. Apparantly Akshay Kumar has become the first Bollywood actor whose lifetime movie net collections have crossed 2000crores.
 
^^^^ Yeah I saw that. !!!! Akshay catched his best phase by making 3 to 4 movies in a year when the Khans, Hrithik and Ajay usually restrict to one..and at max Two !!!!!!!
 
Was listening to Random songs on youtube.....Just realized this!!

India being a conservative nation..and bollywood's hesitance to show intimacy I thought always stopped from showing the real emotion..and chemistry between the couple in a realistic way...(not talking about songs running around trees)

But over the years I think Manirathnam has mastered the way of conveying the emotions..the love..passion between couples with very less show of skin and use of a great AR Rahman Track .....

Yeah Akhsay cashed in big time on the low budget commercial movies when the other bigger stars thought they had become too big for smaller movies and refused to do films if they didn't get paid handsomely. Akshay was accepting those 50-80 lakhs or whatever came his way when the likes of Amir, SRK, Hrithik were demanding 4-5 crores. Eventually his hard work paid off and public accepted him as the best of the lot. He's gone downhill since then though IMO. Give me the old and funny Akshay.

By the way when you wrote "Print", it reminded me those VCR days when we were always worried about the movies prints before buying / renting the cassettes :yk

We should better use now word "Video Quality" ;-)
 
vcr days were soo kool......the cassetes were so bulky and stylish ,,,,,gavea real feel of theatre,,,,,,

May be previous commitments from her modelling days....she has been one of India's big model since 2005 it seems

There is an obsession in india about having anglo names for anything..because that makes people feel that it is better quality. So if king georges medical college is changed to chatrapati shahuji maharaj medical college they will start protesting..they also like designer postal address..like defense colony.. Whitefield..jubilee hills..marine drive..anything that sounds anglo and hence cool.. When are we going to break this monopoly and have khwaja moinuddin college and maharishi balmiki management school instead of this monopoly of st xaviers and other anglo sounding names.

For that to happen.....please file a petition to change the name India. The worst decision was to change the name of VT to CST.

There is a reason why St. Xavier is called as St. Xavier.

Oh..and you are back and with more nonsense !!!

College was started in 1869 !!!!!!! It has been there for 150 years..and is one of the biggest colleges in Mumbai...and it is a christian college...and is as Indian as any other stupid Sivaji college.....

Just coz some insecure Indian who cannot feel good about anything that he is not part of ...does not warrant for a change in name !!! It has been rated as one of India's premiere Colleges..and has ranked as India's best college in many fields apparently ....

And It has anglo name..because it was started by Germans !!!!!...not because of inferioritu complex that your superior psycho analysis skills deciphered....

And People do not feel anything anglo is cool...I studied in a christian school too..and never felt cool about it...I never knew people even felt cool about it....

Jubilee Hills , hyderabad is known because it is a rich colony...I will tell you what...Banjara Hills in hyderabad is as cool as Jubilee hills coz of the colony it is....not because of the name !!!

For once stop judging !!! And stop pawning yourself time and time again with out research.....a school started in 1869 does not have anything to do with feeling cool...
 
Many Areas in India have a anglo name because those colonies have been started by british...and normal Indians who did not feel threatened by little english did not think name change was warranted.....
 
And St Xaviers college is famous coz of the contributions to many fields...and many known people like Sunil Gavaskar..Vidya Balan...and number of educated people..jopurnalist...have come from..and it has a history !!

There are a gazillion schools in India with a english name...Just in my Small town...Guntur...

I can list...Little Flower , Luminous, Loyola...and bunch of more anglo named schools...and they have all one thing in common that they are christian schools....hence the names....and they have all history of many many years....even they are not cool...because they are just normal schools.....

May be if you can stop thinking low of all the people around the universe...it may help !!!

Missing my point as usual..absolutely no problem with anglo names of these schools and colleges which are very much indian and contributed to education..

Problem is with slave mentality..any new college or school is given an anglo name even if it is not being started by christian missionaries..a muslim or hindu owner give it some anglo name because it is cool..otherwise why will people protest when king georges medical college was changed to chattrapati shahuji maharaj college..it is nothing but slave mentality.
 
This name changing game is more of political tool in India. KGMC was renamed as Sahuji maharaj & both are equally distant from Lucknawi's. Bombay was changed to Mumbai, due to shiv sena in power. Only worthwhile name change has been of Madras. People outside Bengal, still call capital as Calcutta, no one is going to twist the toungue to call it Kolkatta.

Because it was originally King goerges Medical college...and we should let it be !!!!

Almost every new college or or new school that has started in India today is a English Medium School...correct??

So Why should an english medium school not have an english name ..if they want to????

why does christian missonaries have right over a language?????? and btw....they are lots of Schools ...Sri Krishna Veni Talent School is one of the best schools in Andhra..

And Also Grammar Public School in hyderabad too is one of the well known......Do you think Grammar public school owner has some inferioirty complex??

Stop bringing slave mentality , inferiority complex into everything....
 
I am not advocating name change..i am highlighting peoples preference for some anglo sounding name because it looks cool on their facebook profile and resumes.
 
Although I would be interested to know if there is any a Muslim/Hindu owner owned schools with names like St.Xavier, Little Flower...

Mostly Muslim/Hindu owned English medium schools have generic names than something that suggest christianity......

Now this is very seperate issue....underlined and highlighted in ur post.

Changing names of existing schools/places is the thing which I oppose.

I know a school named as St. Ravidas High School......not "Sant Ravidas" (in Hindi), it is Saint Ravidas.

I will tell you what....according to 2002 Census....out of top 20 Colleges in India....some 10 + were christian missionary colleges...and they have a lot of history about them..and have contributed a lot to the country.....and hence they have certain brand to them......

They have earned that name over hundreds of years.......

And btw....who joins schools for facebook profiles..and resumes?? And btw..dont you know think people who read the resumes dont know what colleges are the good ones....

In Hyderabad, Hyderabad Public School is the "Coolest" school...but it does not have an anglo name....!!!!

In Medical Schools in India...Manipal Medical School is the "coolest" college....but it does not have an English name either.....there are many things that become a reason for a college to get a brand name...Manipal has it for the facilities....quality....

These are nick names.....Me being from North would prefer my friend to be called Krish rather than calling him Krishnamoorthy every time. Short and Sweet.

That is what i was highlighting..i know of a school named st judes with a muslim owner and no relation to christian missionaries.

I would like the same analysis on Robert becoming Bob....William becomiong Bill.....

Sidharath became Sid for the same reason Sanjeev became Sanju....both short cut names !!!

But you had to feel insecure about that too..and label people !!!
 
On names......here is what happens when you force the name change.

Official name of Noida is "Gautam Buddha Nagar".....I challenge if any auto driver or taxi driver will take you to "Gautam Buddha Nagar" from Nizamuddin.

This name change was forced by government, and people just kept on following Noida.

Exactly....why do we want to change popular names !!!!!! Just because somebody feels insecure about stuff..we cannot keep changing names....... Name is a name...as long as it is doing what a name should do...there is no need to change names...people wont remember it....
 
There is also the other extreme..of people who want to force their language on everything.. They will call south africa as dakshini afrika or janubi africa..but you will never see a britisher calling sri lanka as Mr Lanka.

as far as I know...

South Africa is called "Dakshina Africa" in hindi...proper noun for South Africa in hindi..Telugu is Dakshina Africa...it is not something that has been translated just recently...or not something that has been enforced now......

Where as Sri Lanka is Sri Lanka in all the languages.....
 
Ok understood that somes names are shortened to give a nick name...but why some nicknames with no relation to thier name..like rancho..rocco..and why some indians write their names as paul when it is pal...and roy when it is rai.

that works for Indian names too...why are some Indian kids...called bablu...chintu...with out having any relation to their names???...do you have a problem with only nonrelated english sounding names or indian names too??

may be they are just names friends are used to..that would be normal people logic...

but may be they have some inferiority complex or something which you may have found....because people cannot even have names with out getting judged these days..

Biggest culprit of this name change is Bengal's soul, Tagore. He should be called Rabindranath Thakur not Rabindranath Tagore.

Now, say this loudly in Howrah bridge, no gurantee of safety.
 
Btw...why do people of all languages in India called "Tomato"...Tomato...

may be they are suffering too...with an identity...we should judge them as well.....Tomato is called "takkāli paṇḍu" in Telugu... I have seen zero people use it !!! I think we should take this seriously...and stop this slave mentality of using english names...

i debate with everyone and till my PP career no one has ever defeated me in a debate, you can check my debates with namak and kkwc..so i am not running afraid from you, i can easily take all your arguments apart..but my dignity matters more to me than some victory in a debate..and my dignity says dont entertain anyone who insulted you.

i was busy doing something last week..because i have to shut up a lot of people who have made fun of me..i am getting my motivation back..and one day i will show everyone what i am..winning or losing some small debate on a forum is not my motivation..so naveen..mark my words..one day you will boast among your friends that this famous sanju was once your friend whom you insulted.

I listened to priyanka chopras much hyped song with some american singer..what a sad song..instead of putting forward something indian she wanted to be a rihanna wannabe... Cant get more fake when desis try to sing english songs with american accent..where baby is prnounced as baybay..know as knouuu..my is maah.. I wonder how she felt faking that accent to fit in with americans..sad part is that they dont even care..maybe her indian fans will be excited that they got their desi beyonce/rihanna..

May be people who are not secure of themselves...might feel inferior learning new accents....but seeing Priyanka Grow as an actor..and as a stage performer..I am sure she tried to learn the american accent...because the song was for american audience.....Why would she do an Indian song when the song was catered for the American audience....dont worry the song flopped....Like her movies flops too somtimes....there is nothing sad about it ....atleast she tried .....she also said ...that they experiance may be good bad or ugly....even if it is ugly it is okay..she wanted to try..and she said it in the making video much before the song ...so only sad part is her song failed....but there is nothing sad in americans not caring....May be taking of the tinted glasses which make you see what you want to see may help...

And the poor fellow feels like he is in a foreign land. Once i met a uk student..and i said hey are u from UK..because u have that accent. His face turned red..apparently no one likes to be told they have an accent but everyone has an accent...the americans too have an american accent. Guess piggy chops was ashamed of her indian accent and put on that fake one to please the masters.

Wow....You are one unique work of art...you know that !!!!!! Know people are so insecure of their identity that they need accents to be secure of it...Piggy Chops Job was to sing...and she is working for for her Production Company which is american based company which was to sing for her american audience.....that is what she is supposed to do. For now...in that song...she was hired by an american company..she was supposed to sing for american people..and yes that american company is her boss !!! Priyanka has done incredible work in India..and she speaks like any of Indian.....
It is a good thing that she attempted to learn and work on her accent for this song......that does not mean she is ashamed of Indian accent !!! you are so insecure about that if people do ,wear, eat,dress anything else other than Indian..you only see insecurity in them..because that is what you feel !!

People who come to america stay in their cucoon and not develop any accent..and make life for themselves and americans around them hard are the idiots. And What is so great about you making an american feel like foriegner in his country..other than your stubbornness to learn?...he has many things in his life to feel home.....while you were not able to adjust to the surroundings !!

Thing is some indians (only the slave minded ones) feel honoured if white man praises them..and they want to present their best foot towards the white man...that is why they feel embarrassed when an indian girl sings an english song with her indian accent. You can deny it but fact remains fact.

Aaah ....so???anybody will feel honored if anybody praises them..that is human nature.....We are honored if Obama praises us....but the fact that you see the feeling honored as bad only when the white man praises shows your mentality than others !!!

It is people like you who see jingoistic nationalism in stupid things...people like to be appreciated !! if an Indian movie get oscars.....it is pride for the nation coz our movie fought among the best in the world.....now normal people will feel proud about it....you may feel ..why should I be happy for a white man's praise and sit in the dark corner...

I think Slave mentality is present in people who criticize others over trivial non indian things..than people who are secure of their indianness...so they do what ever they want to do....

I have seen this sucking up to white guys among chinese too..( nothing against white folks btw)..they will always find a white mans joke funny...and god..dont understand some indians celebrating christmas here in usa..but they dont celebrate eid...and they are non religious...i guess ppl copy a lot to fit in with the majority...but slave mentality cant be ruled out either.

Muslims celebrate Diwali/Holi with hindus in India....Slave mentality????? I think they do because it is fun...

May be they celebrate Christmas more because it is celebrated more in USA over eid..and where as eid involved going to mosque is not at all widely celebrated in USA!!!!! ....I dont think Indians go to church...but exchange gifts and stuff sometimes because it is fun........can you think of that way too for a change??? Equating participating in Eid to christman in USA is nuts..christmas is the biggest festival of USA...and you cannot escape it....that is if you are part of the society..may be if you are so stubborn to change and want to sit in a corner..that is a different issue
