What's new

Boy, 14, critical after being stabbed outside mosque in Birmingham

Have become numb to such incidents now, someone fell 30ft to their death in my area recently as well while being chased by a gang who were after him because he tried to or actually managed to rob a dealer. Hope the Boy recovers, Moeen Ali doesn't live too far from him; small heath is right next door to sparkhill.

The victim's uncle is claiming this was some kind of sectarian attack.

Another day, another display of backwardness by Britain, when will UK become civilized and join the developed world?

@cptrishwat and KingKhanWC I keep telling you guys, there are too many problems in your country, you guys should concentrate more on developing your country instead of slandering other countries

What's a Syed?? And I can understand his anger but why would the uncle openly say there is cctv camera footage and that they are looking for them?

On a serious note wth is going on in UK??

A Muslim who claims to be a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Considering Arabs never got anywhere near to the sub-Continent, it is astonishing how many millions of Syeds there are in Pakistan, India, Kashmir and Bangladesh!

(Muslim Arabs, though, did invade Iran)

I have both witnessed, and experienced, extremist Sunni Muslim hatred directed at Shi'a Muslims on FB, and just had to block someone today.

Lack of Muslim unity is the real cause of all the bloodshed and violence in the Muslim world.

Thanks and Yes that's weird.

Well we did have trade relation with the Arabs for several centuries.

According to Wiki;

"Muslim merchants (Malik Deenar) settled in Kerala by the 7th century AD and introduced Islam. The Cheraman Juma Masjid said to be the very first mosque in India situated in Kodungallur Taluk, in state of Kerala. According to a tradition, Cheraman Perumal, the last of the Chera kings, became Muslim and traveled to visit prophet Muhammad and this event helped the spread of Islam."

actually not.

decedents of prophets were prosecuted in Islamic empire so in order to take refuge, they escaped to Sind and then to Lukhnow.

Ok.. weird again but I guess it makes sense in terms of the number.

I hope you're being sarcastic? India is more civilised?

As for the story, sad incident but it seems to be a hate crime not some sectarian violence which is very very rare in the UK.

Where do you live? Let's do a like for like comparison if you really want to have a discussion about it. Just give the location and I'll start the thread for you.

So the uncle made up the whole ‘it was the salafis’ thing. A silly man.

Glad they’ve got the scumbag who did this.

Is "made up" a word for blatantly lying and making a video and then saying he has CCTV footage, also lets not forget these kind of videos making rounds in diff parts of the world where the final result of investigation probably will not be highlighted as much as "uncle's video" of victimization.

The poster didn't ask you to play whataboutism with the conditions of Muslims in India; rather asked you to stop having incidents in other countries chew up your life day and night.

I'd say he's actually looking out for your health: everybody knows how hot under the collar you get when China bans fasting, or Saudi Arabia forcing the veil onto women. Seriously, change.org's servers are clogged because of your endless petitions on the subject while the civility is hardly apparent closer to home.

I'm sorry if I annoyed you by responding to the poster, but when he tags me in, and asks a specific question what do you want me to do?

This is the third time he has advised me to leave awful Britain, so obviously I need to know where he himself lives so I can see which paradise I should head for if I take his advice. Does that not make sense?

That he did not. You're unnecessarily getting paranoid:

@cptrishwat and KingKhanWC I keep telling you guys, there are too many problems in your country, you guys should concentrate more on developing your country instead of slandering other countries

Now what's wrong in all of us looking to improve our surroundings and by extension, the country we reside in?

This is the reason I want your friend's location, so I can advise him about his situation at the same time he is advising mine. One good turn deserves another, so obviously I want the best for him too.

Your Indian brother is foolishly claiming India is more civilised than the UK. I've read some strange posts on here but this has to be up there.

Thank you for the reference.

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) did not have any sons, only daughters. Syeds - both Shi'a and Sunni - claim to be descended from the Prophet through his daughter Fatima and his son-in-law Ali (rda).

Sorry, but I absolutely reject the notion that millions upon millions of Syeds in the Indian sub-Continent are the descendants of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). There are more Syeds in Pakistan than in the Arab world, or so it seems, and that, in itself, is utterly ridiculous and very revealing. I recall my (Iraqi) friend being astonished when explaining to her that every second person had the name 'Syed' attached to their name in Pakistan.

Because Muslims have adopted and imbibed the concept of the caste system from centuries of contacts with Hindus, they have their own hierarchical system, whereby Syeds sit at the top, and then other 'castes' follow after them.

In any case, even if we accept the ludicrous claim that all these millions are indeed descended from the Prophet, it will not avail them in the least on the Day of Judgement, because family connections or relations cannot save an individual from his/her own actions.

Sad news and may Allah grant the youth full and complete recovery, IA.

As regards Syeds in the subcontinent well there are two points to note:
1) Allah gifted the Prophet abundance of progeny as is stated in Sura Kuthar. The Kufar made fun of the Prophet that he is without an hier after the death of his son. Allah revealed this Sura to assure him that his progeny will be abundant through the line of Hazrat Fatima and Ali. That is why the Prophet use to say of Hazrat Hasan and Hussain that they are from me and I AM FROM THEM.
2) History shows that the political rulers of Arabia viewed the family of the Prophet as a threat to their rule and therefore prosecuted them. The events of Karbala is the perfect example when even the 6 month old great grandson of the Prophet was killed and beheaded to protect the political rule of the Khalif. In this environment a lot of the family of the Prophet left Arabia and sought refuge in Iran, India and other regions. For example Imam Raza (8th Shia Imam went to Iran) or Abdullah Shan Ghazi (Saint of Karachi) was a direct descendent of Imam Hasan (Prophet's grandson). There many more such examples.

Tbh, i also don't believe all these Syeds claims that they are the descendents of Prophet Muhammad and even if they are by any chance, they are now mere humans like us. They will be judged like every other human being on the day of judgement.

I was just stressing on the fact that Arabs did have trade relations with the sub continent since that period itself.

I read an old thread a while ago about this whole Syed thing in Indian subcontinent.

If Syeds sit at the top of the caste hierarchy, then they definitely are Brahmins. Very clever people. I have seen plenty of Syeds in India and none look like Arabs. Not even close. All of them looked Indian.

Arabs might have had trade relations. Some might have spawned some babies with local Mallu women. That does not make those Arab Indian Kids Syeds.
Of all the Malayalees I know, Muslim Malayalees looked the most Indian. They look exactly like Nairs.
Only some Christians (I am assuming Syrian) looked a bit different. sandy

Jadz Arabs did invade the subcontinent Muhammad bin Qasim was an Arab and him and his army conquered Sindh and Multan part of modern day Pakistan. Agreed that the number of South Asian Sayyid claimants are dubious to say the least. But a lot of Central Asian and Iranian Sayyids did emigrate to the subcontinent during the various Muslim dynasties that ruled Indian subcontinent. A lot also came to flee persecution from the Abbasids who were persecuting Sayyids.

But the estimated 15 million Sayyids in Pak and India is defo a gross over exaggeration.

especially after lot of Sayyids mixed with local ethnicities too so after all these generations most are a mix of different groups

Don't know bro. But there are many syeds and some well off non syeds in the Malabar region where you can see this definite gene mixing involved. These are some of the very popular Syeds in Kerala.

You can find light skinned people from all groups in India including Dalits and some tribals if we cherry pick.
The above pictures look like some Brahmins from North India. Not Arabs.

I absolutely did not know that - must return to my history books!

Thank you so much for your informative post, I, for one, learned much from it. :)
