Brainless batting by Bangladesh

A world t20 IN India could not afford to have India crashed out in group stages.

Dhoni hits sixes to finish either when he has to, or when we can't lose. Not to show off at a risk to the team.

Even debutant Zulfiqar Babar could seal a match with six, but this was sad.
 
Yesterday I thought I have seen enough of brainless selfish batting..I was wrong...this was even more ridiculous...two fulltosss and shout fetch 2 easily.... going for glory gets you so unglory...

I've been a bit hard at BD because of the behaviour of their fans mostly. I must apologize for that. I wanted to do this after Indian batting. Excellent tactics and how? Fantastic bowling and good fielding as well. They deserved to win this game out and out but eventually lost to a clutch team. No shame in that. I probably feel sad for the BD fans first time ever. Your team will go places for sure. You've got quite a few gems and will be a contender for championships within 3 to 4 years if you continue your development. Good luck!
 
It wasn't fixed, it was choke end of, they went for glory shots and paid the price. The last ball should have been a run I don't know what Mustafiz was doing!

Full tosses were the downfall of Pak batsmen as well. Sowmya was out for a full toss and then Riad. Really strange that batsmen are unable to hit full tosses.
 
I feel for Bangladesh fans, they must be feeling low.

It's sport but hopefully their players learn from the silly decisions they made in the final 3 balls.
 
Stupidity of epic proportions. That batter celebrating the four like he'd already won the game. That will go down as one of the biggest red face moments in the history of sport now.

I can never take the Bangladesh cricket team seriously ever again.
 
Bumrah had the worst possible start and look how he came back. Yorker after yorker under extreme pressure. A lion heart bowler with a fielding standard of a bunny.

I didn't see that dude so happy even after the 2011 WC win. He just pulled the rabbit out of the hat. You can call him lucky and other opposition stupid but the field placements were perfect.

Two full tosses, field on the boundary, hit and run. ha ha this is probably the biggest choke I have seen in my life and I have seen quite a few. What a lucky win for us. BD outplayed us in every department yet choked it away. :127::129:
 
Even the BBC radio presenter I am listening to is totally flabbergasted on how Bangladesh lost. :(
 
The three biggest brain farts of the game:

1) Riad trying to hit a six when Mushfiq was just out
2) Rohit trying to hit a six off Mustafiz's last ball of the spell even after 14 runs in the over
3) Mushfiqur's shot when 2 runs were needed

But this is not luck.

Teams choke a lot against Dhoni. Ever wonder why? Because when he is behind he tries to give the other side a chance to choke, panic or get nervous.

Another captain would dutifully have bowled one more over of Pandya in the middle over and that over would have permanently eased the pressure on Bangladesh, whereas Ashwin, Jadeja and Bumrah did just enough to create a tough finish.

Rohit's was fine. It's in the early stages of the game, there's no reason for him to not try and maximize gains and hardly like the match is over if he gets out.
 
Three great performances of the day:
1) Dhoni's awesome stumping when Shabbir was going great
2) Ashwin's dismissal of Shakib
3) Bumrah's transformation into a lion in the last 4 overs after being a bunny for most of the match

Boy, I have never been so relieved. Had given up when Ashwin dropped shaking. Then switched my tv off after the the 2nd four by mushfiqur. But luckily my dad turned the tv on and I saw the mother of all chokes

More than brainless, I would say spineless. Couldn't handle the pressure. All they needed was one cool head at the end.
 
Just imagine the feeling BD fans would have had with a victory here after losing Taskkin and Sunny during the championship. Really feel for them.
But how stupid can you be. After a boundary he was celebrating as the match was over and ball later he goes for the glory shot. And the other guy made the same mistake. Oh man this was heartbreaking.

That celebration was Mushfiqur after hitting the 4 probably sums up the thinking. As a poster said, respect the game and get over the line before celebrating like that.

Well fought BD but this will rankle the players and fans for a long time. Hopefully they come out stronger from this experience
 
Inexperience is the only explanation for Bangladesh not able to make two runs in three balls. Luck is on India side.
 
This was more disappointing than Pakistan's loss against NZ. I thought Bangadesh was now over these minnow-like, theatrics. Even the last ball was inexplicable, there is no way a keeper should beat the non-striker in a race to the stumps like that.

More pertinently, Dhoni wasn't even celebrating when he ran the last guy out. He patiently awaited the 3rd umpire's decision.

it's quite plausible that he knew he had run him out.

But creation of Pakistan was decided by the 3rd party and Barr e Sagheer knew it.

It was known that once Angrez leaves India it will be divided into two. The movement lasted 7 odd years. Control over government was of ANGREZ.

whereas we lost East Pakistan within few months. Mujeeb had majority and the right to be on government benches. He had the right to become Prime minister of Pakistan by joining any party which stood 2nd or 3rd but we made a mess of it and did not accept mandate.


So these situations aren't comparable.

If BD had managed to close out the match they would have successfully graduated from minnow-ship. Sad that they couldn't get 2 runs off 3 balls. Not even one :facepalm:


Even South Africa hasn't done this level of choking.

And yes if you count 80's or 90's team than may be 5,6 players would have made Indian team to make it strong but current Pakistani team ? I know you would have taken only 1 player a bowler. So how it affects Indian team strength ?


Whereas Shakib, Mustafiz, Soumya, Sabbir, Mahmood ullah would all have made pakistan team :-)

That celebration was totally classless from Rahim. He was actually just mocking Pandya more than he was celebrating the win. I guess that's karma for you.
 
Has Bangladesh ever played such a close game before? I think lack of experience during crunch situations has costed them the game.

1. That shot of Mushfiq and Riad, clearly showing that when pressure is on and you feel the nerves, you wouldn't have as much power in your shots. On a normal day, Riad would have landed that full toss in to the stands

2. What was Mustafiz doing by not diving. Should have dived at least.

Inexperience in winning crunch games, may be?
 
Bangladesh still is mentally very weak. Can't score 2 runs in 3 balls !
 
What a lot of people seem to ignore is the fact that this is the way Bangladesh bat all through their innings, all their batsman love to slog and as a bowling team you just know that you will have a chance. There were so many times in their innings today when they could have calmly walked to a win but even their most experienced players were slogging every ball.
 
Definitely they are in the league of SL/ WI now, should not be compared with ZIM/ IRE/ AFG. Hopefully they start winning test matches as well.

Exactly. Mushfiq on the other hand wanted his face on T-shirts and mugs. Because going for singles when there is 2 required won't get him that.
 
Through out the Bangladesh innings despite them enjoying a slight edge over India for most of the innings, i was skeptical of their ability to actually win the game.
When only 2 runs were needed off 3 balls, I realized that they would finally win or at worst, it would be a tie.
Bangladesh proved me right and wrong at the same time. They turned out to be even poorer than i ever imagined.
 
I think it was their arrogance that coasted them the match, 'Let us hit a six and establish dominance over india' instead they fall flat on their face and now everyone's crying.
 
Trust me half of bangladesh is as much disgusted. Don't know what goes on through their minds, but we should have tried to play the ball down the ground.

However, Mushy's celebration was pathetic, you don't celebrate like that before you win

Bowling was terrible, captaincy and catching were clutch. As I indicated in another post, He just swapped Dhawan and Jadeja before Riad's dismissal expecting him to slog. And then a very good catch under pressure.
 
I seriously think that the full tosses were intentional from Pandya. any other ball and they would have taken single and there was no point in squeezing runs by bowling yorkers.
Only Full toss would have brought BD out in open and lured them to play big shots while best fielders were patrolling the borders.

Dhoni knew they would go for glory shots, they already celebrated victory on the second four.
 
Those deliveries were awful and should have been dispatched, whether it was over the ropes or at the very least, along the ground to the boundary for a four, but they really should have been put away.

BD should have won this comfortably.
 
After seeing the two pak clowns yesterday thinking it can't get any worse, jointley claiming the award for the most pathetic batting in recent times these two jokers have taken that award from them within 24hours. Well done boys the whole of Bangladesh must be so proud.

Can someone please confirm if the delivery which got Shabbir Rahman out was given as a wide?

Cricinfo says yes, but I do not remember the umpire signalling wide, nor the run awarded on the screen.

I've also had a few people from India message me saying the ball was not given as a wide. If it wasn't this could be crucial considering the amount of runs Bangladesh lost by.
 
I felt sorry for Bangladesh in general but that celebration of Rahim was pointless. As one of the posters stated above, it looked as if he just had beef with Pandya and was trying to mock him. And as they say, karma is a *****. It came back hard on Bangladesh. Never jump the gun Bangbros, never. Now you learnt it the hard way.
 
Pandya bowled such a rubbish over Even 20 could have been chased there ..but paisa bolta h
