What's new

Brilliant fifties by Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha take Pakistan to 313/5 on Day 1 of the 1st Test against South Africa

Imam looking in form, better defense, faster reactions. And clearly carrying his domestic form.

I can't believe I'm saying this but he seems to be a breathe of fresh air compared to Saim Ayub who went from Saeed Anwar to a Meme.

I'm very impressed by how quickly he plays for Pakistan. He's the only batter who adopts a modern approach despite being extremely limited otherwise.

He's very weak against deliveries that angle away from him though. But he does try to bash endlessly.
Also @RyanRyan10 Shan's been avg 39 in test for a while.

That's actually not bad considering he's basically am opener due to Abdullah vanishing in the first over 99% of the time

Also this pitch doesn't look to be doctored. It's been flat atm. Lets see what happens when spin comes on

So far excellent batting by these 2. Honestly I'm impressed with Imam and Shan both.

Shan has clearly built and looks bulkier and more active, no longer giving the malnourished vibes.

Imam on the other hand looks active and technically better.

Calling Abdullah a mental midget is , strictly speaking, not accurate.

He averages 12 against the in seaming ball even in ODIs. And his strike rotation skills are very mediocre.

He doesn't have the talent/skill in the first place.

You can tell from his body language that he is a nervous starter and he is terrified of the first few deliveries in his innings which is suicidal for an opener.

This proves the lesson that a players current form must be respected.

Beautiful 6 from Shan.

So this pitch is like the England series? Not WI?

Then SA is cooked. Their spinners aren't that great. Rabada storm is needed

Yeah agreed. Which is why I am not a fan of him being persisted as an opener across formats. Even in PSL, he plays his best coming one down. The same should occur in Tests and for ODI's, he should bat at 4.

Yeah,, good stuff from both of them
This is a lesson for our players to play county.

Imam looks heads and shoulders > both Shan and Abdullah atm.

Abdullah is Abdullah but Shan is mostly doing what he always does. But im happy cause its working atm so let him cook.

But imam is clearly techincally better.

The last red-ball game played

Abdullah was in June
Imam end of August
Shan Masood mid September

The difference is obvious in this test match

So far the pitch hasn't shown any demons. It's certainly not like the pitch we saw vs WI and seems to be better batting suited than the one we saw in England.

Feels a bit like the pitches we used to see in UAE but without a slow dead outfield.

Saim need to be picked for Abdullah. There is no point dropping him in this format.

No live streaming in India..earlier Fancode used to live stream pakistan matches in india..anyone know is there any other alternative to watch???

I love how Abdullah is sitting in the dug out in his banyan jeryeys chewing gum with a serious face as if he's viv Richards and juat scored the greatest test century of all time 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡🤡

Play first class cricket whenever you can basically

Shafique has to go though. Absolute rubbish.
Both Shan and Imam benefitted from playing county.

Ik people hate Shan but he avg 37 last year and 39 this year with 3 test centuries scored in 2024 as well. His avg might have been 40 if it wasnt for the aus series and the wi Doctored pitches series.

Imam is looking to head in the same trajectory.

A lesson Babar needs to learn.

Cricket is a funny game. Rabada bowled two good deliveries this morning. Both to Abduallah. One got him out :ROFLMAO:

Meanwhile he is bowling mostly ordinary deliveries to other batsmen

simon has 987 FC wickets

not a pitch where you can the spinner control the length

if Imam continues to jusy play the ball off the pitch, he won't last long

Can anyone tell me the logic behind selecting Two fast bowlers on this sort of pitch ? plus why would you drop Khuram for no.hopers like Shaheen and Hassan?
