Ca plus 15000 £120 deliverd fake??

I dont know why people still look at ebay to buy bats... when more reputed sellers are around... may be the greed of cheaper prices....

Ebay does have some genuine sellers though.

BTW, how do you guys discover these emoticons...lol? First it was our Bangla brothers and now you have joined the fun as well :D

i feel like getting one just to see what i get. but those are probably stock pics he copied from someone and you will probably get a CA 5000 with some 15000 stickers on it. ive heard of people drawing grains on with a pencil and then they put the scuff sheet on to make it look more real.

Those people might have been really desperate...:21:

It is possible to sell it for that price. I am basing it on say for example SS matrix in the SScricket website costs MRP rs18040 equivalent to £182, however online stockist price is £162. Uzi sports price is even lower at £139. So how is it possible to sell it cheaper than what SS quotes as a price ?. I think it has to do with bulk buying. I was disappointed to find out that buying a bat from India especially from south would cost me more than buying from the UK.

The SS website has not been updated and Matrix is no longer their top of the range bat. Its actual price is much lower but some suppliers and retailers take advantage of the website suggested price. Others do not.

Looks genuine does it not? :D

But it is a fake even though it has the CA logo stamped.

Look at the grip and the grain structure.

Also, just to ponder---- what if a seller shows you the picture of a real bat but sends you another? It is too big of a hassle overall anyway.

This is the price from CA Sports, Sialkot.

I emailed them, and below was the reponse :

Dear Mr. Haroom Mahmood

Thank you for inquiry

* Cricket Bat Plus 15000 ---------------------> PKR: 24,000/-
* Freight By EMS (Postal Service) -------> PKR: 8,800/- for UK (Transit Time 10 to 12 days)

Total amount including freight charges is PKR: 41,100/-

Kind regards
Zahid Javed

Today the PKR to GBP rate is around PKR145=£1

So my estimation on the above quotes is

CA PLUS 15000 Batting Gloves = £12.41
CA PLUS 15000 Kit Bag = £24.14
CA PLUS 15000 Pads = £20.69
CA PLUS 15000 Bats = £165.51

The carriage is applicable to four items only.

I followed this email, with a telephone call to one of the managers at CA, a gentelman called Tariq (Zahid is the owner) . I asked him if I could get the CA Plus 15000 CG 333 (Chris Gayle Edition). This retails at PKR 27000 rupees. He couldnt supply quantity on these, as the cleft of wood used is strictly limited, and this version only comes in 2.8 lbs as per Chris Gayles specs. He agreed to give me one, only one. ( I fell short of begging him, and then telling him I knew some first class players in Pakistan, and then I had to get a friend to ask someone who knew Zahid, to give me a bat) I have ordered 15 CA Plus 15000, and has agreed 22000 wholesale price.

I dont believe any of the traders on the internet selling at silly prices such as £120-£150 are selling the genuine article.

Now according to this, my bats will cost me £151.72 plus carriage approx £5 per bat, import duty/VAT at 20%. That lot comes to £188.06. Since I'm no saint, I wish to make a profit on the bat, lets say at least £50 per bat. This pushes price to £238.06.

Now, not everyone is in the market for these bats, since the price is so high. I dont believe, any retailer will order such a high quantity of the same bat, (they just wont sell). Therefore, I think the low prices quoted are just scams, and not the genuine article. I have sold 7 of the fifteen bats, and have 5 for sale. Im keeping the other three for myself (practice and back up bats) I will determine price when I finally get the bats in hand. They are due to arrive here around 17 May 2012.

I hope this puts people in the picture. This reply was for info for all who were thinking whether to buy from some of the dodgy geezers, and in no way am I asking to buy from me, as my bats will sell all day long, provided I actually get all of them, and they are not damaged and the like.

I dont know how people can buy bats online....

To me its all about the weight, balance and the feel of the bat in your hand...if it doesnt feel right in your hand, I just cannot bat with it...

"2.8 lbs as per Chris Gayles specs"

This sounds sus to me, Gayle now wants 9+ ounce lighter bat? I have personally shaken hands with Gayle, sometime ago but he still managed to crush my hand.

Im 6ft 2, around 15 stone, fit for my age (almost 40 yrs old) I guess I can squeeze your hand quite hard too, yet I struggle to bat with anything over 2.9lbs. It seems that the bigger the man is, he is expected to carry a hammer. Ive played cricket in the Birmingham League with likes of Wasim Akram, Tom Moody, Dominic Ostler and Allan Donald among others. I currently play in the Lancashire League, where we have had greats such Viv Richards, Shane Warne, Allan Border play. I guess that makes me pretty qualified in my opinion based on relayed facts. Chris Gayle is not bigger than Tom Moody, or Andrew Symonds, yet Symonds uses a 2.10 lb bat. Tom Moody, uses a 2.9 lb, this I know since I have batted quite lengthy periods with Tom. In fact Inzamam (much bigger than Gayle, in person and stature) who is a personal friend, gave me one of 10000 Plus, some years back, it was 2.8lbs.

As I have stated, I didnt come on here, to sell you cricket bats, there are plenty of people on ebay doing that. I came on here looking for info, and when I didnt find it, I went looking to the source. I relayed this info back to everyone who seemed a bit lost on the price, and scammers on ebay.

Have you ever been to any of the so called reputable sports shops (Zaidi Sports etc) I have seen them myself, placing stickers on plain bats, and passing them off as originals, this is why CA bats can be authenticated on their website.

Buying online is not bad a thing if you use the same batmaker's products, as the weight distribtuion (how it feels in your hand ) is generally the same, even if the profile of the bat changes, and if you look at CA bats, their profiles are by and largely the same. What no person can guarantee you, is how that wood will perform.
I bought Kookabura Kahuna Twins (cost me in excess of £450 )one bat pings like Batfink, the other wouldnt catch fire, if I doused it in petrol.

I hope this clarifies your "sus" opinion, once again, Im not here to sell you bats, Im not a sports shop, or an opportunist, my example was to illustrate the dodgy prices on ebay. The bats I have sold, have gone on cost, in fact for two of the bats, I will have to pay myself, as they are for my younger brother, (he's a student, and skint !!) all the others, will be sold to people I know, and I wont be making any on my friends.

Final note, the only player I know who uses close to 3lb bat is Shaihd Afridi, and we all know how well he's doing these days. Interesting fact, when he was smashing to all areas of the park, he was using a 2.9lbs bat.

Oh btw, good morning to you too !!

I didn't think he war questioning you like that, but you sound very, extremely interesting in terms of your experience and level you play would love to hear more

When willow is white, it means it has been "boned and waxed", this will not classify it as fake.

In fact, it is only white willow, from which cricket bats are made. Willow (Salix alba var. caerulea) has many various cross strains, it a very fertile tree, and will cross strain with many others. "Fake " willow, I guess would be a bat made from Kashmir willow, which is a heavier and brittle wood, than English willow.

The two tone willow bats, are usually Grade 1+++ as they are taken from the "cherry" part of the tree, hence the ping from these bats.

@ ammo,

What can I tell you, I have played competitive cricket since I was eleven, I played at county 2nd XI, unfortunatley was not good enough to go further, so I became a semi pro, and went to university. Perhaps one of the saddest things, I have felt was that I couldnt make the grade. I couldnt blame anybody, I just wasnt talented enough. That is a hard bitter pill to swallow. On the flip side, I have played with, and got to know some of the very great players of this game.

Interestingly, I played a game in in 1989, I was around 16 years old, at Denton Cricket club in Manchester, and we used to play against our family from Manchester, I played in the Birmingham team, and we were one player short. When we reached Manchester, we asked to have a player, and none of their boys wanted play from our side (competition was fierce in these games, even our mothers, and wives got involved in the taunting and banter). they said, a young West Indian player had just emerged, and was playing as the pro that year at Denton, and we could have him if we wanted. We said OK.

We asked him what can you do, and he said, I can bat, so we asked him number he wanted to bat, he said three. That was my spot, and reluctantly I gave up, and went out at four. Two amazing things happened that day, first he lived up to the name that he was about to become, and second I realised the no.4 spot better suited me. That player went on to become the greatest batsman that ever lived, Brian Charles Lara. Many years later, I wondered if he ever remembered that game or any of us, especially me, he went on to hit 78 that day, and I hit 48. When he came to play at Warwickshire, I went to see him, and sure enough he did indeed remember us, but not for the cricket, but for the curry my aunty had cooked for all of us to eat. He came over to my house, we had dinner and we met on a few occasions after that. Such a humble guy !!

@harry - very interesting, would love to hear more from you!
esp. any interesting interaction with :afridi or :wasim

You know thing with Brian Lara was that when he showed his genius, he was truly phenomenal, but when he, like anybody else, had a bad day, he looked just ordinary. If someone was to say to me that day this guy was going to be a legend, I would have said Viv Richards is a legend, this guy will do ok. However, asking me today, I can't argue with the stats, the persona, the talent, and the fact between then and now, he has probably forgotten more about cricket, than I ever learnt. They say, genius is only recognized when it has passed you by. Incidentally, we actually lost that game, so the thunder of his performance perhaps got absorbed in our loss.

@ dadvoc

Shahid is very close friend of a cousin of mine, and in 1999 Shahid's uncle and I watched the Windies and Pak match together in Bristol. Shahid's cousin played in our team for two seasons, he fancied himself as a fast bowler. He was ok. I have had dinner with Shahid at a friends place a few times, he likes kebabs a lot. Wasim, well this is a different matter, we have sat and chilled together, as great a player he is, he is even greater person. Good laugh, and he owes me around 10 DVD's. I spoke to him recently, he seems to be enjoying his time out in India.

 Wow what amazing stories you have, what an experience you would of had with all these great players, and playing at such a igh level, some people dream of what you have done...

@ ammo

Thanks dude. I truly have had a great rollercoaster ride in the game. This is all down to having a passion for the game. When I couldn't make it as a pro, I decided early on to enjoy the art of cricket, rather than delude myself. I just think I was fortunate to be in right place at the right time. Maybe that was the fine line, I tried everything to get to that level, but never really enjoy the game, when I took the pressure off, I realized all the fun I was missing out on. What I am happy about is that I have acheived all that I could at my level.

i called it fake cause it might be made of kashmiri willow and the grains would have benn drawn on it by a pencil!!

2lb 8oz's is easier to sell I suppose, but yes it isn't his spec.

No-one would want to buy a 2" longer blade bat weighing in at over 3lb.

I give up.

Trying to explain to some people on this thread is impossible.

Apparently Tendulkar uses one of the heaviest bat in the game today, do a google search.

His bats have been around 2.12 and gradually decreasing.

Can I ask why is it you think Gayle uses such a heavy bat, is it because he hits so far ?

Has anyone ever considered the pace of the balls he plays ?

I don't know anything about Gayle's bat weight but last year S.Gavasakar said that he uses 3 Grips & his bat weighs around 3lbs as far as I remember....

ur right i think cause just alot older than me cause im 12!!

I don't know how old you are, but I can hazard a guess, and I don't think you're twelve. What is left to consider is whether you are older or dare I say, younger !!! Something I haven't yet decided on.

Tendulkar uses a heavy bat, but it picks up beautifully.

Gayles bat though, is long and has a hideous pickup. I felt silly sending it to him.
