Can anyone stop imperious India from winning the World Cup?

Yes, India can.

But I'm most confident this time. Rohit as captain looks the most dominant he has ever been. Kohli has completely accepted his authority and the rest of the team were always in line.

They seem to find ways to fight back, even when they look like they're falling apart. And I think that is something that trickles down from the top, the captain.
 
Fielding is not up to the mark. And our middle order is not tested. very inch counts with the top teams.
 
India will finish no.1 in points table for sure and will face 4th placed team in Semi's which will be either Australia or Pakistan.

Think Australia can stop us as they are a different beast in knock out games.

And if we face Pakistan, then its a different equation all together with hype, pressure etc etc.

How badly I want us to face SA in the semi final knowing their choking ability but won't look like happening.

2 more wicket here and game will become interesting with long tail.
 
Unless India choke themselves, there isn't a team good enough to beat them.

All departments covered and, crucially, they can take wickets between 20-40 when the game is meandering between the big-hitting phases.
 
I think Australia and New Zealand can beat India.

If final is between Australia and India, I expect Australia to prevail.
 
If India comes 1st they will play the 4th team
Whichever team will be 4th will be a team going into the knockout stages in excellent form

As either PK/ England / Australia will have to win almost all their remaining games to come 4th

And any of those 3 could beat India if they are playing them after 4/5 wins on the trot

India will prefer to play NZ/SA in semis which will be an easy win (as both NZ/SA will not be that tested in the remaining few games)
 
They look unbeatable. Such an aggressive strong top order and a great bowling stock cause teams to collapse in the second half of their innings. Look a level above everyone else atm, will take something special to beat them.

Another thing, every 50 over World Cup since 2011 has been won by home team, ofc 2011 India, 2015 Aussies, 2019 England and now looks like 2023 India.
 
India will win this they have a solid top order

And excellent fast bowlers alongwith a very underrated yadav as a spinner

Their top order is too good on these wickets different league to the laurel and Hardy opening for us .

They are looking invincible at the moment. Their middle order is better than most with Rahul being in good form. We might get to see SKY today. If he is in good touch as well, then no one can stop India from winning this worldcup.
 
Bharat has been a top cricket nation for along time now.
We have not won a tournament in a long time but that should not be taken too seriously, sometimes freak accidents happen and for us they happened in semi finals and finals a few occasions.
 
The batting side is very top heavy. India needs to chase a big total when they are 4 wickets down under 50 or 100.

Because it's bound to happen sooner or later against good sides.

Pressure can, in the knockouts. But India has been too good to not win a single trophy the last 10 years. So we are due a win some time, can happen this time.
 
I have a feeling that South Africa will win this world cup. They looks awesome minus Bavuma. No one is expecting them to win. So no pressure on them, no chance of choking. They have a magnificent, mighty batting line up with no star in it. Good pace bowling, good spin department. Fielding is as always good. There is just one team to stop India. That is south Africa

Sharma unavailable
Bumrah unavailable

Above three are not replaceable . Each give india an edge other teams don’t have .

They have a history in world cups of starting very strong. The SA Teams of 1996 and 1999 very too good, but again they always choke. Right now they bat first well, not good in chasing. Let all games complete, you will know the weaknesses before knockouts

The thing is India won all its matches while chasing.
 
No other team would have been worried today with just about 80 to get and 5 wickets in hand. India has serious lower order problems,

2019 worldcup . The overnight rain made the pitch very damp and NZ got advantage.


2023: The home conditions and virat and rohit in very good form. The bowling is looking great. Lets wait for knock outs.
Virat will do aravind desilva of 1996 worldcup this time around. He was sub par in prior worldcups. Post comeback, his confidence and new found clamness will ensure one clutch performance in knockouts
 
South Africa and England challenge is still left. South African batters will be a good test for India and I don’t discount England even if they are out of semis race. If we win these 2 games then we should be super thrilled about it.

But with IPL and the exposure to or amount of high pressure games India play they ought to come out on top.

Well at this stage only Tenda Bavuma can stop them, The SA middle order that ability to ramshackle any bowling
 
They are bound to lose a game or two somewhere.

The question is whether its going to be in the group stage or the knockouts.

If the world cup was a league stage only they would win it hands down.

But statistically somehow has to have a bad day someday. In the past India have had those bad days at key moments where it has dislodged the whole campaign.

Before tournament and even until after the Sri Lankan run chase, you seemed very confident of "unpredictable Pakistan" lifting the title infront of 1.4B Indians and teaching the "haters" a lesson. Now even you have given up? Lost all the air within just 2 games ? Sad...:(
 
Every game either Rohit or Kohli have taken the team home, anyone looking to beat them will have to take them both out cheaply, not sure anyone can do that though.
 
It is there World Cup to win, unless they choke in the semi or finals.

They have a very good squad along with NZ.

Yes they chased in 1 game and they lost.
But the difference with the 96 and 99 teams are that there was high expectations on that SA team than this one. Those teams were loaded with stars . But look at this team. Apart from QDK and Rabada no one is famous. So there isn't high expectations from them. That's why less chance of choke under pressure. If they can chase successfully in any one game against a big team then their confidence will be mountain high
 
Take quick 3 wickets and has to be Kohli in that, game is done.

Any team can win on their day.

It can happen in one game. Indians are surely playing good cricket, like normally they do, but they can surely lose quick wickets. You are right that most likely against NZ or Aus. If Pandya is not playing then they are going to in trouble. Other guy is T20 player and can't play ODI games.
 
KO are always unpredictable. Anything can happen. For sure Ind will bein SF's but from there its always a 2 horse race as adam gilchrist used to say..
 
At the moment, it is looking very unlikely but you can never be sure in a knockout game. I don't think any team is going to stay unbeaten so it is better to lose a game in the group stage rather than in the knockouts. South Africa on any given day can produce a remarkable performance against any team and that for me looks most likely team to beat India in this World Cup.

They choked against. Netherlands

Choking isn’t about being famous or not .
Choking is handling pressure

Their captain bats like it’s a test match . He belongs to Babar academy of tuk tuk

Their strength is big tall power hitters . And exposure to ipl . Their lower order is a t20 knock off - that’s their strength and weakness .

In the india South Africa match , it will be fun to see the African chokers get mauled by the Gir lions

Their batsmen only 3 are good. Rohit kohli and sometimes kl Rahul.

Mental midgets at KO. So let's see if they can overcome it this year.

Ishan is ok.
Gill is good on flat decks but is weak vs quality spin and swing if the conditions are conducive to those types of bowling
 
I thought New Zealand would be able to topple India but it didn't happen. I don't think there is a team remaining that can beat them now.
