Can duo of Mir Hamza and Khurram Shahzad bring back the glory days of Pakistan?

The duo is dominating against Bangladesh. They were impressive even against Australia. Their strong performances further highlight the necessity for Pakistani management to reward their domestic performers. These players understand the significance of representing the national team of Pakistan.

I don't know about Glory days but it proves one thing. Your top FC performers. Specially the ones who have performed in many seasons have the most chance of performing in the international stage.

Saud is another example. He has performed well in international Cricket. Kamran Ghulam is another one who has put the hard yards in domestic for years. The probability of him performing in international cricket is high like Saud.

It's not about individuals but together as a unit. You must have 3-4 such pacers whom you can rotate and expect that they have the quality to make an impact in Test cricket. Additionally, couple of good spinners atleast is required as well.

Good, and excellent thread by @RyanRyan10 it shows how garbage the nexus is for messing up games and leaving out the likes of Ghulam and not letting mir Hamza and Khurram do their magic

Relax.

It's Bangladesh.

But it does show how much of the shaheen, Babar, Rizwan, Shan, Chacha, Shadab, Abdullah and the friendship group nexus is fraudulent.

The nexus doesn't perform and we don't have shaheen and pakistan wins? And this has happened multiple times for pakistan. Aka ct 2017, pak vs NZ game in wc 2023 and now.

The people who are claimed as saviours are the ones who lose pakistan multiple games in a row

Too early to say anything but yeah, these guys are better than Shaheen and naseem duo so far.

Team management made huge blunder by mainly relying only on Shaheen, Naseem & Haris (T20s) in last 3-4 years. They should have formed a group of minimum 7-8 fast bowlers with proper training & counselling about their workload management and fitness. It's disappointing to see pacers like Aamer Jamal making test debut at the age of 28, Khurram Shahzad @ 24, Mohammad Ali @ 30. Mir Hamza who is 32 now debuted in 2018 but is playing only his 5th test match. It hurts how Wasim Jnr & Shanawaz Dahani are being treated and how Abbas & Junaid Khan were discarded without enough chances. I know they all have some shortcomings but the way only 3 bowlers got special preference in last 4 years is poor simply poor management of resources

I have my reservations about Mir Hamza. He’s just too slow for sustained success. If we pick him sparingly, he could surprise teams because he seems quite innocuous but gets decent movement with the new ball.

Khurram though should be a mainstay - he’s been impressive in test cricket so far.

This is what I was mentioning in Shahee Sha vs Bumrah thread

1 good spell and allready PPers are making threads on Khurram & Mir Hamza as potential greats !

This is extremely ridiculous. This level of delusional overhyping is not good for the mental state of new players. May be wait for a 2-3 years , assess their performances on a consistent basis and then make threads like this !

Don't rate Mir Hamza. 130 kph left arm seamer is not going to do anything if the ball ain't swinging in Test cricket.

Khurram looks decent. Accurate, fairly skilled and a bit quicker as well.

Can plug away from one end ala Mohammad Abbas

Both of them are jobbers, lets be real

Mir is. Khurram will do fine as a workhorse in an attack with a couple of strike bowlers.

They don’t have any strike bowlers so Khurram is pretty much useless and over a period of time this will be proven as such. At best he is maybe an ok 1st change, but they don’t have a solid no.1 & no.2, roles he is attempting to take on

That's exactly my point. Khurram is a decent first change bowler. Problem is opening strike bowlers are not there.

Mir is a bit of a nothing bowler.
