Can I suggest Asif Ali as Pakistan's T20I captain?

Miandad had a decent record in Australia against the likes of Lillee and Thomson. He averaged almost 40 against a very strong bowling attack.

MoYo and Inzy did underperform in Australia but at least they both averaged in the 30s and have scored brilliant hundreds. Babar could only dream of scoring a hundred like the one MoYo did in that Melbourne Boxing Day test match.

Babar has batted on Australian wickets which have been more docile and slower than what it used to be. He had the luxury of batting on the best wickets but he could only average in the 20s. This tells you everything you need to know.

If we revisit your statement:

It would particularly stupid if you were not to retract this.
“Too young. Too classy” :ROFLMAO:

I think that is all fine but the issue is going to be what happens at the lower levels. And that's where the investment needs to go. The Foreign coaches are mostly a waste of time. I have worked with coaches and they do very little technical work, mostly it's nice words and positivety. I am not sure if our players would even understand what it means.

This is why we need foreign specialists at all levels so we can overhaul the archaic structure that’s in place.

The wickets that Babar faced last year/ this year were bouncy. The Melbourne wicket was amongst the fastest seen in Melbourne for a long time. The wicket MY got his 100 on was quits flat and the one Inzi got his 100 on was the same one where Australia chased 370 on. Miandad faced an ageing Lille in 1983/1984 and an average Australian attack in 1989 before Warne and Mcgrath. Only in 1981 can you claim that he faced a peak Lillee. My point is not to denigrate these guys. All excellent players. But Babar has a good technique which was off during the last tour.

Our desi guys will never accept a Foreign coach or let him make any decisions. Wasim Khan wasn't even Foreign and look at how he was hounded. He was good enough to be the ICC CEO but not the PCB.

You have to love the confidence. Probably thinks if Usman Khawaja can do it, so can Babar 😂😂😂

I actually doubt Babar would be good enough to play for Australia A, let alone for the Australia’s first team.
Really? So you think Babar less talented than Khawaja and the difference isn't due to pitches they were brought up on. You learn something new every day

I guess he completely overlooked the fact that Khwaja is probably twice the player Babar ever will be. In terms of game sense, courage and personality as well.

Khawaja is on another level to Babar. It isn't a competiton

And if Khawaja grew up in PK under PCB system's and low wickets with the lowest bounce in the World? Would he be "twice the player"? 😂😂😂😂

What are you trying to say? We just accept that we can’t be a team that can make big scores?? Even Ireland and Scotland have tried to play aggressive cricket and have successfully changed their method of play! How is Pakistan more handicapped than those two countries?
I am saying that you give suitable alternatives. Provide quality names who can do the bazball. Your names can only do the Zazaiball at best.

That too after insisting that the current players are good?

You don’t speak for what’s right and what’s not? You didn’t even ask for alternatives. You simply said Pakistan can’t progress.

How do you explain Scotland and Ireland improving to the point where they can compete with England or Australia with the bat on their day? How can teams with hardly any domestic structure and hardly a fraction of players available to the in comparison to Pakistan improve their white ball batting????

Dont think you know the history. Pakistan will never be a side which will score 250 in 20 overs or 400 in 50 overs. Never!

There’s no chance as long as Babar and Rizwan remain in Pakistan’s lineup.

Back when Misbah retired, people like you claimed Pakistan wouldn’t hit 250 in ODIs.

But guess what? We posted a huge 399 without Babar and Rizwan.

Fakhar hit an unbeaten 210, and Asif Ali blasted a 50 not out with a strike rate of 227, batting at number 3—all while Sarfaraz was captain.

Nowadays we are losing to zimbabwe and ireland oh ye and usa 🤣

Here's what he's trying to say: Pakistan can't progress and won't progress because I don't want it to. I just want rizwan.

I find it hilarious how Babar and rizwan are considered amongst the best batters in the world and not once have these 2 been able to cross 400 even when faced with nepal on road pitches.

Heck forget 400, against any good team, they can barely cross 250

Please don’t shoot me down.

I think it’s the only way this guy will secure a position in the team and the only way he can best utilise himself!

He is a selfless player and plays 100% for Pakistan’s win. He wasn’t too bad when he was appointed captain by IU as well.

Let’s move on from uninspiring Babar Azam and Rizwan after the World Cup!
Please don’t shoot me down.

Lol, the OP even stated to not shoot him down and just listen to him.

And frankly now that I've read the OP, I agree with Rana.

I can't tell if you're Babar shill like Ramiz, Tanvir Ahmed and etc are or if it's delusion.

You mentioned the Melbourne hundred from MoYo was on a "quite flat" wicket, however do you honestly believe Babar could dominate Warne like the way MoYo did?

MoYo hit 4 x sixes against Warne, who is undoubtedly the greatest spinner of all time. He also faced McGrath as well. These two are the top 5 test bowlers of all-time.

Babar would never be good enough to play for Australia and it's one of the most absurd takes I've ever read on PP. It's up there with "Misbah > Inzi in ODIs". You still have a chance to retract this:

A brilliant player Babar would play for Australia and it takes someone particularly stupid to think otherwise.

A guide on how to be perceived as a selfless batsman by low IQ Pakistani fans:

Make sure you don’t score any runs and you get out playing rash shots.

If you actually score runs which is your primary job as a batsman, you will be perceived as selfish.

The less you score, the more selfless you are; the more you score, the more selfish you are.

Let’s be real here, nobody's asking batsmen to throw away their wickets, but if you’re playing so slow that it costs the game, it’s hardly selfless. Scoring runs is the main job, and if you're more focused on staying at the crease than actually putting runs on the board, you’re just hurting the team.

This isn’t about being selfless; it’s about having the guts to adapt to the game situation. If you can’t score at the pace needed, then step aside and let someone who can play for the team take charge. Fans aren’t 'low IQ' for expecting our batsmen to show some intent and play winning cricket!

‘respectable’ score in a loss is still a loss. We need batsmen who can push for a win, not just pad their stats and play it safe. If current players aren’t scoring at the pace needed, try new ones until we find those with the guts to go for it.

Winning cricket needs match-winners, not players just looking good on paper with big average and slow strike rate.

High IQ= Shaheen Afridi is Pakistan’s 3rd greatest seamer after Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis 🤡

He said Imran and Wasim.

For him Shaheen > Waqar Younis.

His ranking includes

1) Wasim akram
2) Imran Kham
3) Shaheen Shah Afridi
4) Umar Gul

Meanwhile Amir and Waqar are ranked below Haris Rauf. Haris Rauf is also ranked no 5 on his list.

So wasim > Imran > Shaheen > Gul > Rauf > Every pakiatani Bowler > Waqar Younis > Amir.

Tbf the shaheen claim is less funny then the rauf claim.

Haris Rauf > Waqar Younis is hilarious 🤣. Well he didn't say that. He called WY a ball tamperer and believes rauf would have been just as deadly in 1994 via ball tampering

Thread is about ASIF ALI so you guys should talk about him. All IRRELEVANT POSTS WILL BE REMVOED.

A batsman with Asif Ali’s output is not selfless. He is a circus clown who shouldn’t be anywhere near the team.

The idea that he should be captain is the worse opinion I have come across on this forum in 13 years and I have read some absolute drivel.

But you were doing bhangra when Naqvi reappointed Babar….who then lost to USA

Who are you to decide what’s a correct opinion and what isn’t?

I didn’t take into account that Naqvi would also bring back washed up losers like Amir & Imad who would single-handedly lose the USA & India matches by bowling the worst Super Over in history & playing one of the worst T20 innings in history.

Caught lying again

Amir and Imad were brought in before Babar was reappointed. You did Bhangra when Babar was reappointed knowing Amir and Imad were already in the side.

This is your level of dishonesty. You have a very high IQ at twisting the truth. People know this very well.

Dont think you know the history. Pakistan will never be a side which will score 250 in 20 overs or 400 in 50 overs. Never!

It is a waste of time gearing up with all these sloggers. Total waste.

Pakistan’s best chance is by finding bowlers who can defends average scores. This applies to both red ball and white ball. This is our history, this is our DNA.
You are cutting the players too much slack.

Babar is a skinny fat pudgy dude who refuses to learn the art of power hitting.

All semi decent batsman have the ability to learn how to hit big or to accelerate the run rate.

These Pakistani batsmen refuse to do so and think it someone else's job.

For a decent batsman it is perfectly possible to become a better hitter.

Babar
Saud
Abdullah
Imam
Kamran

All have the ability to add +10 to their SR if they put in the hard yards.

For Babar in particular the strategy seems to be - I will bat deep and hope Fakhar, Asif, Chacha, or one of the bits and pieces scores fast.

And now you are giving another excuse and giving the bowlers all the pressure.

Aggressive cricket can be learned! If Sunil Narine can become an opener then a semi decent batsman can too! Don't let them off the hook so easily.

Sunil Narine should never be our benchmark. The guy averages 10 at a strike rate of 112 in international T20s. Sorry I dont count scores in Mickey mouse leagues.

Babar & Co cant increase their strike rate by 10. They simply cant. They do not have the skill. We dont have a Travis Head or a Buttler or a Hitman who can replace them either.

Rather than playing horrible batters like Asif Ali & Sharjeel and get 80 all out, I rather play solid players and put a decent score on the board.

Your making things up again

When did Pakistan get 80 all out with players like Sharjeel and Asif Ali in the side? Sharjeel was your best Batsman in Australia in 2017. Why do you disrespect players like this so much?

Pakistan can’t cross 165 with Rizwan and Babar in the side in T20is. We saw that in the T20i World Cup. Pakistan are always 10-20 runs short everywhere with these two in the side.

Pakistan is playing 90s cricket whereas others are trying to play proper cricket. Ireland and Scotland play cricket with more aggression than Pakistan do. Pakistan bat like Netherlands do in cricket, and they have two of their greatest batsmen in history apparently in the side.

Well Sharjeel was decent in 2017. The guy cant give up Hyderabadi biryani and has lost it completely with fitness and hand eye coordination. Not to mention he is a liability in the field.

See attached Asif Ali’s performance in the last 15 international innings. How does this help the team?

Can you also share Rizwan’s performances since Bangladesh (including champion’s cup). He’s been made captain.

To top it off, Asif Ali wasn’t part of teams that lost to Bangladesh, USA, Afghanistan and Ireland. Rizwan was.

They have the ability to strike at a higher rate but are worried about denting their strike rate. It is not as difficult as they make it out to be. Babar would rather try a cute cut shot time and time again than develop some power or risk hitting over the top. They both suffer from a Messiah complex ( Babar and Rizwan) and put too much of a price on their wicket in t20.

But let's accept your argument they don't have the ability.

Rather than criticise then you would rather focus on our middle order and bowlers? Why is it that the middle order and bowlers must play out of their skins and perform miracles to try and get us to win while these two can just take it easy?

You should give them an equal amount of criticism that you give the rest rather than letting them get away scot free.

Worse than suggesting a PK WK based on one innings of 42 in a T20 game that had no value? By now you probably guessed which gemuis suggested that.

Babar should retire from tests and t20, he's useless in them. Should only play odi.

Rizwan should retire from odi and t20. Just play tests at no 7/no 8.

But ik it won't happen because people will hide behind rizzu's keeping clause and apprantly Babar is going through a rough patch that has lasted since the age of the ottoman empire.

A washed up steve smith(odi) is playing better then bobby atm

Asif could not even bat against HK oldies and here we want him to be captain of the national side without any performance.

I am struggling to find domestic stats online. Please tell me how many times Asif Ali has opened in domestic T20 and given a stellar performance.
He never opened. Has played at 3-8 though. Here

Thanks!

How can we even think of making him an opener for Pakistan when even the domestic teams do not trust him on that batting position.
Yeah they trust guys like Haseebullah to open

Your basic understanding of the game is lacking mate.

Haseebullah is not an opener either.

Two wrongs do not make a right.

I do not have any issues experimenting on the opening position but the batter should have an IQ of higher than a 10 year old.

You clearly have an issue with selfless players representing Pakistan. You shouldn’t be upset when Pakistan lose to USA.
I want him to play for Pakistan 100%. But for that, he has to make his way into the team. He has not earned it. He is pathetic.

0.00000001% of people wish that though. Thankfully there is more sanity on this forum.

A) Rizwan has been treated like a category A Captain Outsider

B) Shaheen is the 3rd greatest pakistani pacer of all time

C) Babar Azam is superior to Saeed Anwar, Infact he's so good that even the team cannot accommodate him in the test circuit.

D) Rizwan is superior to Inglis and is the pakiatani version of Ian Healy

E) Chacha is the goat finisher of pakistan.

^^ These are some takes. Want more?

Sir jee.

a) i never said that. In my opinion none of the players deserve CAT A

b) never said that

c) he is indeed

d) for a short period chacha was pretty good. He always does well in domestic cricket so earns it whenever he gets picked. He was treated very badly at T20 WC though where tail enders were sent above him. His haters succeeded in their agenda. But for me chacha story is done for now. It is now all about Noman Taya.

A) You 100% said that. 100%.

B) Ik, mamoon said it. But you said sanity on this forumn, these are the types of posters you support, thr ones who advocate for Babar and rizwan.

C) Babar > Saeed Anwar is like saying Labu is > Travis Head. Actually scratch that, it's more like saying Imam ul Haq is > Ricky Pointing.

D) Maaf Karo, I've been observing chacha since his debut in International. He and rizwan were the 2 major additions made towards the t20 side thanks to Misbah and the rest is history, The no 1 rank t20 side collapsed because of these 2. To top it off chacha is the only player who has Botched 3 super overs in history.

All those who are claiming the target was too high against USA, oh maaf kar, He got out on a full toss and scored 4 of 3 🤣🤣.

Plus let's not forget his iconic 2 of 6 against Zimbabwe.

He's one of the most rubbish players I have ever seen and I lost respect for every single poster who actually supported this clown.

Babar and rizwan supporters I can understand. Pakiatani fans like to overglorify mediocrity. But chacha is unforgivable si ce he's the bare bones version of crap.

And yes he's worse then asif ali, 100%. And that's not saying much since asif ali himself is pretty bad.

Mamoon did this yesterday in regards to amir and imad, now @gazza619 is claiming he never said rizwan has been treated like an outsider? Oh bhai.

People convientally forgetting what they said despite knowing they said it, is tue bare bones definition of dishonesty.

Just say I forgot I said it. Why are you saying I never said it 🤣🤣.

Mamoon did this yesterday in regards to amir and imad, now @gazza619 is claiming he never said rizwan has been treated like an outsider? Oh bhai.
All I said was that Riz was ignored for too long in the captaincy race

You guys are simply wasting your time and mental health on posters that have no knowledge of cricket and their personalities are rooted in dishonest opinions. I have stopped responding to such posters.

mominsaigol should take a hard look at himself. His only existence on this forum is to lap up every Rana post and like it. Whether he likes this or not but that is truly the perception of him. He can continue living like this on this forum if he wants to. Same goes for topspin. Three stooges that exist only to like each other's posts. That's literally their only contribution to this forum. Rana mentions that Asif Ali didn't do too badly as IU captain in the PSL. Asif Ali's captaincy record was 3 played 3 lost. and mominsaigol responds by saying that now that I've read the OP, I agree with what he says. So he agrees that the guy who has a 100% losing record as captain didn't do too badly as captain. Shows you the level of their blindness. Maybe they are all just one person with three different ids.

This Rana dude has 0 answers to anyone who factually answers him. You can show him Asif Ali's pathetic record and his response would be what did Rizwan do? You can tell him how bad Imad was against India and his response would be what did Rizwan do? Amir bowled the worst Super Over in Pakistan history against USA but his response would be what did Rizwan do? Never ever answers the question but deflects. It's like one party in Pakistan says to the other "you are corrupt". The other party instead of defending itself with reason, says "but what about the corruption you did?". And in the end, when nothing works, responds to name calling which I'm sure he'll do again here which will only validate my point.
So what did Rizwan do?

Hoo haa all you want. The facts are yooo Esss Ayyyy
