Can Pakistan's 89 against Australia in 2023 provide the same impetus to win the series as it did to India when they were bowled out for 36?

What a thread.

How are we going to do it? With Babar Azam not wanting to cement his legacy as a modern great at the age of 29 and 50 Tests under his belt? We don’t have the cojones for storybook turn arounds in our nation.

Saim Ayub to be drafted in for MCG like Gill did after the 36AO debacle? And Rizwan in for Sarfaraz like Pant got in place of Saha?

The stars are aligning!
Agree Rizwan is key here. He can attack like pant. Sarfaraz is like Saha and he got replaced by pant after defeat.

We want to play aggressive cricket….

Yet you picked one guy in your squad that has the ability to bat at a strike rate above 110 in ODI cricket…bunch of liars and scammers are the PCB think tank! This nonsense has been going on since 2019!

No , Pakistan is medicore Test Team so they can't compete with Australia at anywhere in the world let alone in Australia .

Truthful answer no. The gulf in the 2 teams is so huge that even if aus plays average they will still win. A 3-0 comprehensive aus win loading..

Need few more coincidences

1) Babar has to take some time off and flee to Pakistan
2) Multiple injuries have to happen.
3) T20 players suddenly fill in and play like proper batsmen.
4) Replacement captain lead the side to two improbable wins and one improbable draw.

That was probably the biggest come back by visiting team in Aus with Aus players in peak with ATG bowling attack.

Having said that, Pakistan should forget about last test and focus on winning the next one.

Better teams have gone to Aus and lost badly so no need to overthink, just give your best. Each match can be won no matter what happened in the previous match.

It will only get better from here on. Melbourne will be slower than Perth. Pakistan should look to take the match to 5th day and last session there.
Sydeny will be almost level playing field. Expecting Shafique, Abdullah, Imam, Babar to score big there and draw the match and end Australia's streak against Pakistan.

That would a great result for Pakistan.

Like your optimism bro. Wish the pak captain was as optimistic as you. A 3-0 utterly dominating win for aus

Actually Indian bowling did very well in the next innings of the series and bowled Aus out for 195.
Then turning point was Ajinkya Rahane's knock. He lead from the front and scored 122 in extremely tough conditions. The conditons when he was batting were so tough that I would expect Australia to AO most batting line ups under 150. He had some luck but he battled those conditons and that turned the tide.
After that although Australia still dominated India in most part of the games but India still kept delivering knock out punches out of nowhere.

Need Shan to play an inspiring knock like that.

36 all out was due to vagary of pink ball cricket. If you bowl at certain time of the evening you get prodigious purchase. India ended up playing during that phase. Let us not forget. India bowled Australia out under 200. India took a first innings lead of 54 in that Test. But come the second innings INdia just got toasted under lights with pink ball. Not the first time this has happened in pink ball Test.

Under the lights? Not sure if you were watching the match live. India was 9-1 at stumps and 25-8 in the morning. They didn't collapse under lights.

36 AO was one freak session with pink ball.

Before that India was ahead of Aus the same test match.

India had scored 244 and reduced Aus to 79-5 and 139-8.

Pakistan never looked that dominant.

Lol at the comparisons bw India and Pakistan. Let's remain delusional. India has been number one in the test rankings for the last 8 years for a genuine reason, that 36 all out was an anomaly. India has far superior batters, pacers, spinners and is a much fitter, determined, hungry team with a better captain than Pakistan.

Pakistan in comparison has consistently been right at the bottom of the rankings in test cricket.

Why would you play pink ball test in the morning. Yea it is in the afternoon. It was a freak collapse that happened. INdia but for several drops Australia would have been rolled over under 100 runs. INdia had ascendancy in that match until that collapse. That is not the same here. At no point Pakistan was in the game.

You mentioned India crumbled under lights, that was not the case. They collapsed within first 15 overs of the day.

Not at all. One thing I will never argue against is Pakistan to forever remain absolute miserable in Test matches in Australia. They could win or one could hope for them to perform in all other places, but in Australia it's always the same rubbish embarrassing display in cricket. India actually competes very well in longer format, its one thing that they choke in absolute ultimate games but a very good side which competes well in longer format.

Pakistan can at least be competitive. If they,

Replace Salman Aga with Abrar Ahmed.
Replace Sarfraz with Rizwan. Sarfraz is a poor batsman and cannot play pace bowling at all. Definitely not in Aussie pitches.
Bring in a 140k+ bowler. Trundlers are not going to scare Aussie batsmen.

The rest of the batting is alright. Many are playing there for the first time. They can be more competitive in the 2nd Test.

Exactly . The Saffers had a much better bowling attack in Jansen, Rabada, Nortje and they were pulverised by Australia when they toured last year

PAK attack is a nothing attack in comparison.

Hats cause their batting sucks in true bouncy wickets even though their countries prepare such wickets.

What's hard to understand for people? Australia have the luxury of keeping their bowlers fully fit and ready to bowl with full intensity cause their batsmen always piles on runs and fatigue the opponents.

I truly believe this can provide us impetus and spur us on to beat the follow-on cut-off score next Test :shan

Pakistan team does not have the mental strength to succeed in Australia. This is honest truth.

Are they here to win or are they here to bat 100 overs like shan masood said ?

Because India was here to win! You wouldn't see India being all smiles with Australia throughout the game, whilst being hammered.

Stand up, have some dignity, this an ongoing series, stop clapping warner after every few boundaries, stop sucking up to khawaja after every lucky chance he gets. Look them in the eyes and let them know you are here to win a game of test cricket.

Pakistan does not have the bowling. You can't win in Australia with all your bowlers consistently hovering at 124-130 km/hr. Even implementing Bharat Aruns ruthless off middle stump line with a packed leg side field can be neutralized at this pace.

Ashraf needs to make way for Wasim Jr. Hasan Ali needs to come in for Shaheen. Need to get Abrar or Nauman in, we might need to replace a batsman for an extra bowler.

Pace bowler ruled out. Injury concern after 1st test. Isn't India's tour being duplicated again this time by their neighbours.
May be Pak will come back and win just like India , after second coincidence.

The simple answer will be a big NO in this situation when your players are getting injured. Pakistan players are weak Mentally and physically.

Australia is miles ahead of us in Test cricket. Our players don't know how to play Test cricket. We don't have any genuine Test player in our team.
