What will Congress achieve by having blank copy of constitution?

Seems like one of many phony allegations/accusations from BJP.

Priyanka Gandhi takes oath as Lok Sabha MP; all Gandhis in Parliament now

Priyanka Gandhi won the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 4,10,931 votes in the recently concluded round of bypolls, which took place alongside Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections 2024.

The Wayanad Lok Sabha seat was vacated by Priyanka Gandhi's brother, Rahul Gandhi, who had won from there in the Lok Sabha elections this year but had also secured the family bastion Rae Bareli constituency. Rahul Gandhi's decision to resign from the Wayanad seat and retain the Rae Bareli constituency after winning the two seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in April necessitated the Wayanad bypoll.

Wayanad, a Congress stronghold, witnessed a triangular contest among Priyanka Gandhi, BJP's Navya Haridas, and Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Sathyan Mokeri.

Priyanka Gandhi's electoral debut

Priyanka Gandhi contested the Wayanad seat as a candidate of the United Democratic Front (UDF).

Congress leader Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan won with 5,86,788 votes the bypoll in Nanded Lok Sabha seat, which fell vacant following the death of the sitting party MP, Vasantrao Balwantrao Chavan.

The Wayanad win marks the electoral debut of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who will now be sitting in Lok Sabha along with her brother Rahul Gandhi, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the House. Their mother, Sonia Gandhi, is a Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan.

Due to a low voter turnout, Priyanka Gandhi received 6,22,338 votes, less than Rahu Gandhi's tally of 647,445 votes during the April Lok Sabha election in the constituency. However, her margin of 410,931 votes surpassed his lead of 364,422 votes, making her maiden victory extra special.

Small small happiness as they say !:ROFLMAO:

Parliament back in chaos as BJP says Rahul, global news network together in ‘derailing’ India

After a hiatus of two days, the Winter Session of Parliament plunged into chaos again Thursday, this time due to the ruling BJP targeting Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Congress, accusing them of being part of a plan to “derail” India’s economy and “disrupt” its democracy.

Senior BJP MP Nishikant Dubey raised the matter in the Lok Sabha, alleging that a “dangerous triangle”, comprising US billionaire investor George Soros, global investigative news network OCCRP (Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project) and the Congress plus its leader Rahul Gandhi, were trying “to derail India’s success story” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In the Rajya Sabha, MP Sudhanshu Trivedi brought up the issue, with the BJP leaders saying that the Congress had stalled Parliament on the basis of various reports published by OCCRP, including on the Pegasus spying row, the efficacy of Covid-19 vaccines developed in India, and the Hindenburg report against the Gautam Adani group. Dubey said many of these media reports coincided with Parliament Sessions in India.

Rahul Gandhi stirs up storm with 'fighting Indian state' remark, faces BJP fire

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi stirred a hornet's nest on Wednesday after claiming that the Congress was not only fighting the BJP and its ideological mentor RSS, but the "Indian state" as well. Addressing party workers after the inauguration of the new Congress headquarters, Gandhi went all guns blazing in attacking the BJP and RSS, accusing them of capturing all institutions of the country.

"Do not think that we are fighting a fair fight. There is no fairness in this. If you believe that we are fighting a political organisation called the BJP or RSS, you have not understood what is going on. The BJP and the RSS have captured every single institution of our country. We are now fighting the BJP, the RSS and the Indian State itself," Gandhi asserted.

Gandhi also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he wanted to "crush the voice" of the country by gagging the Dalits, minorities, backward castes and tribals.

The BJP was quick to pounce upon the Congress MP's remarks, saying that the "ugly truth" of the party "stands exposed by their own leader".

Firing the first salvo, Union Minister and BJP chief JP Nadda said Gandhi and his "ecosystem" have close links with "urban naxals" and the "Deep State" who want to "defame, demean and discredit" India.

"Hidden no more, Congress's ugly truth now stands exposed by their own leader. I 'compliment' Rahul Gandhi for saying clearly what the nation knows - that he is fighting the Indian state! His repeated actions have also strengthened this belief. Everything he has done or said has been in the direction of breaking India and dividing our society," Nadda tweeted.

The BJP has repeatedly used the term 'urban naxals' to attack anti-establishment protesters.

BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were also among those who attacked Gandhi.

"Rahul Gandhi has now declared open war against the Indian State itself. This is straight out of George Soros's playbook," Malviya tweeted, referring to the billionaire American-Hungarian investor. The BJP has on several occasions accused the Congress of colluding with Soros to destabilise the government.

SACHIN PILOT DEFENDS RAHUL GANDHI

However, Gandhi's remarks were defended by senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot, who stressed that there was a "decline in the reliability" of organisations such as the Election Commission.

"You all know that the Centre is working in a strategic manner to weaken the constitutional organisations. We want transparency and accountability should be fixed. We should get answers to questions that we ask inside and outside Parliament. All the constitutional organisations will have to be unbiased, transparent and credible," Pilot said.

Rahul Gandhi Gets Relief From Supreme Court, Defamation Proceedings Stayed

The Supreme Court has paused defamation proceedings against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in a Jharkhand court over remarks against Union Minister Amit Shah. The case dates back to 2018 when Mr Gandhi had used allegedly derogatory remarks against Mr Shah, the then BJP chief.

A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta also issued notices to the Jharkhand government and BJP worker Naveen Jha, the complainant. They have been asked to submit their replies within four weeks.

Senior Advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Mr Gandhi, cited past judgments that said only the aggrieved person can file a criminal defamation complaint. He argued that the complaint cannot be filed by a proxy third party.

The matter will be taken up against six weeks.

The top court passed the interim order while hearing Mr Gandhi's petition to quash the defamation case being heard by an MP/MLA court in Jharkhand's Chaibasa.

The lower court had issued a non-bailable warrant against the Congress leader in February last year. Mr Gandhi had sought the Jharkhand High Court to quash the case back then, but the court refused to interfere.

The lower court had also asked Mr Gandhi to appear before it physically last year. His request for an exemption was turned down.

"Drink Yamuna Water, Will Meet You In Hospital": Rahul Gandhi Jabs Arvind Kejriwal

In a no-holds-bar attack on Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pointed to the previous promise of the former Delhi Chief Minister to clean the Yamuna River, challenging him to take a dip in the river.

Taking a jibe at Mr Kejriwal, Mr Gandhi asked him to take a sip of Yamuna River and said he would meet him in hospital later.

"Arvind Kejriwal said that he will bring a new political system, will finish corruption...He also promised that he would clean the Yamuna water within 5 years, and would take a dip in it but it is still dirty...I would ask him to drink it, we will meet in the hospital after that," Mr Gandhi said while addressing a public meeting in Hauz Qazi Chowk.

Criticising the "core team" of 9 people of AAP, including Manish Sisodia, Atishi, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chaddha, Satyendra Jain and others, he likened them to being similar to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

While holding a pamphlet of AAP with the faces of its leaders, he added, "These 9 people are Kejriwal's core team, I am reading the names, Kejriwal, his partner Sisodia, Atishi, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, Satendra Jain, Avad Ojha, how many of these people are in the 90%? No one from the Dalit OBC, or Muslim community is there...they make their team and when there is a riot anywhere, they disappear."

"There is no difference between Kejriwal and Modi, Modi speaks openly, Kejriwal remains silent, and does not come when needed," he added.

Saying that the election fight is actually in reality between just two ideologies, one of "unity" and one of "hatred."

"The fight is between two parties, the two parties have two ideologies, one is BJP RSS which is the ideology of hatred and the other is Congress which is the ideology of unity. Narendra Modi is the PM today but the day he will step down, no one will remember him, there were two people in this country, (Mahatma) Gandhi and Godse, no one remembers Godse," he added.

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled to take place on February 5, with the vote counting on February 8.

65% want INDIA bloc to continue, Rahul Gandhi still favourite to lead it: MOTN poll

The India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation (MOTN) poll was conducted between January 2 and February 9, 2025, surveying 1,25,123 voters across all Lok Sabha segments. The survey included fresh interviews as well as long-term tracking data.

When asked about the most suitable leader to head the INDIA bloc, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi emerged as the frontrunner, securing 24 per cent support. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee followed with 14 per cent backing.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and Samajwadi Party boss Akhilesh Yadav trailed behind with 9 per cent and 6 per cent, respectively.

IF LOK SABHA POLLS ARE HELD TODAY

The same survey had also predicted that the Congress-led INDIA bloc, which won 232 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, would see its tally drop to 188 if Lok Sabha elections were held today. In contrast, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is expected to make substantial gains, potentially winning 343 seats. The BJP may secure a simple majority on its own by winning 281 Lok Sabha seats, the opinion poll had predicted.

The NDA, which secured 292 seats — just surpassing the majority threshold of 272 — is expected to see its vote share rise by three percentage points to 47 per cent. Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc is projected to gain a mere 1 per cent increase, reflecting its declining political momentum in Maharashtra, Haryana and Delhi Assembly elections, exacerbated by internal discord.

MOTN is meaningless as next general election is almost 5 years away. The entire dynamics of Indian politics may look different then. There may not be any INDIA block at that time and parties like AAP, TMC may be in NDA alliance with BJP. Also, Modi may no longer be PM candidate in 2029.

Didnt see many posts here on Delhi elections. 0 seats for Pappu Gandhis Congress. Big fat zero. And 0 seats in 3 consecutive elections LOL ! And Pappu for PM , this comedy gold made my day ! :hasan2
