Chandrayan 3 landed successfully : A Giant Leap for India in Space

What a moment of pride for the Indian sub continent.

India's has arrived on the international scene, officially the 1st country to land in the south pole of the Moon and the 4th country to have a rover on the moon..

It was so tense watching this, so proud and happy to have witnessed this moment...

Good for them, a very boostful moment for India and the people that are working in this field.

ISRO scientists are on another level. If ISRO had the budget of Nasa, what they would achieve would be incredible...

Now eagerly waiting on the ISRO mission to the Sun and the collaboration for the second moon mission with Japan in the future..

Good business for the pubs in that area tonight (North West Bangalore).

Well done.

I remember watching Chandrayaan-2 fail to land on the moon. Good to see India succeed finally. ISRO is the pride of India.

This is literary the first time I’m smiling from my heart since my father’s demise in 2021.

Congrats to all the scientists in ISRO!

Seems India's techniical issues continue :)

Good for them and congratulations to them, hard work pays off whether going to Moon or buying islands. Priorities are different and it shows. Wonder where is that duffer Fawad.
He is insignificant. This is a win for all humanity, and if ISRO is standing talk today, then it’s because it stands on the shoulders of giants.

Just heard from my mum, and evidently my dad had given the staff and line workers a day off, and arranged a viewing party for them. After the soft landing he handed out sweets and a bonus. Lolz I am glad it landed soft, heavens know what he would have done had it not worked out well, given that he is such a modi bhakt…

I find it more entertaining to watch bhakts crashing into each other trying to spin Modi into this.

Stay safe and wear a helmet :)
Every politician tries to take credit for achievements of the country.

I used to see countless ads on Doordarshan when Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha rao eic used to come on tv and parrot the achievements of ISRO and DRDO.

'India continues to make history': UAE President, VP post congratulations after Chandrayaan-3 landing

The UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has congratulated India for successfully landing a spacecraft on the Moon. He called the lunar landing of Chandrayaan-3 a "significant leap for collective scientific progress".

Taking to microblogging platform X, formerly Twitter, Sheikh Mohamed posted in Arabic, English and Hindi: "I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India for this historic achievement in service of humankind."

The UAE Vice-President also congratulated “our friends in India”.

“Nations are built through perseverance, India continues to make history,” tweeted His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

a real pathetic post.

shows how naïve one is when they know nothing about space science.Countries invest millions in this technology, pakistan has to buy satellite services on rent for their agriculture corps

Football teams spend this for fun. It only cost $50 odd million to achieve this, almost every nation could do this, its not a huge achievement. But when you have so many not able to eat 2 meals a day, it has to be the priority.

But of course Zardari would also send one to the moon as he also doesnt care for fellow nationals starving to death...as you may be understading even better by now.

Ill rewrite, and hope we dont have to bow down to everything India does on here.

Waste of money for a nation with hundreds of millions in severe poverty.

Its another Hindutva attempt to show their lunatic followers they are some sort of great new Hindu superpower. This wont make a difference to India.

You're underestimating the impact of the space economy.

It's a $450+ Billion (USD) market and still growing. There will be long-term economic and logistical advantages for India due to these investments.

Pls google for economic implications .

Reports reveal that the global space economy has soared to a value of USD 546 billion in 2023, witnessing a remarkable 91 percent increase over the past decade. India, with its ambitious endeavors, is poised to play a pivotal role in this exponential growth. The success of Chandrayaan-3 could contribute significantly to India’s space economy, projected to be worth USD 13 billion by 2025. This boost can catalyze employment generation, encourage private investments, and foster the growth of country.

As per indians, our politicians are already rolling out unnecessary freebies for vote bank politics.

to think pakistan started its space program nearly a decade before india, well done to india, they have prioritised education and have reaped the rewards. the economic chasm between Pakistan and india, and especially the more developed parts of india is only gonna widen.

Pakistan rightly slowed it down. India has the most people on the planet, this is their way of putting their nation in higher regard in their eyes.

India sends this to the moon but Indian streets are more dirty , more slums , more open toilets, more hunger and mental health issues but its fine if IPL is there, Bollywood and now Indian E.T.

Space economy is for those manufacturing , creating and launching stuff into space. It doesnt mean the nation or people will improve or recieve such huge amounts. It will make rich space companies even richer. Sure there will be more jobs but out of near 2 billion Indians, it will be a drop in the ocean.

Let me know when you become a millionaire getting a job in this industry.

@KingKhanWC

You could not be more wrong if you thought that this was some mere vanity project with no tangible benefits.

As others have already pointed out how big the space industry is... such projects are a way to showcase our top notch abilities in space tech which directly translates into revenue by under taking missions for foreign countries. India is #1 in that aspect

Other obvious benefit is that we dont have to pay thru our nose to foreign countries for satellite services like gps

And then there is the x factor of inspiring young generation to take up science... its a win win across the board.

Ahead of the Chandrayaan-3 landing the stocks of 13 space-sector companies rallied displaying the optimism around India's space program

Linde India's share jumped 23% this week and closed at ₹5,923 (up 2.73%) on Wednesday. Chandrayaan-3 mission required some critical modules and systems which was provided by Centum Electronics. The share of the company has witnessed an 11% rally this week and closed 14.51% up on Wednesday at ₹1,648. The shares of Avantel, which is a satellite communication provider jumped more than 12% this week and closed at ₹235 (up 1.34%) at Wednesday's closing.

No need to work there to become a millionaire, we can reap benefits by investing. I hope u are also eligible

Kalam inspired entire country, its beyond any financial gain.

Check this out :

@uppercut @Vikram1989 You guys need to read English carefully before jumping the gun.

Of course companies will gain profits , the rich will get richer.

None of you have shown any evidence of benefit to ordinary Indians??

Please explain in your own words how Indian space program will get hundreds of millions out of severe poverty? Are they going to transport the slums to the moon? :sachin

There are far better investments. Invest your money in natural minerals, mining companies esp those who are currently looking for new gold, silver deposits. Ive tagged you, please explain.

Do you realize that ISRO is a govt company earning invaluable forex?

In other words current situation in Pak they would have dearly loved to have something like ISRO that generates forex instead of having to take expensive loans.

There is a direct impact on the economy and helps generate funds that the govt can use for welfare projects that you are talking about.

In the grand scheme of things, it will make little difference. $279 million is nothing for 2 billion people.

Besides Forex is simply exchanging currencies.

India should focus on BRICS more if they want to improve their peoples lives.

Again, this is simply Hindutva fooling their uneducated voters and trying to show the world India is advanced enough to send a probe on the moon.

Saudi tomorrow could send a 1000 of these due to their wealth, it means little in the bigger picture.

Like I said before, a real naive post. Your issue is more with India.

Having the ability to launch and land on moon allows the country to expand its research.

You talk about poverty yet you don't care about it nor understand how space science is helping in food. You just want to use that as a reason to bash India.

Alot of countries that have their own satellites in space use that satellite to get imaging of their agriculture lands and crops. They collect the data and use it in planting better corps and determine better yield.

There are companies in Pakistan that have to pay high fees to use such technology which is owned by some other country.

Space science isn't some garbage. Scholarships are given to students from places like New Zealand, USA and Canada, where often those students end up living there.

Almost all nations can do this? No they cannot.

Not every nation has the technology to launch a satellite in orbit, not every nation has the technology to land an unmanned aircraft on the moon.

To even study the moon, you need to have university courses back home with students and researchers that can take interest.

With ISRO achieving this mission in way less cost, this also more missions to take place with less cost. Also, launching a rocket in space in space isn't about ho haw, its done for research purposes. Because from this india will be launch observatories in space.

What india has done here is massive, and they have a nation that is proud of its country. While blind nationalism is bad, but sometimes when nationalism helps unite the country it makes the country itself strong and protects it from any internal or external destroyers.

Indias nationalism is something that should be appreciated considering the fact that multiple different religions exists and there are many different ethnicities existing, yet when ever the country does well in sports, chess or in technology, the whole country feels proud.

Sometimes its better to keep the differences aside and just appreciate the other party.

For me, when Arshad Naseem was competing for a medal in Olympics I was really excited even though it meant nothing to me, but still the hope of winning an Olympic medal in a different sport for our country was something boastful for Pakistan. So when india landed on the moon, I can understand how prideful Indians must be feeling and they deserve it.

Money well spent on education

Saudi with their wealth don't even have an army to defend its country. They have to hire people for an army.

Wealth means nothing, if you don't have technology and means to do research.

:ROFLMAO:

This shows your understanding .

If you accept rich will gain, I agree.

But out of interest, will YOU gain and how much?
Pockets of hydrogen have been found on the moon and in the past there had been research where it was determined that water might have existed on the moon as ice was determine on the south side of the moon.

Scientists are interested in pockets of ancient ice because they could provide a record of lunar volcanoes, material that comets and asteroids delivered to Earth, and the origin of oceans.

If ice exists in sufficient quantities, it could be a source of drinking water for moon exploration and could help cool equipment.

It could also be broken down to produce hydrogen for fuel and oxygen to breathe, supporting missions to Mars or lunar mining.

There is alot of scope for research from this mission

It's hilarious watching a certain poster apply balm on his wounds:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Its not a huge achievement. That's why only 4 countries have landed on moon and only one has landed on the south pole of moon.

When you have a country that's living on bailouts, worry about when and from where the next tranche will arrive from, and not about how and where another country is spending its money.

Yet it's Pakistan going around asking for money to run the country.

Yet its pakistan where the army crushes its people under its boots. PMs are put in jails.

Your frustrations are only making this more enjoyable.

This thread had a lot of pakistanis talking about the significance of this space achievement and then a frustrated poster comes and dirties the thread.

He had posted a very racist post which the admins deleted and after that he started his rants.

Anyways him throwing his toys out in frustration makes this more enjoyable.

Thankfully Pakistan slowed it down. If not, they would have put a man on the moon decades ago, and us Indians would have been left red faced.

ISRO is a net profit generating company. Every penny that it earns is pure profit and not currency exchange.

Had previous governments been honest and upright today ISRO's balance sheet would have been in the billions of dollars.

Forget rocket science the Saudis can't manufacture anything thats considered essential from a national security perspective. They don't even have a refinery of the scale and sophistication that Indias Jamnagar facility has.

India learnt this lesson of self sufficiency during Kargil war when our gps services were shut down by the US. Now we are no longer at the mercy and the whims of foreign nations something that your hero whose name your account is based on - Khan saab - laments every day.

And BTW any poor Indian who has Aadhar card can get highly subsidized ration anywhere in the country. So its not like these projects come at the expense of welfare projects.

BTW watch this video below from about 1.30 onwards it explains how space tech inventions have found their way into daily lives which we take for granted.

In short you have no idea what you are talking about. Going by your posts it appears that you prefer to rent and be at the mercy of your landlord rather than outright own a house. BTW there are 1000s of homeless people in USA too ... so according to you the US must halt all NASA funding and redirect that to welfare ? This is your "logic" ?

Watch from 5.25 onwards for explanation on how frugal this is ( even if we want to pretend that ISRO doesnt earn profits)

India is on the moon and in the meantime, it took us 8 hours to rescue bunch of kids from a cable car.:hasan2

Running a country involves taking care of multiple facets ... security being the topmost priority. ISRO plays a vital role in that regard. Without security there is no country.

You seem to be stuck on this notion that food security trumps everything therefore lets allocate 100% of the national budget to ensuring everyone gets out of poverty and is well fed only then we will think about science, sports, arts, entertainment etc ... It does not work like that. I can guarantee you that No country is run like that.

Its a great technical achievement considering the price tag of 75M $. Its almost a third of last cheapest successful Lunar mission (Chinese) which was over 200M $.
If rover detect good amount of water then it will huge implications.

Congrats to all the scientists in ISRO!

Yup I was very emotional when the magnitude of the accomplishment sunk in. Fantastic day.

True! By the way, I hope Prakash Raj lands into serious trouble, which he already has. I'm ashamed to confess I was once a fan of that disgraceful person.

Brutal from Waqas but all makes sense. Some Pakistanis just don't get it.

Why do Pakistanis need to get it? My only impression from reading threads on Indian victory parades on Pak message boards is that India will always remain a third world country as long as the yardstick they use to measure success is Pakistan. A failed state in your own words.

Just read the replies on this board from Indian posters and their cheerleaders if you are under any illusions.

I am glad I had to post a matter that is further away from the thread topic for you to make your 1st post here.

@KingKhanWC, brother watch from 3:36 onwards, Neil deGrasse answers the question you raised...

Just speaking to some Indian colleagues at work "more potholes on Indian roads than on the moon"

Basically the message I am getting (and mostly from anti Modi Indians) is that this is dekhawa of the worst order. Does nothing for the ordinary Indians.
