People criticise Inzamam because he selected Imam (who while hasn't been the best investment in Tests - he's certainly not the worst opener we've ever tried). There were also hipster fans demanding someone like Mohammad Wasim, but we've seen how his tenure's panned out despite his best intentions.
However Inzamam's tenure was the most productive of any Chief Selector of recent times. He cleansed the team of toxic individuals like Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad, Kamran Akmal and over-the-hill guys like Imran Khan and Mohammad Irfan after giving them a chance to prove themselves.
He introduced fresh blood including Babar Azam (in Tests - and stuck with him despite a poor start), Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hasnain, Faheem Ashraf (didn't work out but at least he tried blooding a pace bowling AR), Aamer Yamin (recall after being unfairly axed in 2015), Mohammad Abbas, Mir Hamza, Sami Aslam, Mohammad Asghar (who Sarfraz/Mickey didn't play) and Usman Salahuddin. And there's probably more.
The A team squads he picked were excellent too. Some will argue Inzamam had advantage of PSL, but Haroon Rasheed also had benefit of PSL1 yet his squad flopped miserably in 2016 Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. Plus many of these picks were from FC not PSL.
