What's new

Congrats Australia on winning Ashes 2nd Test - Adelaide ( + Day 5 comments )

Colly fails to take a single and now Anderson will have to face Warney.

9-120 (158).

Anderson survives. These are valuable overs England are eating up.

maiden...

41 overs left!

Apparently if they get bowled out this session they don't lose 2 overs to the changeover, which is done at tea.

Another maiden to McGrath. Anderson to face Warney again.

Anderson sweeps and gets himself off strike.

england should get out. they r making this test look boring. they have got enuff runs on the board. what r they scared of?

Come on, let's get this last wicket so I can study!

39 overs to maximum 41 overs to go depending on if england survive til tea!

If a wicket falls before tea they'll take tea early and use it as the innings change over. And if a wicket doesn't fall they'll take an extra half hour till tea.

australia will require around 4 an over... 40 overs left! another lbw shout..hawkeye says it would of missed!

2 legbyes...

lead 161

Another LBW, two leg byes given. Valuable runs for England.

Hawkeye saying it was clipping the top of the bails. But Jimmy was playing a shot which probably helped.

This bloke Anderson's doing a heroic job, using up valuable time.

This is going to go down to the wire.

Geez Andy got rapped on teh pads about 3 times so far...

anderson timewasting(trying to make warne's over the last one!)... maiden...

about 6 minutes left til tea. 37overs left

collingwood currently on 16.....this is where stats can never capture how important this 16 has been to his team!!

Andy's 1 off 18 is positively heroic.

I predict a fine coming Warney's way...

2 runs taken!

lead 163...

2 balls left..field adjusting..probably last over.

collingwood dropped!! difficult chance!

4 runs!

lead 167!

And a boundary to close! Great over for the Poms.

The Barmy Army are cheering every dot ball.

McGRath takes the wicket! Anderson bowled out after a truly heroic rearguard of 1 off 27. England dismissed for 129, leading by 167.

Target is 168 to win in 36 overs, RRR 4.8

168 runs required in 36 overs for Aus to win. This is going to be good.

that's so friken doable!!

Don't forget this is not a one-day match though, no fielding restrictions so the Poms can bowl tight and dry up the runs. I wonder if OZ will send out Gilly to open the batting?

Valuable time for me to do some real options valuations practice before the final session though. :D

Aussies should promote Gilly if need be. A 2-0 lead now and the ashes are back.

It was bloody tough on the umpires, they had to make about 10 or 11 correct LBW and other calls and they got most of them right, bar one LBW which looked plumb but it was tough for them. The pressure was immense with Warney and McGrath rapping the pads and beating the bat consistently and appealing constantly for tight decisions.

I still say it's quite possible...

ok so how should ENG approach this? 9 men on the boundary straight away? or should they attack in the 1st 10 overs or so?

This is a golden chance for Wheelie Bin to justify his selection. Warne was getting heaps of turn.

I don't think you're allowed to have 9 men on the boundary anymore. In any case, they need to attack. They need wickets. If they get wickets they can maybe get the OZ to go on the defensive. The last thing you want is batsmen getting set.

what's the limit now?

Aussie Batsmen are going to complete the chase in under 30 overs...pommies dont stand a chance...they only have themselves to blame... had they been more aggressive and scored some runs, the target could have been more difficult....168 in 36 overs is walk in the park for australia....this is disappointing.....the Englishmen might as well hand over the Urn and sail back ....

Can't remember, but I think they took that option away as it was too negative.
