What's new

Congratulations Sachin Tendulkar on hundred 100s! [Finally!]

From Cricinfo :

"Sachin Tendulkar is the first batsman to be dismissed in the 90s ten times in Tests. Rahul Dravid and Michael Slater have been out nine times each."

It seems SRT holds the record for being dismissed the most in the nervous 90s!

Irony - gotta love it!

:)))

Link please :)

Steve Waugh and Dravid already had 10 scores in the 90's

You guys are so mad and upset at N_H that you are not even reading his posts correctly..... :))

READ AGAIN!!! :P

Here is the link.... and guess the difference;

nav, it's to do with cricket, hence why it's been posted here. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sure!!! But then why talk about obsession and blame indians..when a random tweet on something that is significant in country makes into thread on pakpassion. My only point..

In matches India won in the finals.....Sachin averages 79.30... 4th highest in the world

In matches India lost he averages 29... and in totality he averages 47.85 in ODI finals...which is above his career Average of 45!!

Sure he failed...

So how many of these are WC finals? CT finals? etc...?

Stats please?

This is the 28th time, Tendulkar has been out in the 90s.

So his conversion rate from 90 to 100+ is ~78%. Wonder where this ranks among others?

Sachin Tendulkar is the first batsman to be dismissed in the 90s ten times in Tests. Who said anything about scoring?

Wipe those tears Sid, will help you read better!

Smart stats

R Ashwin became the 20th player to score a century and take a five-for in the same Test. It was the 27th instance of such a feat, and only the second since 2000.

There were 11 fifty-plus scores in the first two innings of the match, which is a Test record. There are six instances of ten such scores.

Ashwin's hundred is the 13th for India by a No.8 batsman, which is the most by any team. Pakistan are next with 11.

Sachin Tendulkar is the first batsman to be dismissed in the 90s ten times in Tests. Rahul Dravid and Michael Slater have been out nine times each.

On the third day, Dravid became the second-oldest batsman to score 1000 Test runs in a calendar year, after Don Bradman, who scored 1025 runs in 1948 at the age of 40.

Hate it when people on internet try to convince they know a lot more than the real fans who show up in stadiums.

What real fans?

Those fans who show up at the stadium after Tendulkar crosses 65?

Even his fans know that there is no point of going to the stadium.

:))) :))) Combined numbers of 90's is a meaningful stat whereas that of 100's is a meaningless stat. Love the hypocrisy :butt

Your friend NH is still adamant that he put up correct figures :P

And the number of 90's has nothing to do with longevity..!!1

I thought we were talking about obsession with Sachin...I am in this forum because this is one of the best cricketing forums..and I am free at work. I am not even sure how that relates..me actually joining this forum has absolutely nothing to do with pakistan..more to do with discussions and quality of the forum!!

To be honest I'm loving this obsession shown by posters here. My cricketing hero being the most sought after cricketer in our arch-rival's biggest cricket forum. Isn't that lovely to read/here? :P

Only related to sachin yaar!!! See in that best shot thread... there is a sachin 94 out video by pakistani posted unnecessarily....which will trigger a debate where as nobody even posted about sachin when he posted that video!!! Obsession is both ways..and its getting irritating.

:O

Some of those numbers are amazing.

I had 3 year head start on most of them, and they mostly have more posts then me :O

Obsession!!!

Edit: Your speed at gathering stats is amazing. Are you sure you don't have some guy in the basement doing all your work? :yk

Do you even know you own hero????

Based on history, he is least likely to score a 100 vs Pakistan .... among the teams he has previously scored a 100;

Dont you just love it when someone tries to be a smart alec but ends up with egg on face!! :)

I just feel he deserves way more credit than SRT.

No. That's totally un-Dravid.

The beauty of the whole situation is that amidst all the media and fan hype of Sachin, Dravid takes the sidelines and plays those wonderful innings. With the same/or more hype as that of Sachin, Dravid would not be the Dravid.

Ofcourse, you are the very model of ''real fans''

Me, you and everyone on here belong to the same side in regard to what i am talking about. Those thousands of people who came into the stadium to watch Tendulkar score his 100th 100 are not dumb. They know their thang.

What real fans?

Those fans who show up at the stadium after Tendulkar crosses 65?

Even his fans know that there is no point of going to the stadium.

And that's why they came in with so much enthusiasm? Those people are proud Indians and take a lot of pride in Sachin.

^^ That list makes Ponting look better than Tendulkar.....converting 90's to 100 is an art and Tendulkar needs to get better there.

What is the relevance? We're not talking about the most 90s in a test career; we are talking about the most dismissals in the 90s in Tests - hence The NERVOUS 90s, and SRT holds this records.

There is no amount of sugar coating that will change this fact.

Now sing with me - "Sachin Tendulkar is the first batsman to be dismissed in the 90s ten times in Tests."

:)

I agree with you on this...some sachin fan boys are as irritating as some people who religiously hate him!!! Pakpassion is becoming a mess with both kinds of obsession...

Haha, i post on a boxing forum & i see similar situations with posters obsessed with either Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao & the constant in-fighting between the two sets of fans

I guess it just shows how big a star Sachin Tendulkar is in cricket.

PP would be a boring forum if it wasn't for passionate fans!

Stop crying, you will get your moment when SRT scores his next century.

Might have to wait a bit though!

Until then, enjoy the fun and save the insecurity. :)

Yeah, but let's be honest- without us, you wouldn't be the internet star that you are. And I know you're quite proud of your online accomplishments, considering that you've even placed your "trophies" (essentially, others praising your "work") in your signature. A real champion, you are. Forgive my snark, I'm just jealous.

And since it's obvious that you still crave/desire attention at all times (perhaps in an effort to compensate for the constant lack of attention you get in real life?), I don't quite understand why you are complaining about Indians joining. We made you, gave you the identity you always desired. You should be thanking us.

Rampaul pouring salt into the wounds of Sachinistas, brutal how the West Indies players have no mercy and are beating a dead horse.

Tendulkar's dismissal was planned - Rampaul

N Hunter

Can you set up Sachin Tendulkar? Apparently yes, according to Ravi Rampaul. Ottis Gibson, the West Indies coach, had a brief chat early on Friday morning with Rampaul, one half of the visitors' new-ball pair. Gibson, a former Windies fast bowler himself, sketched out a plan, asking Rampaul to keep an off stump line, pull his length back and surprise Tendulkar with the bounce. Rampaul did all that, and successfully trapped Tendulkar six short of a much-awaited century.

"This morning while we were warming up, the coach and I were chatting about how we were going to bowl at him and out him," Rampaul said at the end of the day's play. The plan was to basically get closer to the wicket and just angle the ball away from him. He nicked it and it was a good feeling."

Tendulkar had started off briskly, with a couple of punched drives for fours, and an upper-cut six off Fidel Edwards. The visitors opted for the second new ball first thing in the morning and Rampaul was trying to hit the seam, just short of length, keeping an off stump line in his attempt to make Tendulkar play. It took him a few overs to hit the right stride. Also he noticed that Tendulkar was playing him from out of his crease.

Ravi Rampaul exults after getting Sachin Tendulkar's wicket, India v West Indies, 3rd Test, Mumbai, 4th day, November 25, 2011

"He was batting out of his crease, trying to get the ball a little fuller so I realised that and pulled back my length. The ball before actually bounced as well. It was just the right ball at the right time," is how Rampaul described the wicket.

Asked if he it was the best wicket in his 12-Test career, Rampaul did rank it high on his list. "It was a big moment," he said. "The atmosphere was huge and there was lot of crowd support for him. He is a big wicket."

It did not take much time for the hate messages to float on planet Twitter, where sharp verbal darts were being thrown at the quiet man from Trinidad & Tobago. According to Rampaul, the bad vibes against him were heard even at the ground. "I got that as soon as Sachin got out. When I went back to the boundary it was not all that nice," Rampaul said about being heckled by the Mumbai fans. "That is life and that is how cricket goes. I know a lot of fans are down and heartbroken but we can't just let him go and play freely. We had our job to do, much as he had his job to do."

Immediately after Tendulkar's departure, India suffered a double-jolt when Darren Sammy spread-eagled MS Dhoni's stumps with a fuller-length delivery, which Dhoni tried playing with poor footwork. Two wickets for nine runs, three overall before lunch, had the West Indies' spirits high. However, the inexperienced pair of Virat Kohli and R Ashwin played with resolve and their 97-run partnership for the seventh wicket helped India recover fast. Ashwin further frustrated Sammy and his troops with a fluent century.

Rampaul insisted that the bowlers had not relaxed after Tendulkar's wicket, and instead gave credit to Kohli and Ashwin for their pluck. "They really batted well," Rampaul said. "Ashwin came out and assessed the wicket and batted according to the conditions. Kohli also did well. When the partnership was building we just tried to stick to our plans, restrict them, and hoping that they will give away their hand. The wicket is not one where you could blast out anybody or spin out anyone. You just have to stick to the basics and stick to the team plans."

A difference in opinion/perspective. Makes for a more interesting experience.

But I do use an Indian forum as well, BTW.

There you go, differences in opinion/perspective have always existed, yet you claim you made us.

I would imagine that on a Pakistani forum, being known as an "Indian basher" (with regards to cricket, anyways) would be quite popular. We allow that to happen for you. :19:

indian cricket in a nutshell , to think they prepared this pitch just to make sure he gets to his hundred , at the expense of a test match victory at home , now they are gonna carry this circus forward to australia , i wonder if a sachn hundred will take precedence over a test series win against australia
the little man has had such a spillover effect on his followers and indian cricket in general #personalrecords.

To be brutally honest I was cheering for Tendulkar to get his hundred and felt really bad when he got out, one can only imagine the pressure and expectation he carries whenever he goes out to bat and to think he has been doing it for more than 20 years is really extraordinary. I am big fan but because of his idiotic fans you can't help but take a dig at Sachin.

He can get a century in Australia, better and beautiful ground, isn't MCG his favorite ground. Test matches in Australian grounds are far more interesting than Test match in India, not to mention better crowd. Will get a standing ovation after his century even if he gets out for 90 will get a standing ovation unlike here. All's well that ends well.

  • Dismissed 10 times in 90s in Tests. (World Record)
  • Dismissed 18 times in 90s in ODIs. (Thrice on 99 in 2007)
  • Dismissed a total of 28 times in the 90s in international cricket. (World Record)

The Don

  • Holds the record for most test centuries scored in a career without ever being dismissed in the nineties (29).

Brings new meaning to Nervous Nineties and bitter sweet irony.
