What's new

Congratulations to India on a moral victory for this series

Just like Stokes missing out?
What part of his injury do you not understand? I know you aren’t the sharpest tool in the box, but surely, even you should be smart enough to understand the difference between a player not playing due to injury and a player opting out because he is afraid of being injured.

Thats why I was in favour of Kuldeep being picked as a specialist spinner.
I think unless we get our team with good prospects at 3 and 5, gg won't dare with kuldeep in sena.I see only 2 matches outside sub continent ( nz , 26 oct ) in this wtc .so kuldeep will be in all other matches .

I fear for these FTBs come Ashes.
Jamie smith was awful against the moving ball or on spicy pitches.he was the same guy who scored runs for fun on flat tracks.Am not yet sold on Brooks.Still he has to prove a lot especially in Aus, Sub continent.

Bumrah had an ankle issue in the last game that caused him to be off the field long enough to not be able to bowl for an hour after coming back. Have also seen fan videos of him being helped up the stairs.

Not sure if it was a proper injury. But to claim that he didn't play because he was worried about getting injured seems unreasonable. Not really defending him, because if he did indeed have a primadonna moment here, he will be licking his sore wounds right now. Just like Kohli did when he left Australia after 1 test match and we went on to pull off the most remarkable victories to win the series.

He didn't play a single game at home against Kiwis!

Both are the same decision to avoid further injuries.

Bumrah had a knee injury.

I did float this theory that they would pretend he is injured to save face for all parties.

It is very convenient that he got injured in a match that he was due to miss anyway after saying he would only be playing three matches in this series.

I know you guys buy any propoganda but I'm surprised even someone like you would buy this story.

He played in first match .He got injured before second match and got a surgery before ct.so he wasn't selected for aus tour. But am sure he may not have played there as all our batsmen were awful.

This is the problem with that Chat GPT generation. You don’t use your brain but in your case, it might not be accessible. Even a quick cursory look reveals that this was “precautionary”, which means that he was not actually injured, he just didn’t want to put his body on the line which is normal for a coward like Bumrah.

Stokes on the other had his shoulder muscle torn, it is an active injury not a precautionary situation. There are no parallels between the two.

Totally in awe of this Indian team, thought they thoroughly deserved more than 2-2. They had all the odds stacked against them -

1. Young team assembling under a new captain in away conditions. No Bumrah too for a couple matches as anticipated.
2. Losing all 5 tosses straight! (Kohli-Rohit’s curse in losing tosses in crucial matches continues!)
3. Fast bowling still very much iffy. No consistent 3-4th seamer.
4. Injuries to fast bowlers at crucial junctures.
5. Dropped catches. Jaiswal cost us the first match we should have won.
6. Playing catchup throughout the series.

But so good to see that our intensity never dropped a bit. Our boys took the fight on till that last Yorker. Well done team, so proud of these boys.

If it was not injury, he would not have been released.

He was released because there is no white ball cricket on this tour. This was the last match, and there was no point in keeping him around when he is not going to play. Better for him to go home and rest, that is if he can make it in one piece.

He needs a “fragile, handle with care” sticker on his forehead.

My bad.

But Kuldeep has been most shabbily treated Indian cricket, that's a fact.

There is no morality in an 11 mean team beating a 10 man team.
So are you saying India should have forfeited the game to act moral?

Can we all keep a tab of all the dumb comment of the day today and pick a winner? There will be plenty of contenders

:kp

Of course. You folks can’t put a sock in it and breed like rabbits. Why wouldn’t FIFA and the PL tap into the huge market?
Pakistan has an even higher TFR and population growth rate than India. You are the ones breeding like rabbits.

Just difference is that unlike India, Pakistan has no growing economy so the country remains poor. This gap will grow and grow and Pakistanis will watch it impotently.

LOL. India is completely irrelevant in football.
Point is not football but the Indian market and India as a country as economy rises.

Who can forget this image that made Pakistanis cry.

India is becoming richer year by year and will join the powerful of the world shaping pop culture. Pakistan remains a poor third world country, unable to digest it.

I get it, it's human nature.

I think this was a great start for this young team. Great learning experience for the youngsters. Ditto for the captain too. Who is young himself.

The team came out ahead in terms of what they achieved. And even further on what they would have learnt from this.

This series yet again proved how tough 5-tests series are especially for away team. Anyone can fluke a drawn series or even a won series in 2-tests series.

But you are properly tested in a 5-tests series, there is nowhere to hide especially away.

As a fan while disappointing I would still take it because we literally are setting up.
Better Indian trams have collapsed but this one didn’t

5 tests in modern era are even tougher as they are condensed and almost back to back.

Back in the day a tour of England would last forever, there would be large gaps between tests, lots of warm up matches, and even tour matches between games to fine tune the line up and get players used to different conditions. There is just no time for recovery in the type of schedule we had in this series.

Correct.

During those days, there were even 6-match Test series and 7-match ODI series. Good old days.

Wisden shared an interesting observation. Broad took part in a 5 test series that lasted almost the same length as this series and bowled more overs than Siraj in that series. Anderson has bowled more overs in many series. If you look carefully You see many Anderson, Couple of cummins. Bumrah once which was technically 4+1 series. It is not uncommon one bowler bowling a lot of overs in a 5 test series.

After 2010

Anderson 223 overs 2017 Ashes
Anderson 213 overs 2010 Ashes
Cummins 211 vovers 2019 Ashes
Anderson 205 overs 2013 Ashes
Anderson 204 overs 2021 Patudi Trophy
Anderson 199 overs 2021 Patudi Trophy
Cummins 197 overs 2017 Ashes
Broad 195 overs 2017 Ashes
Hazlewood 190 overs 2017 Ashes
Anderson 190 oers 2013 Ashes
Siddle 189 overs 2013 Ashes
Mitchel Johnson 188 overs 2013 Ashes
Bumrah 187 overs 2021 Patudi Trophy
Broad 187 oves 2023 Ashes
SIraj 185 overs 2025 AT Trophy

and if you really go back in time .... tests used to be timeless. So now what ?
Troll started watching in 97 and even in those days there were never 6 match test series, as usual he's talking out of his backside and adding to global warming....
