So I passed the Pakistan Air Force test for Aeronautical Engineering that is to be followed by Medical and Interview tomorrow!
BUT,

I just don't want to go their, my parents want me to. I hate the lifestyle they live in and the BULLYING CULTURE.

If you guys have any information about aero engineering in Air force or anything, please do share and try to convince me in getting there:31:

Dont join armed forces if you dont have passion for them. Its a tough job and only passionate people can make it high

I'm not sure if it still works the way it was back in the day, but they cull a few people out before the Aeronautical/Avionics Engineering degree is completed. The unfortunate souls who get the chop are offered commission in one of the other branches, i.e. Air Defense, Air Traffic Control et al, and they don't get to complete their degrees either. You don't want to be one of those, trust me, and competition is stiff. You could of course turn the offer down, but then you've wasted a few years for nothing.

Another thing I gathered from having interacted and studied alongside both the Air Force engineers and also Army EME Corps (Electrical and Mechanical Engineering), is that being Services as opposed to Arms, they are always kept at an arm's length by the more prestigious fighting boys. This is particularly acute in the Air Force: either you're a fighter pilot, with the glamour and romance that comes with it, or you're just another nobody.

These points may help you convince your parents.

Bhai join it and build the next JF-17 for Pakistan. I would have loved to do it if I were you. Actually I did try being an airforce pilot but got rejected in the medical due to weak eyesight. :sarf

Why are you questioning this now after going through the hardest part of the process? Sounds like you are just a bit of a show off and pretending to not want it. Don't be an ***. You could have just shared the good news here and collected the congratulations but now you are sounding like a bit of a prat!

Sorry if I hurt you feelings but if i did, maybe you are not cut out for the tough mans world in the Pak Air Force 😒

Bravo :14: :14: on basing a subjective opinion from something that you are assuming yourself at best.

On Topic: @OP congratulations mate, I am not too sure about the field that you have necessarily specified but I wish you all the best in whatever you may choose in future.

Psychological test should reveal your "interest" so you should not be worried about getting recommended.

Bro, its not a big deal at all to pass the test, don't know what you're up to, maybe you're avenging the beating you received in the other thread...

And yes I'm not a tough man.

The Interview was taken by the Psychologist and he hardly asked anything, however they are smart and can come to conclusions based on a few questions

I wish thats no true because the medicals and interview are done and ISSB is left, on the other hand I don't have good universities in hand really...Will have to join AIR unless the ISSB and merit are cleared.

This thorough psychological evaluation will be carried out during the first evening of ISSB.

Generally military Psychologist will ask you questions to make sure they don't let anyone inside that has a different opinion from the opinion your military has. Military is always right is the policy and they want to enhance that culture. This is how it works with Indian Military and i'm sure it is the same with Pakistan Military. You won't like it if you don't have passion for it.

As Black Zero said, the real tests are going to be carried during ISSB exam and I just hope I pass them even though I don't like all the rules set but still have to abide by them

If you're hell bent on not doing it, there are ways to flunk the ISSB... not that I'm recommending it, I'm just saying they exist.

Otherwise, we will start calling you GC superhitter. GC means many different things of course. In your first year at Risalpur, you will be Gutter Cleaner. In the second year, it will be Grass Cutter. The year after that, Girl Chaser. And then finally Gentleman Cadet.

HAHAHA, no I'm not gonna flunk it...People are mad after it tells me its worth.

BTW, I said convince me and you're like;

"Beta there bus ki baath nahi ha, rehne de:narine

But on a serious note, Do I really have to clean Gutters and cut grass? like seriously? blaaaakhhhhh

After the welcome committee of senior GCs is done with you on Day 1, gutter cleaning and grass cutting will look like prestigious, sought-after professions.

thats a scary nightmare, but again the only thing over my mind is...three years only

Three years? They've streamlined it then. It used to be a full four years of the engineering degree, followed by six months to a year of training at the actual service academy.

Also after two and a half years, you will be the Gentlemen Cadets and you can dish out the treatment to the Gutter Cleaners. You can really indulge your sadistic side then. Until then, the masochistic side gets serviced. Regularly.

You want believe, last night after reading your posts, I was depressed for the whole night...I just can't think handling the ... like cleaning gutters and my good shoes and shirts are being taken by the seniors and I'm being bullied without the right to say NO!

Really trying to change my plans now...will study the FSC course and reappear for NUST next year, for now...will join AIR but this PAF won't leave me unless my parents change their plans....

After all its Pakistan

Is this military college or a fraternity? How is this kind of hazing acceptable? I'd understand if this was like military training, they'd be trying to toughen you up but this is just an engineering program.

Sounds tough.

Throw in the towel and do something old school. You can fly commercial all you want anyway if you're into that.

Just for the record, Gutter Cleaner is simply a title they bestow upon you. You don't actually clean gutters. They have staff for that.

I would hate for PAF to lose a potential engineer because of something I said. You should go, do us proud. This hazing stuff will put hair on your chest, make a man of you.

It is military training. Just because they also study for an engineering degree doesn't mean it isn't still part of the military.

Was referred to the eye doctor for weak sight and my right eye has a weak sight of 6/12 that cannot be improved by wearing glasses...

Kind of happy tbh, RELIEVED...SIGH

Since I can normally see with no difficulty but somehow wil get pulled out for this...have to meet the medical officer again, hope he doesn't find another way out:smith

The current employment situation and demand for fresh graduates in the country is the foremost reason to join.

The first six months to a year is no doubt a very difficult period for cadets. But things get easier thereafter and also, you get accustomed to the military lifestyle.

Think it this way. You will get paid for your education and living expenses (others spend millions) and will have a secure job right after your graduation. You will have a higher social status and will enjoy greater perks and privileges than most of your current batch-mates.
