The bin laden topic is one of my favourite topics because I grew up watching all the news on Al Qaeda. This event was one of the biggest events ever happened in Pakistan but is downplayed alot or considered as footnote in our history.

One of the reasons why the country has low tax recoveries and lack of infrastructure was Bin Laden. Pakistan used to get Aid in the name of Bin Laden from US, thus they didnt care about tax collection etc. The year when Bin laden was killed in Pakistan was when the aid was stopped and I remember in 2011 the stats came out for the first time that only 1% of the population pays taxes.

A core of problems exist because some elements of the state were probably shielding this guy in the name of Aid.
