Would like Shaheen, Abdullah, Fakhar and Naseem to sign for county. We have no matches coming up.

Shaheen could be a great signing for Sussex. Him bowling at Hove would be great.

Vitality Blast Finals Day will return to September next summer with fans now able to enter the ballot for tickets to county cricket’s showpiece event of the season.

Edgbaston will host Vitality Blast Finals Day on Saturday 14 September with Somerset looking to defend their title after defeating Essex in the final in front of a sell-out crowd last month.

The move to September has been made due to the impact next June's ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has had on our England Men’s and Women’s home international fixtures. The full men’s and women’s domestic schedule is to be released later this year.

This summer’s Vitality Blast again saw crowd numbers rise with more than 800,000 fans attending matches while the competition enjoyed its second-highest advanced tickets sales ever (up 16% on 2022).

Supporters enjoyed the action outside stadiums too with Somerset’s title-winning success the most viewed Vitality Blast match in over a decade with an average audience of 427,000, while viewership for the quarter-finals and semi-finals were up 64% and 12% respectively on 2022.

Additionally, around 400,000 people watched the ECB’s ‘Friday Night Blast’ YouTube programme throughout the competition.

What happened to Sai Sudharsan's debut today, he's only signed for 3 games you wouldn't leave him out? Bet there's a lot of India fans who went to the oval today only to be disappointed and perplexed?

And now no Jayant Yadav for Middlesex? What is going on, both new Indian signings not playing?

Nottinghamshire have signed Sri Lankan fast bowler Asitha Fernando for the remainder of the LV= Insurance County Championship season.

The right-armer joins with three games remaining for the Green and Golds.

The 26-year-old made his Test debut in January 2021, having first been called up to his country’s red-ball squad in 2016 - the same year he took seven wickets for Sri Lanka A against Pakistan A at Grace Road.

He has since taken 35 Test wickets at an average under 29, whilst amassing a total of 182 First Class wickets at 24.11.

In May 2022, he took his maiden Test five-wicket haul against Bangladesh, finishing with figures of 6/51.

“Asitha has already shown his talent on the international stage, and we believe he has the skillset needed to be successful in English conditions,” Peter Moores said.

“We’re excited to have him with us, and he will add much needed depth to our bowling resources until the end of the season.

“We’ve had some misfortune with injuries and we’re still in the situation of not having our full complement of seamers available. This has meant greater workloads for a smaller number of bowlers, and Asitha can help ease that pressure over the course of our run-in.

“The whole group recognises the importance of these last three games and the need for everyone to step up, so we can finish the season strongly.

“Having had a bye in the first round of games, we’ve had an extended build up to prepare ourselves for the challenge ahead, which we’re all looking forward to.”

Nottinghamshire currently sit seventh on 114 points in Division One, albeit within a bonus-points win of fourth placed Lancashire, who Nottinghamshire face at Old Trafford in their penultimate fixture.

Notts’ other remaining opponents this season - Kent and Middlesex - sit on 81 and 87 points respectively, with Canterbury set to host the Green and Golds tomorrow, before the Seaxes visit Trent Bridge for the campaign finale.

A Cricket Discipline Commission Panel has sanctioned Hampshire CCL for breaching the ECB Pitch Regulations.

The ECB charged Hampshire with failing to comply with Regulation 8.1 of the ECB Pitch Regulations, which requires each County to actively seek to prepare the best quality cricket pitch that it can for the match that it is staging.

The charge related to the pitch used in the club’s home LV= Insurance County Championship match against Essex CCC at The Ageas Bowl between 25-27 July, which was rated 'below average' by the Match Referee.

An independent CDC Panel upheld the charge following a hearing on Wednesday 6 September 2023 and has issued the following sanctions:

An immediate 3-point deduction in the 2023 LV= Insurance County Championship.

A 20-point deduction for the 2024 County Championship season suspended until the last day of that season. These suspended points will be deducted if the club commits any further breach of the Pitch Regulations in relation to the County Championship on or before that date.

A fine of £5,000.

The CDC Panel will release a fully reasoned decision in due course, after which the parties will have 14 days within which to lodge any appeal.

Durham Cricket are thrilled to announce the signing of Sri Lankan left arm seamer Vishwa
Fernando.

The left-arm quick will join Durham ahead of the LV=Insurance County Championship fixture
against Worcestershire on Tuesday 19 September and will be available for Durham’s final
two fixtures.

With Matthew Potts and Brydon Carse on England duty for the final two LV=Insurance
County Championship fixtures, Durham have acted quickly to secure an international quick
in Vishwa Fernando.

Fernando had initially signed to bolster the seam attack for the final three games of the
season, however his arrival to Durham was delayed due to not being able to obtain a visa in
time for the previous round of games.

An experienced seamer across all formats for Sri Lanka, Fernando has made 20 Test
appearances picking up 50 wickets with a best of 5-101 which came in Johannesburg in
2021.

He made his Test debut in 2016 in a commanding 229 run victory for Sri Lanka over Australia
and was most recently in Test action last month against Pakistan in Galle.

The 31-year-old has 264 first-class wickets to his name having made 99 red ball appearances
since his debut in 2012 and plays his first-class cricket with Colombo Cricket Club.

Fernando has also played first-class cricket with Bloomfield in Sri Lanka while he has also
played in the Lanka Premier League with Kandy Tuskers and Galle Titans.

Director of Cricket, Marcus North said: “We are really pleased to welcome Vishwa to
Durham for our County Championship run in.

“With Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts away on England duty for their ODI series against
Ireland, we felt the need to recruit a quick overseas bowler, as we look to maintain our
strong finish to the season, ending in a positive way.

“He is a vastly experienced player who has succeeded in Test and first-class cricket and we
look forward to seeing what he can bring to Durham in September.”

Vishwa Fernando added: “I am really looking forward to joining Durham, I very much excited
to play in the County Championship in England, I look forward to seeing everyone soon.”

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Middlesex County Cricket Club (MCCC) and Middlesex Cricket Board (MCB) have agreed a number of conditions to be imposed on the Club and Board following breaches of the County Partnership Agreement and Financial Regulations.

Following an investigation into funds provided to Middlesex Cricket Board and Middlesex County Cricket Club by the England and Wales Cricket Board, MCB and MCCC have accepted non-compliance of their CPA with ECB, and that the Club has been financially mismanaged over a number of years and is in breach of the ECB Financial Regulations.

Given the acceptance that the failings identified have largely resulted from a lack of effective governance and oversight of the financial position of Middlesex Cricket, the parties have agreed that a written business plan, which includes a sustainable financial plan along with a governance plan that separates the core business of MCCC and MCB, will be prepared for approval and monitoring by the ECB.

The financial plan will include budgets for the period up until the end of October 2025 that:

Show a sustainable year-on-year profit; and
Limits spending on players within an appropriate budget
The governance plan will include:

The separation of the governance and financial oversight of MCCC and MCB; and
An understanding of the shortcomings in governance that has given rise to the failings identified by the ECB investigation.
Such plans will be monitored by the ECB on a quarterly basis, with the ECB having the right to attend MCCC board and audit committee meetings as an observer.

In addition, in recognition of the breaches of the Financial Regulations and the noncompliance with the CPA the ECB, Middlesex County Cricket Club and Middlesex Cricket Board have agreed:

The ECB will reduce payments to the club by £150,000, of which £100,000 will be suspended until 31 October 2025.
The ECB will impose points deductions on the club equivalent to the maximum points for one win in each of the County Championship, the One Day Cup and the T20 Blast, suspended until 31 October 2025.
Richard Gould, ECB Chief Executive Officer, said: “We have agreements in place with all our county cricket clubs and county cricket boards to ensure that ECB funding is used appropriately and for the purposes in which is it intended. Where breaches of our Regulations and Agreements take place, it is right that we take appropriate action.

“It is vital that all our members have the necessary governance arrangements in place to ensure ECB funding is used appropriately. We will work closely with Middlesex County Cricket Club and Middlesex Cricket Board in the period ahead to ensure the conditions we have agreed are met.”

Andrew Cornish, Middlesex CEO, said: “Middlesex is determined to ensure that the financial management and governance of the Club going forward is of the highest standard and we are resolved to work closely with ECB to ensure that this is the case."

Shan Masood's 192 and a three-wicket burst from Matthew Revis put Yorkshire in a dominant position at the close of day two against Glamorgan.

Yorkshire were bowled out for 500 in their first innings, as 93 from Finlay Bean and 71 from George Hill boosted their total.

The hosts collapsed to 150-6 in reply, with 53 not out from Kiran Carlson their only real defiance.

Glamorgan need 201 to avoid the follow-on going into day three.

Jaydev Unadkat takes 9 wickets in the match for Sussex against Leicestershire to revive promotion challenge. He took 3 wickets in the first innings and 6 wickets in the second wicket.

Sussex County Cricket Club has received an automatic 12-point deduction in the LV= Insurance County Championship and captain Cheteshwar Pujara a one-match suspension after the club passed the threshold of receiving four fixed penalties in one season, in accordance with the ECB's Professional Conduct Regulations.

Automatic Points Penalty

Regulation 4.27 of the Professional Conduct Regulations sets out that it will be a separate offence for a Team: “during any season Registered Cricketers registered with or on loan to the same First-Class County whilst playing for that Team in the County Championship, receive 4 or more fixed penalties”.

Regulation 4.29 states that the automatic penalty for such an offence shall be a deduction of 12 points.

By virtue of receiving two additional fixed penalties in the LV= Insurance County Championship match against Leicestershire on 13 September 2023, Sussex CCC has now met the threshold of four fixed penalties in one season, having previously received two fixed penalties in the LV County Championship earlier in the season.

Captain’s Suspension

Regulation 4.30 of the Professional Conduct Regulations sets out that it shall be a separate offence for the captain where the same individual captained the Team in all of the matches in which the fixed penalties were received, and that the captain will receive an automatic suspension of one match from that competition.

Sussex CCC have confirmed that they and Cheteshwar Pujara are not appealing any of the decisions and Cheteshwar Pujara will miss their next LV= Insurance County Championship game, scheduled to start against Derbyshire on 19 September.

Warwickshire complete an eight-wicket victory at Lord's this evening against Middlesex.
