Dexter (TV Series) : Discussion Thread

this season lacks in originality and the plot is weak, but its still worth watching.

Really poor season. They've completely stripped all the main characters of all their intriguing qualities. Colin Hanks ended up being a poor actor playing an even poorer character. And WHY did they have to introduce that whole weird Deb/Dexter storyline?

+ 1

Deb/Dex what are writers thinking it is the biggest blunder possible.

Extremely rubbish, incest seems to be the 'in' thing in TV shows these days...Game of Thrones, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, all using this same sick crap.

It's supposed to be gross and sickening on GoT though, plus they're all backwards medieval hicks.

BE and Dexter though... I don't know. Cheap attempt at ratings.

Dexter lost me as a fan after the season 5 finale. It was pretty obvious from that season they wanted to milk the show.

Agree with everyone that didn't like the Deb-Dex storyline. It's absolutely sickening even though they're not biologically related. I think they've just runout of ideas.

This season as a whole was a drag.

I haven't watched BE, and as far as GoT goes, that's directly from the book, and it was essentially the plot point that got the whole story going. Believe it or not, they've actually toned down that storyline in the series compared to the book. :)) But it makes absolutely no sense on Dexter. There's this obsession with having the lead male and female character hook up. Every show feels compelled to do it.

To be fair, Dexter was adopted.

That's no excuse. They've grown up together, thinking of each other as siblings. Then one day, she just stops thinking that? That doesn't temper the throw-up-ability of it at all.

Weak Finale. The season was good until professor was real after that *** went a bit OTT . BTW Dexter and Deb are real life (ex) husband and wife.

and PLEASE introduce a villain that murders La Guerta - that woman is pissing me off!

Yeah now that I think if it, i'm like wth?

too much focus on Deb this season...let's hope she dies along with La Guerta next year.

The last 30 seconds made up for the whole season. Those 30 seconds will guarantee that even those who hated the season (like myself) will return for season 7!

"I find it kind of interesting that people are uneasy about Deb’s love toward her brother. That on a show about serial killers, it’s the idea of love that makes people more uncomfortable."

- Creative Writer, Dexter

what rubbish, its the idea of INCEST that is sickening.

If the last season is anything to go by, I doubt there are any creative writers left at Dexter. I love how he's trying to cover up their own shortcomings with some deep philosophical crap.

No sir, the problem here is that in the last season, you pretty much scraped the bottom of the barrel as far as creativity goes. You threw every cliche imaginable at the audience. Main male and female character indulge in (or think about indulging in) forbidden love affair? Gee whiz mistah!! THAT's never happened before! How does that even work? Did you have to bring in consultants from NASA to come up with that one?

Just finished watching the 6th season, overall the season was average in comparison to the previous seasons BUT the finale was WOW, loved that, seriously can't wait for the 7th season now

Agree with those saying the Deb/Dex 'love' thing is just ridiculous and extremely poor and lazy from the writers/directors, though I suspect they threw that in because Deb won't grass on Dexter because she 'loves' him, bakwaas imo

^ he won't kill her himself, the villain will probably do it next season.

i just finished watching season 6 and what a great last episode. deb/dex love just cracked me up tbh :))

they're married in real life too :)))

Im huge fan of it.....completed watching all 6 seasons.....waiting for its next 7th season...

Good show, but it's on the down slide now.

Enjoy those first few seasons, they are class.

hey next new 7th season might be good....Deb now knows about him and also her changing feeling for dexter.....now wt will Dexter do.....

I hope so. However, the trailers are showing too much of a focus on the brother relationship.

Not a fan of that angle.

Ever since they changed writers, it's gone downhill. It's good, but not as good as it once was.

Having said that, I still watch with a passion. :yk

Overall I think Season Six was the best since the first two.

Inevitable that Deb would find out about Dexter eventually. I thought that she would suss him through the insight gained from her therapy sessions. In order for the series to continue, she'll have to suffer insomnia - maybe a bang on the head in the first reel of season 7?

i have liked all the seasons on Dexter so far. some more than
others.
my fav have been seasons 1 2 and 4. 3 5 and 6 were not bad but had some weak points.
3 had a weak villain in the Skinner although Miguel was good.
5 had too less of the leader of the gang
6 had a very weak villain. the ending was a bang though

^^
awesome trailer. dexter is losing it. any special guest stars this season? john lithgow remains the best yet.

I'm going to hate this season then, incest is just sick don't know why all the writers nowadays seem to like it suddenly.

Not incest "technically". Dexter has always been a dear show.I've realized that the writers have a lot of say in what way the show will go .Something you are gonna love and some you'll hate. At least we know that we are getting what the writer envisioned .Usually when a show gets big like this its the audience reaction that starts writing the show after the first couple of seasons. (The killing of Doakes and that English girl was maybe a lazy ending though ) .

Technicality is irrelevant if you've grown up as siblings, it just seems to be the thing nowadays among writers. I suspect incest also would have been a convenient tie up as to how to let Deb know Dex's secret and not make her arrest him.

Greag comeback episode...just a note to future posters..if you're gonna talk about spoilers make sure you mention it in bold/caps letters.

Wasn't really a fan of the killing at the airport.

You're at an international airport and you're able to stay in a room, tie someone up, torture, and murder them without anybody noticing?

SPOILER

Completely agree...they tried too hard to link it to the first scene where we think hes running away...

Other than that it was a good episode with Laguerta finding the glass and then a super cliffhanger at the end...

Last season Dexter seriously went downhill...heres hoping it can redeem itself this season...

Fantastic season premiere. So many surprises!

SPOILERS

I guess it would have to come down to the fact that Dexter will have to create a hoax and pretend that Doakes is still alive.

And what is the deal with Louis? Fanboy of Dexter the serial killer?

And whats with all the dutch angles? So many tilted angles? Shaky cam etc.? Felt like The Shield for a second :))

So far season 7 has been epic. The new bad guy Isaak is as vicious and calculating as it can get. His viciousness is escalating. Plus he has a thing for eye-related violence. From threatening to drill a guy's eyes out to driving a screw-driver through a dude's eye, man is really making a sound impression.
Plus, the man dresses well and likes Opera. Suave, charming and murderous. The perfect cocktail!

^^ a killer needs his privacy.

ii hated how Debra was treating him like a kid in episode 2

thankfully things are back to normal

The new girl Hannah McKay is

She and Dexter seem to be attracted to each other.

After finding out who he is, she will be like NOT AGAIN :))

She's not Hannah Mckay, her name is Yvonne Stravotski or something, she's an Aussie who starred in Chuck :akhtar

Hannah is HOT :amir

she's an aussie, but can also do american accent

she's my future wife.......in a parallel universe, maybe we're already together

Another good episode. It had a great ending this week. The bad guys this season seem pretty BA.

Nice episode again. Ray Speltzer was one of the more memorable minor villains. Isaak is one smart badass. Notice how the Alex guy was putting the gun through his mouth and instead he moved the gun towards the side of his head.

Also, did he love Victor as a brother or were they 'lovers'?

Dude with the bullhorned helmet chasing Dexter through a Saw-like maze. Who wouldn't like that? :D

Wow is Isaak awesome or what? Wiping up a whole bar of colombian drug dealers with swag :viv

How is Dex supposed to overpower this dude? The choke and inject tranquilizer schtick will fail miserably with this utter badass.

I think hannah is ending up on Dex's table. :(

^ I think finally we have a villain who is a physical match for Dexter. This guy is a pro and can take Dexter down. So far this season is going good. Last season was terrible.

Deb wants to sleep with Dexter. I can feel the tension. It will be epic if that happens...just to see people's reactions! :yk

Agreed. Last season's Travis was Norman Bates part deux with none of the effectiveness of Anthony Perkins.

And Hannah and Dex seem to have a weird attraction with each other.

As for Deb, she is taking bro-sis love to depraved lengths :yk

Why do people think that Deb is falling in love with Dexter? She spent most of the last episode berating him for being selfish and putting her life and career at risk. At the end, she looked extremely disappointed with him when he doesn't provide a good response to her concerns and just burns the photo.

^^
Yeah. some were speculating that viktor is his son or something :))
"Everything I do I do for you." "I liked Viktor." When he is your son, you say so. You don't say I liked my son or so while talking to your enemy.
