Babar plays in the easiest era and most of his games were scheduled when teams were either playing IPL or they just didn't bother to send their A teams for various reasons.

Out of babar's 19 odi centuries he's only scored 5 centuries against full strength sides playing at their best. And ampungst them pakiatan lost 3 games and The sa one was a lucky break. It's only the NZ 2019 wc game that won over.

Babar is not a bad player however the king mantra is a massive joke and unless you're ramiz raja behind the keyboard you know full well it is a farse.

Compare that to someone like Mohammad yousaf who has scored 15 odi centuries, Each century wad achieved against aides playing their full strength and not against sides which were so weak that Tom Latham had to open lol.

If Babar was the king then people would see a very noticeable difference in the Pakistan team. People would notice Brendon Taylor from Zimbabwe because while the team was trash brendon was not and was exceptional even scoring a 100 against India in 2015wc deapite the team flopping.

However people don't notice that with Babar, all eyes are usually on fakhar zaman when he performs and not bobby. Bobby is the part of the team that flopped against Zimbabwe in 2020, part of the team that flopped against Bangladesh, part of the team that flopped against Ireland, part of the team that flopped the wc 2023.

Babar is not a bad player however you and surprisingly a few others have put him > Miandad levels of prowess while not understanding how much of an insult it is to compare.

If Babar was truly a goat then even if Pakistan was flopping then people would notice Babar atleast making the effort like they did with brendon Taylor, however that is not the case, infact the biggest meme that has been circulating around is that

"JAB BARA WAQAT ATA HAI TO BABAR GHAHIB HO JATA HAI".

Your bobby has left Pakistan during its crucial moments even at its peak with only NZ 2019 game being the soke exception in his odi career and India 2021 game being the soke exception in his t20 career.

Yes but this thread did compare babar to miandad. And ot is about the popularity of Miandad as a whole which will likely be compared to Babar azam who is currently the most famous person in pakistan cricket.

Answer honestly in pakistan cricket we have top tier batters which include

Miandad, Zaheer, Saeed Anwar, Inzi, Hanif mohammad and YK(In test) as the upper echelons with ijaz, yousaf, Aamer sohail, Saleem malik and various others coming one tier below.

Where does babar rank within this echelon that people are comparing him to?

Cause miandad ranks top 3 easily. Where does bobby rank? I guarantee you he ranks a few pegs below, in the misbah class which is ironically even lower then the Razzaq and Shahid Afridi class lol

I didn't see him at his peak but I feel there's a few things that damaged his popularity:

- Javed had an exceptional tactical brain but he suffered from a problem afflicting so many great players - he was very hard on those not at his level.

One mutiny against your captaincy is perhaps bad luck but two (and several coaching stints that ended in flames) suggests something seriously wrong with your man management skills.

- He was in the shadow of Imran Khan for much of his career. IK was seen as a more charismatic individual and his English fluency/Oxford background gave him a status beyond cricket.

- Crazy statements in the media. Over time Javed became that uncle at dinner who'd say the wildest things. Whereas Wasim Akram is very astute at handling the media and speaking diplomatically which ensures despite a dodgy past, his popularity is unfaded.

His rantings against Bob Woolmer were appalling, constantly labelling him a laptop coach (who isn't now ?)

Overall as a player though nobody doubts he's a Pakistan ATG.
