Hello,

I am Due to Go Pakistan at end of this month Via Emirates, I would just like any Reviews/pics people have if they have tried Emirates? Also this will be the First time I complete A flight connection, Does baggage get automatically transferred to Second Plane at Dubai Airport? or Do I have Correct and check in again for Islamabad?

Im Departing Birmingham at 14.20 on The A380 and Arrive at Islamabad at 07:30 - on 777-300 ER (Transferred flight at Dubai) What meals are served at this time?

On Return I will Depart Islamabad at 09:00- and arrive in Birmingham at 19:35? Which meals are served at this Time?

Service is excellent, planes are clean and flight crew is courteous. Your baggage should transfer if you are booked on Emirates all the way but it may depend on how long your connection is in DXB. When you check in ensure that they tag your baggage to Islamabad.

They feed you well, Don't worry about meals you will not go hungry.

Last time I went was like 10 years ago

And I still remember this

Dunkin donuts

Go there at the airport if you have times

Best donuts and milkshakes ever

I always travel with Qatar. Considerably cheaper but same service as Emirates/Etihad.

Absolutely messed up due to recent crash landing fiasco in dubai

They are fine when things going as per plan

Suggest take good travel insurance

If you're in Y, you'll like the 3-4-3 config on the A380 a lot more than the 77W.

Probably one of if not the best airline ive traveled in but its been a while since. Going to New York in 3 days on Emirates

Don't worry one of the best airlines I have not travelled but my customers that have said was really good Alhumdulilah.

This. Avoid Emirates at all costs.

People haven't received their luggage bags since last week. Not sure how much more time Emirates will take to get its act together.

Food, service and facilities whilst "travelling on the plane" are top class.

However, if luggage is missing, flight has been missed for a good reason, or refund issues then they are absolutely shocking.

You'd forget 3-4-3 config when you travel on the 2-4-2 configuration Emirates' A380. :najam

It's the newest A380 plane, 2-class. You get economy 2-4-2 on upper deck. Excellent plane and comfortable.

Yep. In which case the OP must prebook the seat as check-in is usually a lottery.

The service is good , the staff are friendly.

To be honest I did not like there meal to much. Maybe I was sick that time that is why I felt like that.

I hear it was PIA/Pak gov who initially helped Emirates and look where both are now, any truth in this?

Im due to depart from Birmingham at 14.15, which meals will be served at this flight

man after my own stomach

real commitment to the food issue

airline food gets such a bad rap but i love it (Qatar Airways always have great choice and quality)

I flew the other day, morning flight. The breakfast was below average but lunch was decent.

Emirates need to improve their customer service but then again there are so many rude people so you can't blame the staff.

Emirates, is the most consistent of the Arab carriers, even when things don't go bad they don't become epic bad like they can with SV, Kuwait or Etihad...

Their first class is not as flashy as Etihads residence though....

However the main irritating thing with them (and with EY ) is their increasingly militant attempts to extort money from passengers at departure gates for carryon bags weighing 9 kg instead of 7kg..... subcontinental flights are obviously targeted more :)

In terms of plane from the UK: pot luck. Was in an old Airbus

Food: some of the food provided to Dubai was inedible

Customer Service: Almost non existent in the UK and like Nazis

I would go with Qatar tbh

ive been with plenty of airlines and emirates is easily above anything, lot of people complaing with things that go wrong with all airlines and businesses.

however these days i travel with turkish airlines only because there tickets are £150 cheaper then any others, services and planes are good and there airport is phenominal and the best there is. plus you can get a long stay in istanbul for a few hours and they will give you a free tour around the city and bring you back to the airport.

I hear it was PIA/Pak gov who initially helped Emirates and look where both are now, any truth in this?

Yes, it's true. At the time PIA was one of the top airlines in Asia if not the world. I worked in Emirates Airlines for a couple of years when they started their aggressive expansion (my brother still works there and now heads a team of 40). Almost all the top management at the time were Pakistanis who had been poached from PIA and were basically running Emirates Airlines.

However after a few years they started attracting many Westerners, East Europeans (who "looked" much more presentable and didn't demand high salaries) many of their own who had gone abroad to study returned and were put in managerial positions, other Arab speakers like Syrians, Lebanese etc were preferred to South Asians etc but having said that it still is a very good company giving people a fair chance and award people on merit, many of the current senior staff are people that started out as customer agents and with inhouse training and support rose through the ranks.

So each passenger brought a dish along from home? That’s innovative, and probably saves the airline quite a bit on food costs.

Dont know how type of plane and bringing a dish from home are associated

If I knew the food was bad I would have bought something from the airport. When we travel short haul flights thats what I always do.

I'm confused. You yourself said there was a pot luck on the plane.

Potluck: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potluck

You will be confused as you didnt read things properly brother. Look at your statement and the link you posted.

I didnt say "potluck" i said "pot luck" which are two different things.

The way I used it the meaning is as follows:
pot luck: /ˈpɒtlʌk,pɒtˈlʌk/
noun
a situation in which one must take a chance that whatever is available will prove to be good or acceptable.

Ah, I understand now. I'll try to incorporate pot luck and potluck into my stand-up routine at the open mic.

Its ok but thanks to you I have also learned a new word :D

But jokes aside I decided to stop using Emirates as not only are they expensive but their quality isnt very good either. ek dum bakwaas!

Ok guys. A little help.

I will be travelling to Europe in next few months and the choice is between Qatar airways and Emirates. Which is better?

Have traveled via emirates previously and they have been v.good. Dubai is an excellent layover.

Has used Etihad and Turkish too and it was good.

How is Doha as transit and how is Qatar airways overall.

Doha airport is very good - not as huge as Dubai which frankly as a traveler wanting to get from A to B is a bit of a drag.

And is Doha good for duty free shopping?

Oh yes the distance that one has to travel is really tiresome. Esp if layover time is short.

Does anyone know why Emirates is only allowed 10 x flights a week to Lahore and Islamabad however are allowed 5 x flights a day to Karachi?

Both Qatar and Emirates flight experiences are equally good but if you are interested in shopping I would suggest the Dubai Airport more.

Well the difference in fare is 20k per person. Thinking if paying 1L just for shopping in dubai is worth it.

It looks like they have 8 flights to Karachi on some days, 7 on other days. Crazy. They must have a lot of passengers. These things are usually driven by demand. Is the Lahore and Islamabad route cornered by other airlines, e.g. Etihaad, Turkish etc?

If you are flying business then Qatar is the best. Their business class is like a private suite. The problem with emirates business class is that depending on seat, you may not get a personal access to the aisle. Etihad and Qatar win Here.

As for economy, Both are fine. Generally the flights from India to Dubai/Qatar are short, and there isn’t much difference. I think they fly a320 neos ( though I could be wrong), so it’s always comparable.

But you might want to fly Qatar as you may have a lot to travel to change flights with emirates.

I will be travelling business as its a family trip. I love Emirates business class. But since almost everyone here is saying Qatar is as good. Then Qatar it will be.

There is a diff of almost 20k inr per person between Qatar and Emirates.

Its worth it IMHO.

Good choice. Just make sure you get the wide body flight from India to Doha. I think you are flying from CCU, so don't know whether they use wide bodied or narrow bodied aircraft there.

In Qatar business class, 4 people can sit together to have their own private suite, or a couple can convert their seats into a double bed. IMHO, its way better than Emirates Business class.

Also, Emirates Business lounge at Dubai is so huge, it doesn't feel like you are flying business. Qatar one is Doha has a luxury feel, which Emirates IMHO doesn't provide.

Qatar is 20k cheaper than Emirates. :)) .

Its a wide body from Kolkata. No narrow body business by Qatar Etihad or Emirates from ccu.

Emirates flight from dubai to my destination was a A380, so extra 20k..

Emirates passengers can soon experience airline services in metaverse

Services include selecting a seat, shopping for duty-free products, touring the airport among others

Emirates airline passengers can soon try and experience airline services including selecting a seat, shopping for duty-free products, touring the airport or even exploring hotel rooms in the metaverse.

Adel Al Redha, Emirates' chief operating officer, gave a preview of the impending technological changes while speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2022 on Wednesday, reported Khaleej Times.

He said a lot of digital and electronic things have been in use for many years but “it was used in a fragmented manner rather than in a cohesive manner. What we’re doing now is we’re going to be doing it in a more collective way using different means.”

“We’ve had single-use fragmented applications up to now. But with the metaverse and immersive technologies, you will be able to transform and view all the processes whether it’s in operations, training, or sales, making it interactive,” he added.

Speaking on the potential of new technologies, the COO said: "For example, you will experience entering an aircraft, looking at the economy, business or first-class seats. You look at the seat and select it. Then you look at the menu and choose as per your liking. You then move forward to tour the airport. A passenger then goes to the duty-free area, and you buy your products while you're sitting at home and get them delivered to your house or your aircraft.

"At the travel destination, you know in advance which room with what view you want and check out the size of the room matching your preference. You pay more in case you want the room to be upgraded. So, metaverse has the unique ability to reach the customers and market it accordingly."

At the end of 2020, What’s On revealed the new class of Premium Economy which would be running on selected Emirates flights to London Heathrow but at the time, the upgrades could not be pre-booked. Until now.

Emirates previously revealed at the Arabian Travel Market that the premium economy option will be available to book to four destinations this year. From today, June 1, you can book the roomy flight experience on A380 routes to London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Sydney on flights after August 1, 2022, and to Christchurch from December 2022.

The premium economy cabin offers 56 seats in a 2-4-2 cabin layout. These wide, cream leather seats offer extra comfort to passengers with 6-way adjustable headrests, calf rests and footrests, so you can sit back and relax. Screens are 13.3 inches and there will be easily-accessible charging points, a wide dining table and even a cocktail table.

A premium experience

Not only can passengers enjoy extra comfort, customers can look forward to a dedicated check-in area for Premium Economy at Dubai International airport, or utilise the self-service check in kiosks in the hall to avoid queues. Premium Economy passengers will also enjoy a welcome drink in fine glassware, and a Business Class-style meal service with chinaware and stainless steel cutlery wrapped in linen napkin.

Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline said: “As with everything we do, Emirates Premium Economy will be exceptional in its class, with minute attention given to every aspect of the customer experience. Customers trading up from Economy will be getting excellent value.”

Due to the positive feedback since launching in January 2021, Emirates revealed the it will continue to expand its fleet of Premium Economy. “We currently have six A380s equipped with this cabin class, which limits our initial deployment, but our intention is to offer this experience to many more markets across our network,” Clark continued
