If the Lord's track also has any grass cover/moisture, the team winning the toss is set to bowl. Incidentally, a couple of weeks ago, when Somerset took on Middlesex in a T20 Blast game, the curator, Karl McDermott had left a tinge of grass. The white Kookaburra swung more than expected in not just the first ODI but also in the preceding T20I series. The sample size though is small. The weather forecast suggests it would be mostly a clear day.

It's being played at Lords. If India win the toss and elect to bowl, it will be repeat of the other day. Can't imagine any other scenario with the kind of form Bumrah and Shami are in.

If England win the toss and put India in to bat, then things can get interesting.

A very toss dependent game.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan played with great perfection in the first ODI against England as they shared a 100-plus unbeaten stand to help the Indian cricket team chase down a 111-run target with ease. The match saw them become only the fourth opening pair to score over 5000 runs together. Currently, they have 5108 runs as an opening pair in 112 innings at an average of 46.43. In the second ODI against England against England on Thursday, the pair has a chance to be among the top-three most successful ODI opening pairs.

If Dhawan and Rohit score 43 runs more together, they will surpass West Indies' Gordon Greenidge-Desmond Haynes (5150 runs in 102 innings). Sourav Ganguly-Sachin Tendulkar are at the top of the list with 6609 runs as a pair in 136 innings. Australia's Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden are second in the list with 5372 runs together in 114 innings.

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue will try to continue the same form coming into the second ODI to be played at Lord's, London on Thursday. The first ODI which was held in Kennington Oval was easily won by the visitors. A tremendous performance from both the bowling and batting side of the squad ensured that India grabbed the first win in the 3-match ODI series.

Jasprit Bumrah was the 'Player of the match' in the previous game. In his 7.2 over spell, he scalped 6 wickets while only conceding 19 runs. His bowling partner Mohammed Shami also helped him with a spell of 3/31, as the total of England fell to only 110 with all of the English squad falling in 25 overs only.

The small total of 110 runs was chased by the opening partnership of Rohit and Dhawan, guiding India to the first win in the ODI series.

It has been hot in the capital, so I would expect no moisture and a road.

Expecting this to be a Flat Phatta pancake so Bazball can be effective, this will help ENG level the series 1-1/

Indian batters are better at this. England will regret having a flat wicket.

India have won the toss and elected to feild first.
Bazball is going to come hard at India, on Lords pitch with lesser bounce and moisture content

Roy comprehensive beaten 6 or 7 times already. Little fuller he could have nicked it. May be it is his day.

Jason Roy needs his confidence back. He is a devastating batsman.
I hope he bats well and long.

Roy is uber lucky against Shami. Several went past the edge. Now inside edge missing the stumps for 4.

Sometimes it is a batter’s day. Sometimes it isn’t, and he nicks one to the keeper or inside edges into his stumps. It’s just the game.

Think the largest lawnmower in England was quickly rolled out and run over this pitch a few times after Tuesday’s game lol. Absolute road

Jason Roy has just gifted his wicket.
Soft soft dismissal.
He should have batted longer but i guess he needs to be dropped now.

ODI is the format where Pandya can aim to develop his bowling... In tests he may burn out with spells and in T20s he can be targeted at times... (In T20s his batting alone is essential though). But if he develops both form and fitness he can bowl in T20s and Tests too!

Not seen many making batting look so easy like Root has been doing in recent time. Absolutely lovely batsman to watch in action. He makes the batting looks ridiculously easy.

I don't understand why these young Indian pacers are so hyped.
This Krishna guy seems very average without much pace.
130ks 137ks 135ks.
Seems like a trundler without skills.

Kohli is back for another dud innings. He replaces Iyer who has been struggling since IPL. Like for like swap I presume.

Roy needs a rest.

Didn’t he sit out the IPL for these purposes due to bubble exhaustion. IPL lasts 2+ months now. So he has had a good rest.

He also had a disciplinary sanction earlier this year which was a bit of a knock for him.

He’s either very out of form or he is actually going downhill. Not enough evidence either way to judge yet.

Bairstow, cruised to a run a ball 37 & then out. But that was a decent bit of flight and drift on that delivery to be fair.

The bubble can have mental health effects. I don't know. I am just supposing.

Roooot goneee...another one for Chahal.

Not looking good now for England Villager6964 :(

:kp

Poor shot and review against the spin from Root.

Uncharacteristically so as well.

England going through a bit of sticky period in white ball cricket at the moment.

LOL Jos butler the botler.
Strip him off the captaincy already.

He has turned a world class team to a joke.
He looks so so timid and feels so much pressure.

Jos botler is not a captaincy material at all.
They should hand the ODIs captaincy to ben stokes and t20is to moeen ali.

England batsmen are mentally shot against this brilliant all round Indian attack. Root played an atrocious shot as his role is that of a anchor. lets see whether they score 250 here

Think he is finding Indian bowling too hot to handle. First B.Kumar tormented him in T20 series with banana swing and now Shami/Bumrah with pace.

Ben Stokes is fighting a lonely battle...need help from Liam Livingstone

250 should be the absolute bare minimum. You’d think 280 or more would be needed to make a bit of a game out of this.

LOL he was smashing the same trundlers in IPL not long ago.
It has nothing to do with the bowlers.
He is just looked mentally shot. Look at his dismissals he has played wrong all the time.

LoL shami and ugly action bowler are not express pacers.
They are just medium fast

Stokes gone too...Chahal is bowling like late great Shane Warne

This was coming, Stokesy should have been a little more circumvant here

Can England still get out before their last ODI's total?

Indian bowlers just had one bad innings (or bad flat pitch) on this tour!

Both Eng reviews wiped now as well. Disaster

I did say to Eng fans to enjoy the red ball games and really soak them up, because a team can’t keep winning forever :))

It was a good delivery and I think he has bowled well and varied his pave and lengths well. Our best LOI spinner quite comfortably

Yes I agree. The shot selection has been very ordinary from England but the bowling has also been good.
