It’s not the total it’s the whole game plan selecting slow batsmen who can’t dominate on flat wickets then hoping to chase over 300 every match proper minnow stuff and this is playing at home imagine the thrashings in SENA with this team.

This match Pakistan can be forgiven. This is still a big total. But last match pitch was even flatter.

Since match is so close, both Saqlain and Babar will get away with their failures citing as an exciting match.
 
England gifted this match to Pakistan with bizarre batting and also bizarre bowling changes. Pakistan refused to accept the offer.

I think they both played really well to take this game this much close..

Selections from the Chief Selector and the Pak management have cost them this series and many more to come in the future as well..

That's what happen when you put unqualified people for the job. Ramiz needs to be sacked ASAP for keeping both Saqlain and Babar along with Yousuf and Majed
 
Ali looked betterthan Zahid in 2 matches played, so should had come before him. Abrar should had been more selective. Anyway should not blame the tailenders. England bowled well with good planning . Pakistan lack of belief as usual was their undoing.

Of course the biggest culprit is the deadly duo of Babar/Saqlain.

But you cant give a free pass to the players, especially the ones who are in the position to win it for the team. If we are happy with them taking the team close and then throwing it away then we are encouraging a culture of selfishness and mediocrity.

They did. But you have a right as captain & selectors to expect some contributions somewhere across the two innings from numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 at least.

So far Pakistan don't have a lot to show from them. We have 45 from Nawaz, very handy under pressure but not match defining. And as we speak Aghar Salman has a huge task to save this game, prove his captains theory and his selectors right...
 
Boundary on last ball can prove to be costly for Pakistan as it once again exposes tailender in next over, as it did incase of Zahid.
 
2-0. Well Tried Pakistan. Only team to score 300 in this Test. This is definitely not a 3 day test match. Usually it would be a 5 day draw.
 
In the modern era, the tail has to be able to bat properly and not be sitting ducks.
 
Whats more annoying is that this very average English team that is hyped up on a reckless brand of cricket has emerged winners when they really should have been thrashed in this game and be punished for a poor declaration in the first test.

I really think this England team is quite bad and is just a matter of team before they get exposed against better test teams.

Pakistan were favorites when Saud and Nawaz were batting with only 65 runs to go, and there we are again falling short of the target by a good 20 odd runs. Babar and Rizwan the match losers of this innings.
 
Next match England will drop that offie and bring in someone else and strengthen the side. It will be even harder. Their real bazball merchant Bairstow is not even here.

You have to give credit to Pakistan batting. They scored 300 runs on this wicket that too in 4th innings. If luck was on their side, they could have won today.
 
That 1st innings collapse the turning point.

Having said that, England let Pakistan back into the game with a poor 2nd innings.

Another fun test, shame the final one is a dead rubber.

Babar does not seem like captaincy material, at least in tests. Not sure who the alternatives are but may be better for him to concentrate on batting.

Captaining in 3 formats is too much.
 
Complete thickness frm agha to give the strike to zahid in the 2 overs before this to him face wood and he gets out first ball. Then again let's him face Robinson here and Ali gets out first ball
 
Nawaz and Saud Shakeel should have taken Pakistan home at 290/5. These two bottled it as victory became possible. This is a clear sign of not having the cajones to handle pressure and Nawaz shown around 6-7 times in his career that he ***** himself when the game is in the delicate stage and when the pressure of victory is on him.

They did that against India/NZ at home conditions. Just one man's monster form saved them during the summer.

These players dont have the temperament to gut it out and when the going gets tough, they throw their bats at everything. They will follow this template everywhere until they are brought down to earth. They will hundred percent swing their bats in India as they know they have poor defence against spin.

Pakistan's inexperience, pathetic umpiring (Dar saab) and cowardice (from Raja/selectors/skipper) have cost them a draw and a win.

Babar is a pure coward. Can't believe I defended his captaincy against Kohli in one of the threads. (It was Misbah acting behind the scenes the whole time imo). A gun batter but a coward/loser captain. It is a sad fact.

Babar has now lost 2 big home series at home and has been in the job for 3 years. What will it take for the PCB to take the captaincy from him.
 
Mark Woods pace and reverse swing was vital. Pakistan did not have any x factor pace in their bowling

Nawaz is and will remain a softie. But the real issue in this game was the bowling. You just can't win test matches without proper pacers and selecting passengers (we had at least 3, arguably 4).

Stokes kept all the fielders for Salman on the boundary. Pakistan desperately needed the runs. At the international level your tail enders have to be able to hold their own and not roll over easily.

No need to drag India in everything. Pak team is terrible, they would have still lost if Shakeel was given not out. They deserved to loose after back to back selection blunders. Babar as a captain needs to be shown doors along with Rizwan "Mr. Untouchable".

In both test matches, Pakistan always looked under pressure. Not one session, where they look comfortable. There might have been sessions where it looked good on paper, but mentally Pakistan were always on the backfoot. Really pathetic team selection

Expecting small or moderate contribution is fine but this will not happen consistently. The failure mainly lies with those players who are playing as a proper batsman and who specially failed in both innings. England offered victory in both the test matches to Pakistan but the inconsistency, bottling under pressure in 2nd innings & lack of ownership by main batsman is the main reason of this failure. If you want to chase target in 2nd innings someone has to score 100 plus and 1 or 2 70 plus score. you cannot rely on 30-40 score from lower middle order

Beat SA 2-1 at home and blanked them 0-3 away.

Beat NZ 3-0 at home.

Beat India in the one test this summer to halve the hangover series.

Now beating PKN 0-2 away with one to play.

Give them credit where it is due.

There was no need of winning in 3 days lol No requirement They could have scored 350 to 400 easily in the 2nd innings and still won comfortably. May be they want to take early rest.
