England (387 & 192) defeat India (387 & 170) by 22 runs to take 2-1 lead in the 5-match Test series

Match is no where out of Indians' hands... It can anytime be 160/5... We should have been concerned if the score was like 120/0 after lunch... Match is even poised... If England end up the day 320/3, then it should be good for them... If India can get them to like 280/8, then it will be great for India...
 
booms has the best record vs steven smith and second best vs root. goat for a reason.
 
in about 10 overs ball will get really soft. will be interesting then. bazzball might come into play

Root is an amazing test batsmen and post comeback he has been avg 54 since his ressurgence

Excluding Aus he has been just as good as Sachin was. Issue is that pre 2019 he was an avg test batsmen.

And sachin at peak avg 58-61.

But he has been as good as Tenda was for the most part excluding aus.

People like @jeeteshssaxena think they know so much but I doubt they know anything about cricket beyond cricinfo

England have batted well, India haven't given them too many easy ones and the wicket is definitely more helpful

Whats with beard? Most Aussies (current and past) don't grow beard (only rarely we see moustached guys like David Boon, Merv Hughes, Travis Head, etc) otherwise its all neatly shaven (including Ponting...) but they all have big mouths...

Scoring rate is 2.80. Slow but its fine as need to build this partnership. Plenty of time to attack later.

Root does have a better record then Kallis ya know. That 55 avg is inflates due to that nonsense 505 avg vs Zimbabwe lol.

But yes kallis > Since he faced better bowlers and got his team out of troublesome situation. Not to mention just more memorable moments.

Root avg > 40 in every country except Bangladesh and aus.

Bangladesh doesnt count though due to putch doctoring + only playing 2 matches their

dont think he faced better bolwers per se. kalis that is. root has faced many good bowlers in this era.

its pretty even. but yea you are right, could go either way however root's under performance in aus holds him back.
thats why i put him below kalis.

will be tough it seems. maybe 300 to 400 on the cards for england

india need to bat big in second innings. it gets easier to bat on day 3 and to an extent on day 4.
 
6 bowling options is not a bad tactic by India. All the bowlers will be kept fresh and rotated. You can use spinners frequently between 40-80 overs, especially if there are economical.
 
Root and Pope are bit of old school... I don't think the batsmen following have normal-ball game... (They are vaccinated with Bazball). So India should try to pick one wicket and the gate may get opened...
 
With this kind of batting we are always in the game. There was a run of 29 balls without a single run.

Good disciplined lines from all our bowlers.

The point is that they had to switch their playing style in order to counter our disciplined bowling.

Its not about whether Bazball is good or not, that can be seen by Englands performance in last three WTCs

I am not sure anybody cares what ball they play. It doesn't really matter. Fact is India has turned them into playing cautiously.

decent bowling too. keeping it tight.

Only reason i want them to play bazball is to get wickets. That is the best way to nick a wicket or two on flat pitches.
 
Slightly double paced pitch with few balls carrying through at pace and a few keeping low.
Will get progressively harder in hot weather

Indian fans never said Bazball is disrespectful. We have always maintained bring it on. We even dished out flat tracks when Eng toured India last time. But it turned into Jaisball rather than Bazball.

It was brother @Mamoon who said Bazball is insulting as it was forcing someone like Root to play in certain fashion.Unless you are saying Mamoon is Indian....I am not sure how this charge is valid.
