The third ODI between Windies and England in Grenada was abandoned without a ball being bowled after sustained rainfall prevented any play at all.

The series was evenly poised at 1-1 going into the game with the Windies picking up an impressive win in the second ODI in Barbados by 26 runs. Although the players never got onto the field, the toss did take place before it became clear that the rain would scupper any chances of play. England, who had won the toss and elected to bowl, made two changes from the side that lost the second ODI.

Ben Stokes was rested for "precautionary reasons" and was replaced by the explosive right-handed batsman Alex Hales. Elsewhere, Chris Woakes was due to come into the side for Tom Curran.

The series continues at the same venue on Wednesday, 27th February.

England 100/1 and off to a flyer, both openers have scored quickly. This is norm now in ODI cricket. no snail like batting.

146/2 after 23.3 overs - 350+ here at least it looks like from england.

Ten overs left and two ferocious batters with their eyes in....

Beastmode Buttler. 150 off 77 balls.

80 off four overs. 24 sixes in the innings, a record.

Bishoo and Nurse stinking out the joint again. When will WI selectors learn ?

Can see england regularly scoring 400s during world cup, brutal form.

Imagine if gayle got 200* and WI chased this down.

What's up with this series (pitches)?

Massive scores and now WI chasing 400+ this well?

Brainless batting is going to cost WI here. Idiots.

Gayle needs to bat till end now and needs a braithwaite special aswell.

If England are going to win they will have to keep Gayle off strike and chip away with wickets.

Bowlers need to be replaced by bowling guns.

No score is safe on these wickets.

Yes I know the grounds are small, the pitches are slow and the bowling is not great but with this kind of scoreboard pressure on...Gayle is hammering away, devouring England in a manner in which he has not done for a long, long time. This series has been his resurgence.

If WI do this, this would easily be the greatest ODI chase of all time (even the greatest ODI of all time perhaps)...

Gayle gone and with that it seems so does the hope of WI chasing the mammoth total...

Horrible shot by Gayle to get out.

Holder at 6 and Carlos at 7.

No way was this team winning with that line up. Holder might be good in Tests but in ODIS he shouldn't bat higher than 8

Carlos isn't even a batsman

Amazing counterattack from Gayle. He’s got a gob on him but I suppose it isn’t bragging if you can actually back it up.

Doesn’t surprise me anymore when this England unit makes 400+ in ODIs. But West Indies have kept up pretty well this entire tour, a lot of heart and improvement. Should be a cracker of a WC.

Which team has the fire power that England has? I mean their No.5 batsman comes in and destroys the opposition completely with no fear of losing his wicket.

Only Australia comes to my mind as they have Maxwell who can play a similar kind of role like Butler. But Australia does not have a Stokes or Moeen Ali coming in after No.5 gets out.

If England does not win the WC 2019, they may never win again. This is their cup to lose.

Windies messing up a conventional run chase in terms of the match situation

90 off 60 should be a walk in the park

What Chris Woakes would give to bowl to a Pakistani batsman

WI are not playing full strength and they are still scary.

Imagine Evin Lewis, Andre Russel, Dwayne Brawo and Sunil Narine were playing in place of Campbell, Brathwaite, Darren Brawo and Bishoo.

Gayle
Lewis
Hope
Hetmayer
DJ Brawo
Andre Russel
Sunil Narine
Holder (c)
Nurse
Cottrell
Thomas

This team could win todays game and give a stiff fight to England if they meet. The rest have no chance.

England need to bring stokes back on, WI need a 15-20 runs scoring over

Nurse joining the party now.

47 needed off 30 balls.

Bhai our first two games of WC are vs WI and Eng at Trent Bridge :murali

SA has Miller

But WI has the best hitting and if they chase this then it is one of the GOAT matches!

9 off the over just bout keep up with rate.

38 off 24. One huge over could swing this now.

WI Can still win this. Just one big over of 15 runs and then just 7 RPO will be enough. Key is to not lose any wickets from here on.

If WI pull this off, it'd be on a par with the Joburg chase of 2006.

Unbelievable.

England are the best odi batting unit ever put together. They barely break a sweat making these scores. No team has touched the number of times they cross 300.

The win dies have competed vey well but for them to be considered the best they have to do it got years, like England have.

SA are no longer as good a batting unit as they used to be.

WI need to score a couple of maximums in the next 4 balls.

Imagine Sunil Narine coming in place of Bishoo here.

This was England's crisis moment, their test of tests and they have passed with flying colours. The Windies have shown their fire is starting to rage again. This could be a world cup to remember.

Can’t believe I’m saying this but Shadab could learn a thing or two from Rashid about how to slow it up rather than getting quicker and quicker when under the pump.

In terms of pure six hitting, no team can match the likes of Gayle, Russell and Brathwaite.

England and India maybe better batting teams, but they don't have the power to hit sixes like the Windies.

Amazing match. I thought Windies should’ve won in the end. Nurse and Carlos went to early, saw Rashid was easy target. I thought they should’ve knew they are the last two batsmen left so tale to least last 10 balls.

Maybe so but like I said, England get the bigger scores and do so more consistently than any side in history. Their number of 300+ scores since the last world cup is so far ahead of the rest, I am not sure any two teams combined can reach it.

To be precise, England have now scored 300+ 35 times since the end of WC 2015.

India are at 20, SA 17 and the WI at a very low 8...even Pakistan have done so 13 times.

The 807 runs scored in today's match between West Indies and England is the 3rd highest match aggregate in ODI history.

Hetmyer's suicidal shot was not needed. They could have walked this target if he had stuck around.

Even though WI won this, i am not sure they will be satisfied. Their bowlers are trash. Every tom dick and harry smashed them around.

What colors. They dropped a lot of catches in the first match. Scored 360, 389 in the two lost matches. It is not really en "emphatic" win. It exposed more holes in their bowling

Say who won this?

Wood and Rashid had fine matches, Plunkett kept some control in a run glut, and Joffra is coming.

After that result, and all of the nuanced critical match-moments that fed into it, I now genuinely believe that England are capable of winning the ODI World Cup.
